This is is a skydiving forum for skydivers to discuss skydiving issues. This is not a place for you to come and bitch about someones foolish mistake buying a house at the end of some airport runway. Please TROLL elsewhere!! Although we encourage Woofos to jump in and ask pointed questions, you don't even qualify as a woofo, you are just a Troll. Actually, I'm not even sure you're qualified as a troll? If you have anything cunstructive to add to this discussion (that isn't just solicited bitching) please respond. Other wise, go away. +1

Would you support a wingloading BSR?
skyjumpenfool replied to billvon's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Many are not going to be happy with me for this post. I'd be in favor of a BSR on wing loading. I'd also be in favor of it being very strict and conservative. Sorry to all you who don't agree, but I'm sick of all the funerals and hospital visits. I'd still be in favor of this BSR even if it meant I need to buy a larger canopy. Please do not "grandfather" anything in. Too small is to small even if you already own a canopy. If you want to fly a hotrod... put in the time and training (read as...jumps & canopy courses)! And, please do NOT make it a recommedation. We've all seen how that works. i.e. cameras? Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky." -
I just throw them in the trunk. Seriously! They're hunting dogs. Have you ever seen what a GSP looks like after a day of hunting the northwoods/swamps? Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

You will soon find that you can walk onto almost any DZ in the world and you will be considered a friend and fellow skydiver. And, you'll always be allowed to help push the plane, clean the pack floor, or dig a new hole for the outhouse. It's a tight communityy my friend. Welcome!! Going back after 4 years of not jumping due to injury

Skills will return very quickly. The physical part of the sport is easy. The best advice I have for you is, "Make sure your head is straight before you return". ...and, welcome back! -

I've always wondered what songs we never got to hear because of promoters, agents and record labels greed? Their song book is rather impressive considering the length of time they were in business. One bad contract may have denied us of their best work?? Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

Little Cloud Skydiving League
skyjumpenfool replied to skyjumpenfool's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Little Cloud Skydiving League The organizers of the NPSL (Northern Planes Skydiving League) are introducing a new way to compete in 4way RW. Good luck with this venture. And, thanks for promoting skydiving. The idea, as I understand, is to release a dive pool at the beginning of the month, and teams can upload a video for each dive pool by a deadline at the end of the month. Teams will be scored on the submitted video. http://littlecloudskydiving.camp7.org I believe they are using the NSL rules for competition and for classes. And, wait till you see how much they are charging each team..... Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky." -
Very well done hand cam That being said, and of course IMHO, the biggest problem I have with hand cam is the lens choices. Seems like most lenses wide enough for hand cam create a severe vignette. True, most tandem students will never notice it. I Do!! I hate the feeling I’m looking thru a cardboard tube to watch a video. At very best, the lens creates a fish eye effect, also a negative in my opinion. I have a very high appreciation for quality video, inside or outside. I’m learning this craft slowly, but have seen enough footage to identify the difference. So, I see this as a two-fold discussion. A. Quality/Skill of Videographer… inside or outside share this problem. B. Quality of Video/Equipment… Outside is at a true advantage here. I personally like Outside but love to see a little Inside thrown in as a second camera angle. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

Beginner with helmet camera
skyjumpenfool replied to Seapro's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Actually the Manufacturers decide to help out a little and meet USPA and DZO's "in the middle" and lowered it to 300 jumps (ref 19 Commandments of Tandem Jumping). Wasn't enough for the Madd Skillz folks though, they got the inch but want the mile. IMO, the Manufacturers should have gone the other direction, raised the bar and taken the authority back from USPA, as they have been ineffectual in that area of safety. Matt Agreed! Also, it use to be 500 jumps + 100 camera jumps, as I recall? Has that changed? Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky." -

Atleast then they have demonstrated some level of skill in the air and some ability to see what is going on. I'd have no issue with a guy with 100 jumps jumping a camera as long as he was basically treated like a coach: 1. He went through an organized certification... Why the USPA has not created a 'camera checkout course' I just another glaring example of a failure. 2. That the new video guy was under supervision and only allowed on certain pre approved jumps under the supervision of a Sr camera person. This would mean no tandem, no AFF, no total zoo loads. Simple two ways till they have proven they can handle them. No stills, no toys, no zoomies, etc. Quote I would agree with 1 and 2 above if you were to add... #3. Minimum 200 skydives. Also, to jump camera with tandem students you need 500 skydives (per manufacturer) this should be true for AFF students as well. So then, if we flip the coin... Say someone wants to fly camera at 100 jumps? All they'd have to is get a coach rating. Talk about a back door! Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky." -

Card size... several smaller cards (4 or 8) work well. keep an extra in your jumpsuit pocket. The camera will tell you how full the card is. I liken it to the reserve gas tank on my Kawasaki.

Ok. but here's something to consider... Deep down, we all know that the point Marisan is making is very scary and contrary to what we want to believe about our sport. If one continues to push the limits, one will die or splatter oneselve all over the ground. So, are you refusing to argue with myopic people or are you refusing to admit this could be the reality in which case you/us need to slow down and reconsider safety? I guess my point is, are we looking at the big picture?

Not all coaches are 100 jump begginers. If the student wants video, hire an outside videographer. They can always use the work. Hell, I do them all the time for free. Or, this is where you assign the coach with 1000 jumps and 400 camera jumps who has a track record of ability and skill. Not all coach jumps are equal , nor are all coaches. We come back to the concept of 'Common Sense". Use your best qualified people for the toughest jobs. edited to add... When I take video on coach jumps, the quality is what I would call "Usable". If you want good video, outside is where it's at. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky." -
Best way to mount a GoPro for the rest of my AFF?

That's ridiculous. You don't need a wing suite to get more freefall time, just pull lower. Real men never dump above 2K!! Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
