I love the way when people bash the bible they always start with a verse about gods wrath or an old custom from the old testament. No one ever talks about the love and forgiveness Jesus brought us in the New Testament. To me being a christian has meant understanding that Jesus died for our sins and letting some of that old stuff go. I have yet to banish my wife while she is on her "monthly cycle." Implementing the withdrawal that was specified under the Status of Forces Agreement that Bush signed with Iraq in 2008? If I remember correctly, Bush wanted the last of the combat troops out this year and most of the troops out by next year with a small contingency left behind to continue to train Iraqi forces.. Obama has done a good job of following the Bush plan. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." the validity of historical comparisons in economics

High taxes? Taxes are almost as low as they've ever been post-WWI, payroll taxes are nothing compared to other nations. As for vacation, WE nations have to give employees between 4 and 9 weeks per year, so your claim of high cost/regulation is silly. And your claim that we won't be a manufacturing nation again is probably wrong. As soon as the debts becomes unbearable, probably in 10 years, our dollar will fall and we will have to manufacture as teh exchange rate will be too steep to afford Chinese fingercuffs. That may be hard to do as the Chinese keep devaluing their currency to undercut us. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. I really enjoyed the video. These guys really get it. Liberals constantly playing the race card in a power play is harming race relations in America. Yes there are racists in the US, on both sided of the political spectrum, and we will never be able to get rid of them all, but they are the minority now a days and mostly insignificant. It's time to start moving past that. Race for the most part only becomes an issue when we decide to bring it into the mix with racial politics, playing the race card, or what ever else when we try to use it as a club to score cheap political points. In doing so, we set back race relations in this country. "If there is no spit, you must acquit!" "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Watching the show reminds me of the first 2 minutes of the movie "Idiocracy" and just furthers my belief that humanity is devolving back to monkeys. I just caught a brief glimpse of the news. Gov. Brewer is now counter sueing the federal gov to enforce the federal laws since they have taken the jurisdiction away from the state, or so she says. Anyone seen any details of the counter suit? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." I thought this was a pretty decent post. Everyone has there own prejudises due to the way they were raised, the people they grew up with, or various experiences they have had throught out their lives. I had a problem with this though: It bothers me that there are still a lot of people out there that will label you racist if you preach self reliance, responsibility, or even say black and white should be equal under the law (affirmative action places white people below everyone else) What is racist about saying everyone, reguardless of race should have an equal opportunity to support their family? are you aware that there are very few white people who's grandparents were slaves? There are a LOT of white people who's distant relatives were slaves. that would be the distant black relatives. You are not very good with the history of the ethnic cleansing of Ireland by the English under Cromwell are you. Many thousands of whites were sold as slaves and transported to the West Indies including one of my ancestors who was a 7 year old orphan at the time. What are you saying? I thought only black people have been abused through out history.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. It would be funny if it wasn't so true. The left have become the "boys who cried wolf" one to many times and now when real racism occurs, no one will listen because they have lost all credibility. Obama himself, other than with the Cambridge police indecent hasn't created a whole lot of racial rifts, but the extreme left in his administration i think are setting back racial relations years. Race baiting and racial politics hurt the country. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Has Obama's Administration Helped or hurt Racial relations?
jgoose71 replied to jgoose71's topic in Speakers Corner
The Tea party hasn't done anything to racial relations. Their are several people out there though that are race baiting because the tea party is a conservative movement. There have been several videos called out as bold face, doctored up lies trying to brand the movement as racist. Are there fringe elements? Yes, but they are told to go home. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYfmShJe5MA Real Tea party values- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P1CLPhz0DHM&feature=PlayList&p=B708717B6A31B998&playnext=1&index=31 If you remember correctly, just because Clinton was a threat during the primary election, there were efforts to label her and Bill as racists also. Because people are starting to get so hypersensitive about race, you had the Shirley Sherrod incedent Obama after the reverend Write thing came out with one of the best speeches on race that I think I have ever heard. He said that Write and his grandma because of their early years could not see the positive changes that have happened in our country. Then he followed it up with the indecent with the Cambridge police and now he's letting the black panthers run wild. You also have congressmen claiming to be called the N-word and being spit on, but Andrew Breitbart still has $100,000 in reward money for anyone providing proof. With all the cameras on the incedent? It never happened. People just want to keep running with the lies. When you run out of political points, play the race card. Now we are heading down hill. Has Obama's Administration Helped or hurt Racial relations?
jgoose71 replied to jgoose71's topic in Speakers Corner
The last couple of days I've watched the news and racial relations seem to be at the front of a lot of stories now a days. Obama was hailed as the first post-racial president and electing him to office was supposed to heal the nation. Now in the news I see the New Black Panther Party, accusations about the Tea Party, NAACP, Shirley Sherrod, and a bunch of other things going on. I personally think things are taking a turn for the worse. Everyone is screaming racism, a lot of times falsely, at every turn trying to own being a victim. Any progress that may have been made over the last 20 years is slowly getting flushed down the drain. Nobody is even reporting honestly on what is going on. Everyone has an ideological axe to grind. Thoughts on if things are getting better or worse and why? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Shirley Sherrod shafted by the Right (and Left)
jgoose71 replied to jclalor's topic in Speakers Corner
She didn't get in trouble for class warfare, she got in trouble for discrimination. Here is the huffington post on the matter (since the left doens't believe anything fox news says) http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/07/20/shirley-sherrod-resigns-usda-naacp_n_652185.html Her comments are on video about half way down. I for one am ecstatic. This is the first time I think I have seen the Obama administration police it's self. I won't get used to it though. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. I've had tar ball roll up on my favorite beach, but hopefully they will start rolling up a little less here in the near future. Once again you confuse me with your ramblings, but I think an appropriate response is- A) I think you need to open a dictionary to see what the word "fascist" means and... B) The only people benefiting from the health care bill is the Insurance companies. When everyone has to pay for insurance, who do you think profits? Many more jobs will be lost when the rich have to make cut backs to pay for the poor. C) If you take issue with anything written in the article, keep in mind it was written by and many of the quotes come from the progressives on the far left. A few Key Points: It has to be a tax to be legal. Yea, Obama lied. The only people that didn't know it were the "Democratic sheeple" who blindly follow him of the cliff like the lemmings they are. The funny part is the now corrupt Department of Justice's findings on the matter. Is anyone surprised they found in favor of Obamacare? The joke continues. This is all old news. The only real news is that the New York Times is reporting on it. It goes to show how far Obama is dropping in the poles. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Here's what frightens me is that we have a justice department that has let these hate mongers off the hook. And now the fun begins.....the rest of the story will unfold regarding selective enforcment! Selective enforcement, wherever it may be, is always a legitimate concern for citizen vigilance. That being said, what unlawful activity is this particular asshole group getting away with that other asshole groups are not? Have you been sleeping under a rock? Eric Holder told the DOJ to drop the case. J. Christian Adams, a senior DOJ attorney quit and became a whistle blower. A lot of people will immediately dismiss this because the interview was conducted by Megan Kelly, but its a good interview. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UuLu67uqyus&feature=related There are many stories on this if you Google it. The main stream media is ignoring it. This was the man outside the polling station: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3MbqupVxMY&feature=related As I said in my earlier post, anyone, intimidating or discriminating against anyone based on race is wrong. Obama was supposed to be a post racial president. I guess not. I'm already on the look out for who my black master is going to be when whitey gets enslaved. Hopefully he won't beat me to badly. I would stay out of the jungles of Thailand right now. That isn't the friendliest place to be. Just some advice. Most people don't visit Thailand for the jungle though. Here's what frightens me is that we have a justice department that has let these hate mongers off the hook. And now the fun begins.....the rest of the story will unfold regarding selective enforcment! DING DING DING....We have a winner. It's not who has the most hate groups, it's who has the most hate groups sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice that are allowed to grow and thrive. "Right Wing" Hate Groups - 00% "Left Wing" Hate Groups - 100% To me, I don't care who you are affiliated with. A hate group is a hate group and should not be tolerated. The only reason they are branded "right wing" or "left wing" is so crack pots can justify their actions. Why would anyone try to justify a hate groups actions? It goes back to the argument of "racism" and "reverse racism." giving preference to anybody based on race is racism. If the white liberals here are that riddled with liberal guilt, I'm sure they can talk the NAACP into a guest "indentured servant" program to allow them to work some of it off. So what is in the financial regulation bill? It's 2,300 pages long. The left says it will protect us, the right says it's going to kill the private sector, and the news has bigger fish to fry right now. Its all flying under the radar. I guess it's another bill like health care. We have to pass it to know what's in it "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying.
