How true. They should stop calling these people public servants. We seem to be serving them. I think a good place to start would be term limits and taking away their expense accounts. A congressman's pay is $175,000 a year and that should be that. Stop funding there private parties. In an effort to keep this non-partisan, also because I think it applies across the board, some congressmen (and women) have spent over $1.5 million a year in other perks. I'm not talking security and airplanes either. If it's service, it needs to be a burden. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 60 Minutes - How Staff Sgt. Giunta Earned The Medal of Honor
jgoose71 replied to quade's topic in Speakers Corner
I think the man deserves the MoH. Being navy I can only quote the navy awards manual. The SSgt Giunta probably wouldn't have got into any trouble for not going after his brothers in arms, but he did. He was definatly safer keeping his head down, but he didn't. He saw his friends in trouble, and decided that he didn't care about his personal safety, he wasn't going to let things unfold the way they were going. The only difference to me between this act and jumping on a grenade is that he lived. I'm not going to hold that against him. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Scenario: An Arab gets asked "How are you from and where are you coming from?" He answers "I'm doing OK, I'm coming from Palestine." and then starts to dance around nervously. He gets pulled aside and searched. According to the article, this is how Israeli security works. Do you honestly think that groups here in the U.S. wouldn't scream "profiling?" The fact of the matter is, even though they ask "where are you coming from" instead of "what nationality are you" or "what is your race" groups in the U.S. would call that profiling. That is why measures like these are not hear in the U.S. Anything that allows someone to make a "judgment call" is taken out of the equation. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. We should turn this into a "Post your favorite quote from the clip" thread. My vote is for "When your legs are spread and he gets in you or behind you and starts talking to you and breaking you down." Although "His penis is a weapon" is pretty good. I know there is supposed to be a serious message in there somewhere, but I can't stop laughing at the images she creates. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. I like the description of the "Jack Rabbit". If I had a clitoris I would go buy one. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything

The Palestinian's were victims...... 70 years ago. They ceased victim status when their elected government went corrupt, started sending suicide bombers into Israel, and launched rockets at civilians. Now they are nothing more than puppets for Iran. The world has evolved to the point where there could be peace if they really wanted it. They just can't seem to stop launching rockets at civilians though. There is a piece of history the west keeps trying to bury though. If you ever want to know why Palestinians are so angry, just google the word "Nakba" or "Al-Nakba" "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Why do you think that is? I think it's because American voters are lazy, stupid and apathetic. Think of all those bozos who vote only straight party ticket, for one thing. Therefore: 1) most American voters have no freaking' clue on what "their" candidates stand for, or 2) It doesn't really matter what they stand for because the candidates do not represent the people. After election, they'll tell the people what is good for them instead. I would have to go with number 2. I know what my candidates stand for. The problem with the 2 party system is none of the candidates truly represent me. I am a moderate. I am fiscally conservative and socially fabulous. Really, who was the last candidate with my views? Couple that with most politicians don't run to serve, they run to be served...... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. This one really tore me up. This was obviously a great man and will be missed by all that knew him. http://abclocal.go.com/wtvd/story?section=news/local&id=7680404 Here in this story it talks about how he was planning to do 20 years in the military and then go to seminary. He truly knew what it meant to serve. I'm sure a lot of people could learn a lot by how he lived his life and his outlook on life in general. http://law.rightpundits.com/?p=2480 Go with god. You will be missed. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything

Yep, traded thousands of manufacturing jobs so we don't have to worry about subsidies for farmers any more, er, wait a minute.... Ya, worked out great, didn't it? And how do you suppose this is going to happen? This "vanishing from the page of time?" It couldn't have anything to do with the bombs, rockets, and small arms that are being smuggled into Hezbollah and Palestine under the guise of aid could it? Iran has done nothing but prolong the war. Peace could have been achieved a long time ago if they and Syria would have started talks with Israel and not started shipping in weapons and creating a corrupt terrorists government. Now distrust and hate rule the land. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Yep, it's time to re-think NAFTA. It may be free trade for the rest of the world, but the deal sucked for America. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything

Why bother? It's California. No one would give a rats ass unless it was sold to him by a republican. Even then, they wouldn't do anything to the illegal..... Yep, we have a "Group" of "suspected" illegals that bought the house on the corner, they have had police called on tehm many times, all local law did, was make abotu half of them move out, (there were 11 cars , not telling how many people living there at the time...now there are 7 cars/trucks, hard to tell how many people! This is zoned as a single family residentual area, yet they are being ignored by police... Once again, everyone playing by different rules, none, of which are the rules on the books. It sounds like you have a problem with profiling. It's a common, everyday occurrence in all walks of life. Have you been victimized by profiling in some way? We used to get pulled over and searched for apparently no reason other than having long hair. Yep, it was a hassle getting pulled over but only the nuts bangin' drugs that suffered for it. If you know me, you know I'm not that PC. What the argument was about was hiring someone that was supposed to be verified already as legal, and then having to re verify again or go to jail. Like the left is any better? The Juan Williams deal at NPR is a perfect example of "liberal tolerance." If I ever want to see liberal tolerance all I have to do is go look next to dinosaurs and dodo birds. I do agree with you about letting ILLEGAL immigrants into the country though. I think everyone should be documented and checked out. The problem is everyone is playing by different rules even though the rules are spelled out by the law. On this issue, you are at odds with your party. This is the part when I say liberals are giving away our country. When it comes to immigrants, I differentiate between legal and illegal. You may want to do a historical check on just how much the Bush did to stop the tide as Gov or Pres. You have to follow the money. I'll give you that. I am at odds with my party also. Once again. everyone is playing by different rules even though the rules are spelled out by law. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Go ahead and let anyone into your home... are you nucking futz??? Imagine that.... but when the GOP has no room for anyone but the extremists on the fringe right any longer and those who wish to legislate morality from their pulpits are the only ones who get listened to... I guess like skip and his ilk..... EVERYONE starts looking like a liberal ... to those who are that far into to the nutbag wing of the GOP The Floor installers that just put in my wood floors, were lisensed and Bonded, yet 2 of them spoke damn near no (as you say) "American".....so much for your therory ... Nice racist profiling btw.... That doesn't matter. According to Amazon, you will still need to do a back ground check yourself. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. And every son of a bitch in this country that hires one without full verified documentation should be going to jail for breaking FEDERAL LAW. I am not talking about federal tennis camp for rich boys.. I am talking about federal pound them in the ass hard time. Then what happens when they put forth fake documents? Exibit A, Meg Whitman's maid, Nicky Diaz. It took 6 years for someone to finally realize that she had a fake social security number. Meg Whitman specifically asked that her maid be verified as a U.S. citizen by the agency that she hired her from. We all see how far that got her. Ever heard of these funny things called computers? I check on my credit score at least once a week and I also have lifelock. If I can get the kind of information that is there.. then any prospective employer can. There are all kinds of investigative agencies..just chomping at the bit to get out there and get any info on any person you want to get that info on. It's not rocket science. For my latest job the backgound check I was subjected to was more inclusive than when I was getting a Top Secret for the USAF. Make the penalty dire..and the employers will make sure who they are hiring. There is also this thing called trust. Meg Whitman paid an agency to get her a U.S. citizen to work for her and trusted that they did their job. Who do goes to jail now? As Joe Average, I can't dig into someone else's personal records. As you pointed out above, you can dig into your own all day long. Joe Average in HR or detective Joe Average.. can. Sorry but When the maid you hire has trouble with English... you MIGHT have a fucking clue especially if you run a HUGE company... and are in KalE four knee ah and the maid does not sound like an American. Have to agree with Skipbelt on this one. Sounds like you are profiling. Also, if the agency is supposed to be screening these people, why should I have to come behind them with a Private Eye? And might I follow on with, English must be spoken by all Americans? As i have said before, other than your hatred for Bush, you don't sound very liberal, or Democratic for that matter. This is where you show your ignorance on the subject. Iran has pretty much vowed to wipe Israel off the map. If they got their hands on a nuclear weapon we are pretty much guaranteed nuclear war. No matter what side of the fence you are on for the whole middle east thing, you are a fucking loon if you are all right with the release of nuclear weapons. And with all of the crap they are pulling in the region, if you actually believe that they are not perusing nuclear weapons, well, I got some beach front property I want to show you at low tide.... Thank you.. I appreciate it I had a lot of really great times there I enjoyed myself immensely I bet you did..... Seek counseling. I did.. I drove the shrink into catatonia I don't doubt it. You should see what spending 3 years as a SERE school instructor did to my friend. Not to mention what it did to me. I was associated with what one of the instructors referred to in broken English as "fish eaters." I got special treatment. I'm not one, I was just a part of the platoon. Indecently, they didn't let the platoon go through all at once. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss."
