  1. I voted more. The problem is with all the limitations put on current off shore drilling the only place they could drill is in 5000 feet of water. Working at that depth compounds any problems. If this had happened in 100' of water, the problem would be fixed already. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 2. Nope, latest is the guy is a naturalized Pakistani dude trained over seas. Rumor has it Eric Holder and the rest of the attorney generals office is lining up to defend him. 4. No, I got the point. Why don't you convince me that after Cap and Trade go through and the VAT gets thrown on us that we won't be paying European prices for everything. Then convince me that our industries will still be able to compete with China and India. Government and Social Programs are paid for by taxes on the private sector. The private sector is fueled by industry and being able to produce and sell goods. You made a big deal about all the miners loosing their lives, which is a great argument, but now it seems you are willing to sacrifice their livelihoods. This is the barrier you need to break down to get us conservative types on board. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 5. So what your saying is you want to give 60% of your earning to the government? Go for it my friend. I would like to keep what I earn and spend it on my family..... 6. Tell you what Brent, since Kallend won't be working for me at "Fertilize America" do you want his job? We can use the profits to buy ourselves some kick ass Tesla Roadsters. Powered by Lithium batteries mined in South Africa and assembled in China of course. We don't want any more Americans dying in mines or having industrial accidents. 7. And you are barred in being one of my employees at "Fertilize America Inc." The window to cash in will be small before the economy really tanks. I will just take my millions and run. Don't get the wrong idea. When I will the lottery and I can afford it I am going to put solar panels on my roof and a wind mill in my back yard despite the cries of my neighbors. I'm not doing it for global warming, I'm doing it because I would like to see the US in energy independence. 8. I will agree that your expriment will work if you can agree that the globe is cooling, ice caps are making a come back, and polar bear populations are on the rise. All verifiable facts also that Al Gore dodges in interviews. It's not working so well for the liberal European Utopia. There industries are in the crapper and gas prices peaked at over $9 a gallon last year. Right now they are hovering at between $6 and $7 a gallon. I really don't want to see that for the U.S. I would like to see our manufacturers able to compete with China and India. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 9. The Carbon Credit market would be a market entirely created by and maintained by the governement. At the moment there is absolutely no demand for carbon credits. There will not be demand for carbon credits except that businesses will have to purchase them to avoid other forms of federal regulations and penalties (taxes). Captialism, indeed. You should learn a little history. Free market Republicans pretty much invented "cap and trade". And it has been proven to work. www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/Presence-of-Mind-Blue-Sky-Thinking.html the thread has blown up since my post a while a go. To this specific point, Cap and trade is a scam. What Reagan did was Cap, and that is it. SO2 was causing acid rain, which is very provable, and had to be controlled. It was capped and the problem was solved, period. CO2, as far as we can tell isn't hurting anything. The only thing that CO2 seems to do is make trees grow. The earth is in a cooling period right now. There is no need to regulate it. If it was truly killing the environment, there would be a "Cap" and no "Trade". Its the "Trade" that is going to create the problems. Let me read to you from the "Book of Enron" to tell you how this is really going to play out. I will use my make believe company "Fertilize America" as the example. I have a fake company that will be allowed "X" amount of Carbon Credits. I will even by the sensors and install them in the back of my house. I won't use any of them. I will sell those credits to Tom for $10, Tom will sell Them to Dick for $20, Dick will sell them to Harry for $30. Harry will sell them to a company that really needs them for $40 because the government set their allowable rate way low. They had to set it low because myself, Tom Dick and Harry have cut into the share of total allowable CO2 immitions set by the government. Now myself, Tom Dick and Harry get a cut of the cash made from the company that really needs the credits for doing nothing. That extra cost will get factored into any items manufactured. We are now going to loose our Green technologies to China, who doesn't participate in "Cap and Trade" because they can make batteries for our electric cars cheaper. Like I said, if it was truly dangerous, there would just be a Cap and that is it. But if the bill does pass, who wants to help me out with Seed money to get "Fertilize America" off the ground? Right now the House and Senate is full of people that would give us the license for a company for a few "campaign contributions" Al Gore already has his license. I think he is "Dick" in the above chain of events. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." 10. The problem is he is not wrong. The way Cap and Trade works is you are assigned a certain amount of "Carbon Credits" you are allowed to use. If you exceed your limit, you are fined. You can purchase more if you need them, but it will cost you. The costs of "extra carbon" will get passed to you, the consumer, further killing any industry left in America. All Gore, the folks at GE, and a few of their friends will get rich trading in "Carbon Credits", Gas companies will have to jack their prices up to $9 a gallon, just like in Europe, and it will all come out of your pocket. The only thing that can really be said positive about Cap and Trade is that it may encourage people to use less fossil fuels. But if the technology isn't there yet, your screwed. 11. Since his plea is only to "young people, African-Americans, Latinos, and women," I guess I don't have to vote for him. I don't know who the other guy is yet, but if he asks for everyone's vote, including mine, he will get it. Seriously, he would actually agree to do this video after campaigning as the "great uniter" in a post racial America? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 13. "Imagine a Tea Party protester in the streets of Washington DC. Imagine that protester just trying to have a debate on the issues. Now imagine a liberal spitting on him, slandering him, calling him names and accusing him of all kinds of vile racial misconduct...... Now imagine that protester is Black....." Yea, borrowed from "Mississippi Burning" but I think it fits here. It's been said over and over in these forums that the tea party isn't a movement about race, as much as the Democrats try to make it. It's about the lack of representation from our government. You know, the guys that are supposed to work for us? Yes, we know that a lot of Tea Party people are white, but 21% are not. http://www.gallup.com/poll/127181/Tea-Partiers-Fairly-Mainstream-Demographics.aspx "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 14. I know, but to me the response was typical. I would like to see the Democrats at least become a little more creative with their excuses. Is it asking to much for them to come up with an excuse that doesn't have the word "Bush" in it? I bet they couldn't go a week without using the word. Any takers? 15. Yep, 2 wrongs make a right That's how the Dems justify things. Bush did it too "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  16. Sooo...... Have a lot of children do ya? You really don't recognize what is going on with the American economy. Even China knows that to develop a strong economic base, you need manufacturing jobs and a low enough price to sell the goods you make. Thats why they have been artificially driving the value of their currency down. With the price of health care added to our goods, Cap and Trade right around the corner to drive up energy costs, and the new European "Value Added Tax" getting ready to be thrown on top of everything, how is this going to stimulate the economy? Don't give me the typical liberal line of crap about how "Now that health care is passed, employers don't have to worry that extra cost." because we now know that is a line of bull. Employers who provide health insurance for their retirees will now have to dump them on to Medicare or Medicaid and fire X amount of employees to make up the new health care costs. I'm not seeing any real fixes here. Only more broken shit. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." 19. 3 to 5 years is a little closer to relevant current history than Shopshire's 200 year old flash back. At least most of us were alive and/or new someone in the decision making process. Here in the US it would be considered unconstitutional to ban head scarves, yet they do it in Europe while telling me , in sarcastic tones mind you, to piss off, when I would like some consideration shown for the culture here in the US. I've done a lot of traveling in my time. I have friends all over the world and I have always gone out of my way to respect and even learn something about every where I've been. It seems it's only OK to come to the U.S. though and try to screw it up as bad as what ever country you came from though. Like I said, Hypocrisy. 20. So... next time I visit Europe, I guess it's OK to demand a cheese burger, wear a big "Bush Rules" t-shirt and be the so called ugly American. When visiting or moving to another country, you don't have to worry about the local populace at all. Oh, wait a minute. When people visit Europe they have to comply with all European rules, but they are allowed to do what they want in the U.S....... http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/11/04/AR2005110400183.html http://blogs.reuters.com/faithworld/2007/11/29/why-we-dont-call-them-muslim-riots-in-paris-suburbs/ Talk about hypocrisy And Shopshire, we are talking about the here and now. I say that because I'm trying to stay relevant. It's to easy to pick on Europe's history "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 21. Nobody is saying you can't have yours. But you're saying you want yours to have exclusive access to government property. Then when anyone questions that, or gets their view onto government property, you call it a war and say that people are trying to take away your right to believe. It's a massive double standard. I think I addressed that in my post. Have some compassion for the culture, will ya? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 22. Real or not, it is perceived as real to many people. Why do you think we have shit going on like was mentioned in the original post? Yes, freedom is a bitch at times. But freedom of religion is a guaranteed right under the constitution and if you challenge that, you get backlash. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 23. Question..... When are they going to visit Rep. Charles Rangel (D/NY)? I think he still owes more than 4cents. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  24. And this is where you are wrong. Christmas, just like the name suggests, is where Christians are supposed to go to mas to celebrate the birth of Christ. A lot of other religious holidays happen to fall around that time as well. For pagans, yule, for the Jewish, Hanukkah, and even for the African Americans, they made up there own Kwanzaa. To say that Christmas is not a Christian holiday is like saying Ramadan is not Muslim. Yes, Christmas is in-your-face here in America, and that is because most Americans are christian. Let us have our religion and our holidays. Nobody is saying you can't have yours. I would never go to Israel and try to tell them that Hanukkah is for Christians. At the same time, I don't think they would deny me my Christmas tree. And understanding their culture i wouldn't try to hang a Christmas tree next to their Menorah in the middle of their town square. This mutual respect is all I am asking for. This war on religion here in America is going to have a huge backlash, as we are starting to see. And yes, that sign was put there only for the reason of challenging Christmas. No one has denied it. The true meaning of Christmas has been lost to a lot of people. Now its all commercial. 25. The one that is trying to take away a person's right to believe in religion and is somehow doing so using seperation of church and state? No, I honestly haven't. I guess you missed my last line. Google is your friend. Here is one result from a quick search. http://www.oregonlive.com/news/index.ssf/2008/12/atheist_display_at_capitol_in.html If you don't believe in Christ, don't celebrate CHRISTmas. Doesn't mean you have to actively go after people. Let them believe what they want. That is what freedom of religion is about. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying.
