Those that live in Glass houses shouldn't play golf
jgoose71 replied to jgoose71's topic in Speakers Corner
Of course I know Obama has been to the Gulf, he was just here in Pensacola the other day. What gives you the right to say Bush only flew over Louisiana at 40,000'? I know I'm getting petty and letting you drag me down into the depths of conversation reserved for Liberals, but maybe it's time conservatives starting taking a few pointers from the liberal book on "how to protest the man" since liberals are now in power and are the man. Roll reversal While were talking about failure, When is Obama going to get FEMA involved? He can put them on speaker phone with his Blackberry while at the golf course Isn't that how a Wall street executive or an Oil company CEO would do it? At least bush flew over it. Does Obama even know where Louisiana is? Maybe some one should point it out to him on a map so he can visit. Also, I see he finally got around to talking to Tony Hayward after he was blasted in the media about it. Holy afterthought bat man, maybe it is a good idea! 1. Predict the upcoming Hurricanes and damage they will do this season. 2. Is the clean up done and New Orleans recovered? I know a lot of people that would disagree. For 3 and 4 I am clueless. Preview post and spell check are your friend. However I believe a good counterpoint to your incoherent ramblings would be the Coast guard is without real leadership and Obama could be doing a lot more, for example, don't ground the ships that are cleaning up the oil because you can't verify if they have life jackets on them! Let's see, we have some connies angry that Obama headed to the gulf 5 times so far, saying it was interfering. Now we have another connie saying Obama can't play a round of golf until the last of the oil is mopped up and leak stopped. Other than the obvious, if Obama took a shit wrong you would be disparaging him, tell me what you would direct the president to do and not to do. ..... Rahm Emanuel just blasted the BP CEO Tony Hayward for going cruising on his yacht while the oil spill crisis is in full blast. I just think his words might have carried more weight if Obama and Biden wern't out playing golf while he was saying this, Obama's seventh round to be exact since the oil crisis happened. Even Bush knew to stop playing golf at this point. Especially with the gulf war and Katrina catastrophes going on. But I guess this is the liberal work ethic in him coming out He really is clueless, even compared to Bush isn't he? http://www.brutallyhonest.org/brutally_honest/2010/06/rahm-emanuel-criticizes-heyward-for-attending-yacht-races-in-england.html "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. I think the point went right over your head. Yes, hold BP accountable. But that is not congress's job. Congress makes laws and it's supposed to be the judicial system that enforces them. There needs to be (I cant believe I am saying this) criminal and civil law suits brought up on BP to do this. What was the purpose of dragging them in front of Congress other than political grand standing? I kind of reminded me of the baseball players testifying on steroid use. What was the point again? For those of you that were stoned through US government in high school I'm recap: Legislative branch: writes laws Executive branch: approves laws Judicial branch: enforces laws Hope this helps "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Lucky has a hard time with the concept that for some people an election is like choosing which finger to cut off. Should I cut off my pinky or thumb? I think Dick Morris said it best: Buyers remorse is starting to kick in for a lot of people. Of course, if they were a little smarter, they would have saw him for what he was in the very beginning. Afgahnistan's "Newly Found" Mineral Resources
jgoose71 replied to jgoose71's topic in Speakers Corner
The Report is kind of questionable about how new the find is. There are rumors that the Soviets found a lot of these resources back in the 50's, which might account for why they were in Afghanistan in the 80's. But either way, what do you think it will do for Afghanistan? Will it fuel there economy and bring them out of the state of war they have been in for the last 1,000 years or will it fuel a corrupt government and lead to more death and destruction? Right now they are saying anywhere between 1 and 3 Trillion dollars worth of Gold, Copper, Iron, and they could take over as the leading Lithium producers in the world. With Lithium battery technology taking off, this could be big news for their country. Will this bring them into the 21st century or fund the Taliban? http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5ixbAsQE2cup3cqRFmFhi27zPVksAD9GBATS83 http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503543_162-20007608-503543.html http://www.smh.com.au/world/soviet-charts-held-clues-to-hidden-wealth-20100614-ya9a.html "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Save the environment, buy a Hummer avoid a Prius
jgoose71 replied to brenthutch's topic in Speakers Corner
Yes the Article is old. Nickle cadmium batteries is cars are slowly going the way of the DoDo bird. Mining nickle is a nasty business and Nickle cadmium batteries have a memory and shit the bed rather quickly. Most new cars use lithium-ion batteries now. Lithium appears to be better than nickle for the environment so some degree, but green technology is still a nasty business. Most lithium mines are in South Africa and Brazil. Lithium is corrosive and requires special handling to avoid skin contact. Breathing lithium dust or lithium compounds (which are often alkaline) can irritate the nose and throat; higher exposure to lithium can cause a build-up of fluid in the lungs, leading to pulmonary edema. The metal itself is usually a handling hazard because of the caustic hydroxide produced when it is in contact with moisture causing an explosion. Lithium should be stored in a non-reactive compound such as naphtha or a hydrocarbon. Don't fret though, three things about lithium: 1. Buying a battery won't support Saudi Arabia, UAE, or Iran. 2. Michigan is trying to center new create lithium battery production plants to replace the failed American car companies there. 3. Lithium batteries are recyclable. If you invested in lithium back in 2005, you would have turned a 1576% profit buy now. It's still on the rise though. The only thing that really gets me though is you will never here any of the down side of lithium mining from the left though because new battery technology supports their green agenda. I had to look all this up on my own. For a while, I thought it magical appeared from unicorn tears. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Let me tell you what is really going to happen with the aid. It's going to get funneled to Iran for weapons to be shot into Israel. Aid does no good to a country like Palestine who's government is ripe with corruption and has very fucked up priorities. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Help Wanted Ads: "Unemployed People Not Considered".
jgoose71 replied to Andy9o8's topic in Speakers Corner
Sounds great in theory, however, in today's climate of bail outs and companies being to big to fail which has allowed the government to pick winners and losers, what happens when a government protected company takes these policies? I agree, a company should be allowed to live and die by its choices. The problem is if that company has enough lobbyists, it no longer has to worry about that. Glad to see that there are some ships on the way. I noticed that the date of the article is June 2nd. Why did it take so long and why isn't the work being more publicized? Any word on the berms being approved yet? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Right. Because formulation of a relief plan relies on the President personally crafting it using only his own pre-existing knowledge of the resources available. Yeah. Maybe he might surround himself with someone in the know? How many Czars does he have? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Although I frequently believe you post just to entertain yourself and see how riled up you can get people, including myself, the above statements unfortunately put you firmly into conspiracy theory territory and that's just sad. Next time somebody is talking about how 9/11 was caused by GWB and Cheney to start the war, remember this thread. I don't think he is dragging his feet to increase the drama, I think he is dragging his feet because he is to inept to know his resources at hand. On the flip side he is a great campaigner. He has already started doing what he knows how to do best, make speeches. Here comes Cap and Tax again...... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Again, it's a matter of equipment? Exactly where in the fleet do these ships exist? Seriously? Where? You could try these for starters . . . they are big enough to tow booms around. Keep in mind, despite all of the humanitarian missions, medical, and other forms of aid the U.S. Military has provided around the world, to some liberals, the only thing the military can do is kill babies. The idea that some of these boats might be able to perform other missions is, well, unheard of. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. I don't buy it. How often do you see oil and tarballs washing up on the beaches of three states? This is not a normal occurrence, and the normal environmental response isn't going to make it all better. I don't buy it either. it's what they are claiming though. I was living in Alaska when the Exxon Valdez oils spill happened. The spill will eventually get cleaned up and things will go back to normal, the question is how long do you think it will take? Months? Years? This guy was obviously hired as a Spin Artist. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Louisiana isn't asking for berms to be built along the entire coast line. There are 6 specific areas they are asking for protection for various reasons. I think that would be a good start. Spending the last 21 years of my adult life in the navy I can tell you that we don't need a fleet of skimmers. The same systems that make these ships such effective war machines can also be used to help clean up the oil spill. I would expect the Commander-and-Chief to know that. If he is so concerned with the clean up cost, he could mail the bill to BP later. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Again, it's a matter of equipment? Exactly where in the fleet do these ships exist? There existing ships can do it. They can all tow an oil boom. They are all equipped with ballast tanks and holds that can hold this shit. They are all equipped this sea suctions for firefighting equipment. An aircraft carrier can perform relief operations in the wake of tsunamis and earth quakes. What makes you think that the same equipment on other ships don't have peace time uses also? And what about the Army Corps of Engineers? When are they going to be allowed to build burns to protect the marsh lands? Why are they still waiting on "Environmental Impact surveys?" I can tell you what the impact of the oil is going to be, and I'm not even a scientist. That's right. Liberals hate the military. There is no other use for them other than to kill babies. I'm not talking about capping the well when I say coast guard, navy etc... I'm talking about setting up oil booms to catch the oil and clean it up before it hits the beaches and marsh lands. Everyone knows that BP is the experts for capping and drilling relief wells. What about all the shit that is coming to the gulf coast? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Hydrogeologist Lyle Bruce, an employee for BP, says that the gulf is so oil rich that is has a natural seep that occurs into the Gulf every year. This natural seep has allowed for bacteria to evolve that will break down the oil spill in short order after the leak is stopped. My concern is that the amount of oil spilling into the gulf right now will overcome any natural defenses that the gulf may have. Not to mention Obama is basicaly telling BP to handle it and hasn't activated the coast guard, navy, army corps of engineers, or anything else yet that I can tell to help fight it. Thoughts on what the gulf will look like next year? http://maddowblog.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2010/06/03/4457540-bp-hydrogeologist-the-gulf-can-take-it "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying.
