Glad you are o.k. Unless its a tailgate, its better to take a longer rather than shorther delay before opening the wings. You can hit an the tail wing on a Twin Otter as well. I think it has happened before. If the wingsuit flyer is horizontal when the wings are popped open, the chances of popping up are more than if the wingsuit flyer is head high on exit. Another thing to watch out for is that sometimes pilots tend to dive as soon as everyone has exited or when they think everyone has exited(obviously not the issue in this case). Kris.

Now some of us have to choose between Stupino and Kjerag. I am going to Kjerag

A wingsuit flight isn't the time or the place to learn the vary basics of RW(and by RW I mean relative work in all disciplines), things like "dock with no momentum" and all that stuff. The basics need to be learned while flat flying. Of course, some people will say that it can be done while freeflying, but I think trying to learn RW basics in FF is just as bad as trying to do it with wingsuits. Once a jumper has a solid foundation in RW, he or she can add to the mix new things like new body positions(sit, head-down) or a wingsuit. No-one should try to learn to freefly or to fly a wingsuit at the same time they are trying to figure out why "docking on level" is supposed to be a good idea. Did this clear it up for you? General skydiving experience helps one fly a wing suit better. Here's a story... Its August or September 2004, and I have just reached a hundred wingsuit jumps(mostly solos). An experienced jumper(over 5000 jumps) asks me to tell him how to exit, hook up the suit, etc. I ask to go on the jump with him and later, we are both flying above SDC, agreed break off altitude is 5500' and after signalling break-off this dude just takes off like he changed his mind and wants to fly some more. I am flying my GTI and he is in SDC's demo classic II. I had moved off to one side to watch his deployment and look at what's happening with a bit of confusion. He is ahead and below me and deploys at 4500 or so and I fly past him as he is snivelling. I didn't think much of it then but something about that flight that I quite didn't understand and it kept bothering me. Almost a year later I figured it out. Eureka!! This guy was flying at his best glide angle(or close to it) on his first jump and had he done this for a longer period on that jump, I would probably not have been able to catch him. Of course, I only figured this out much much later. Kris.

Is this the same buddy that says he'll never make a BASE jump because it's too dangerous? It always surprises me how skewed some people's perception of risk is and how little thought they actually put into these things. It used to piss me of. Nowadays I just shrug...

Was watching a program on UK History channel and they did some tests on rubberized silk and rubberized the bit where they had just stiched and tested the porosity and the results were a lower porosity than 'Nylon'. I am not sure if they were talking about ZP. I heard the term rubberised mentioned in regards to the pants that were used on these jumps. From what I heard( from a BASE jumper who inturn heard.....) they were using their own design of pants and jacket. The Jacket does not look like a production PF Jacket for sure. Can some that has this information for sure respond please? Kris.

I was replying to FIREFLYR's post. I would like to see more info on the sleeve mod as well. Kris.

Read this post by Han-Solo. He explains this, I have also seen Rook use a similar setup while skydiving. Skreamer is using something like this as well. Kris.

Why don't you use BASEwiki instead of starting another website? Kris.

Thank You. The picture was taken by the camera guy that exited with me just 2-3 secs before he touched down...the next two pics are more blurred than this one(am assuming from the landing). I had looked at these pics for months on my laptop(5 years old ) and never noticed that I was visible until i looked at them on my work laptop(new has great resolution). Camera was a Cannon 20D. Opening was a perfect onheading

You're in blue and the camera guy is in red? I have no fuckin' clue! I am in the blue circle. The camera guy(dmkellett) is the guy who took the picture . He had to land next to the road. Credit goes to the camera dude. Kris.

File names have not been altered, except for the last picture. Really try to spot me in it. Kris.

Intended for people buying wingsuits ofcourse.... I purchased two wingsuits recently and had to go thru my bank for exchanging local currency(Pounds Sterling) to Euros. The first time I did the transfer, I went to my bank, purchased Euros and transferred them. The exchange rate recieved was around 1.43(compared to the market rate of 1.47x). The next time I did it, I asked them to transfer euros but an equivalent of an amount in pounds. I received a 1.467(compared to 1.47x market rate) exchange rate on this transaction. Always make the transaction in local currency with your bank, the receiving bank usually gets a better rate from your bank than you can. Hope this helps. YMMV Kris. P.S: This is the same deal when you pay in a foreign country with your credit/debit card, always ask them to charge you in the local currency of that country.

Since, I am in the U.K till the end of the coming season(summer 2006) Make 30 skydives Kris.

Costyn, Didn't try to imply that you did mate. Ed, I always miss the important bit . You said it better anyways... Kris.

I completely overlooked the fact that by adding a full face helmet which is definately smoother and a more symmetric shape than anyone's head, you are also creating a larger shape and a definately larger entry point. Variable, variables......Ahh......my head hurts!! Kris.
-
Haha I believe it. The huge mass of his scrotum must surely also lower his center of gravity, making him extra stable during flights. Loic and Kathy are the nicest people that I've met in the skydiving world. For the amount of stuff that he has achieved, he is an amazingly humble guy. Kris.
-
O.k, I get it now . I believe I've heard that he does not wear a helmet before....just didn't remember. Kris.
-
Yuri, Two questions.. 1) What helmet do you use? is it carbon fiber protec? 2) What are your thoughts on performance(wingsuit flight) with a full face helmet vs an open face helmet? Kris.
-
I think you are reading too much into it. Form the PF website I do think that any full face helmet is better than an open face helmet or someone's face*. As such, I don't see anything factually wrong with that description. Edited to add: * aerodynamically speaking Kris.
-
I just need a full face helmet. Price is reasonable...especially since I pay in GBP

What wingsuit did she jump? Be safe Ed There are pics on the basejumper.org website, looked like a classic or GTI when I saw it last...can't get to the website from work. Kris.

I only jump legal objects during the day and walk away from these half the time because something didn't feel right. Do I need a mentor? I am just a fair weather 'SE' jumper . Kris.
