I have this annoying habit of talking when I shouldn't. Coworker1: What do you think Chris's son's name is? I heard it as "What do you think Chris's first name is? " Me: Christopher. Ofcourse they knew that one ...what was I thinking? Kris.

Russia - World Wing Suit Boogie and Competition
KrisFlyZ replied to ikenever's topic in Wing Suit Flying
big-way and completion to be held in Stupino Russia. Dates: June 22-25, 2006 Flying there is easyest...and there are a few people/agencies that can help you in arranging everything (VISA/FlIGHT/STAY) We are thinking about actualy going there a week early, so we can do some pre-jumping/partying...(arriving 17 june) I was planning on arriving a bit ahead of time as well, have to see Moscow(never been there). Any more info on Jet rides and prices, etc.? That is a pretty unique opportunity. Kris. -
I don't know if the people turning up at Moab to jump can be attributed to BASE videos. It is the only other place where you can jump legally. I have jumped a big cliff earlier than recommended but Moab, I will visit and watch others jump on my first visit(when I have quite a few BASE jumps first). Kris.

Usually pull around 4K on most jumps. Saddled out at 1300 on one skydive and that was a mistake. I am a dirty high puller. Kris.

Johnny Utah has his packing video on DVD now. I brought one from him in Italy(Sep 2005). Kris.

is anyone jumpin in the uk ??????
KrisFlyZ replied to sky-pimp's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I went to headcorn yesterday but the winds were too high. They are supposed to be jumping at Hinton today. Kris. -
I couldn't agree more. Be safe Ed My opinion is a bit different on this, if you can recover from a shitty situation you don't really need to be able to do a barrel roll or acrobatics perfectly. Do you fail AFF students if their barrel rolls or flips are not perfect but they can recover from the instability? Doing a barrel roll in a wingsuit by collapsing the arm wings and easing up on the leg wing is easy. Trying Barrel rolls without collapsing the wings.... usually results in spins for me. And I mean no collapsing the wings at all. The spin starts because controlling the residual mometum is hard...after one or a few rolls. Kris. Edited to add: ...after one or a few rolls.

I had been reading up on the forums, the flybirdman site and all the manufacturer websites leading up to jumping a wingsuit, so the reaction to having a flat spin was almost instantaneous. This can certainly be a mind fuck, even though I was never dizzy, it is a bit disorienting. Maybe because I was not used to that kind of visuals. Flat Spin 1 Suit : Classic II Reason: Exit Altitude Lost: around 500-1000' Cutaway wings? : No Dizzy?? : No It was easy to recover. Flat Spin nos 2 & 3 Suit : GTI(on the same jump) Reason: Trying Barrel rolls without collapsing the wings. Altitude Lost: around 500-1000' spun on to back on the first one and a bit more on the second one Cutaway wings? : No Dizzy?? : No It was easy to recover from the first one so I tried harder to do the Barrel roll(I think looking down insted of keeping the eyes level with the horizon caused the spin) and the resulting spin was a little more challenging to recover from. Flat Spin Nos 4 & 5 Similar to above except for the fact that the suit was the S-fly. Flat Spin Nos 6 Suit : V-1 Reason: Helicopter that was moving forward, exit was at an angle to the relative wind and also opened wings too quickly. Altitude Lost: around 1000' Cutaway wings? : No Dizzy?? : No Kris.

This may help throw some light on the experiences people have had with regards to flat spins while flying a wingsuit(Read Matt's post from the other "Flat Spin on SM.com" thread). This will keep all the experiences in one place and we can add a link to and from the other thread. Please post as much detail as you can remember. I have experienced a flat spin 5 times. I will be posting a detailed account of each one this evening, once I get home. Include these details(suggestions for any I have missed are welcome) 1) Wingsuit(Make, Model and Year ) 2) Reason for Flat spin(exit, bump, acrobatics, etc.) 3) How long did it take you to recover? 4) Did you cut the wings away? 5) How much 'G-Force' do you think you experienced during this? was it easy to move your hands, did you feel dizzy or lightheaded..yadda, yadda. Kris.

How do you feel about separating your rig & suit?
KrisFlyZ replied to skyflyingbecca's topic in Wing Suit Flying
That's blasphemous! Its like wingsuit polygamy. When did you move to Utah? Or do they have Mormons in the UK? I'm an ignorant American, I don't know these things. Wingsuit polygamy is allowed, encouraged even Kris. -
How do you feel about separating your rig & suit?
KrisFlyZ replied to skyflyingbecca's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Yeah, but don't you own like 12 suits? So you'd need to separate them to hook up a different suit? I have not owned more than 2 suits at a time while I was jumping in the U.S. I own 4 wingsuits(only jumped 2 of them) and pants + jacket. I used to unhook and rehook the suit even when I owned only one suit so that it didn't get worn while packing. I used to unhook and rehook SDC's loaner Classic II that I learnt on. Now, I pack with the suit attached to the rig but I feel bad everytime. It is just a habit. Kris. -

As with any big mountain range, I am sure there is plenty of jumping opportunities in the Himalayas. For many reasons, the himalayas are probably not that popular. However, India has a lot more accessible earthbound jump locations, not as high as the Himalayas but plenty high. Kris.

Thanks for sharing. Kris.

It does look great. Tells me I can lack imagination sometimes. Have fun flying it. Kris.

Watching the golden age of wingsuits from the ground?
KrisFlyZ replied to Viking's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Hey guys, I said Hypothetically. So instead of feeling the need to preach , can we be Hypothetical? Cheers, Kris.
