Never really tried the collapse wings technique...after getting spanked consistently for 7-8 jumps a day, adopted the sit up on deployment technique like SM1 posted somewhere. That took the kick out of the openings. Now, I pitch in full flight. It seems to work fine...but I have been jumping the Prodigy a lot and the phantom a little...not many V1 jumps. Kris.

Like I said, I was stating the obvious
-
I was just stating the obvious really. If you take 15 gps points, you can get the total distance by summing the distance between point 1 and 2 and 2 and 3 and so on or by directly calculating the distance between point 1 and point 15. Both will be equal if they all lie on a straight line...if not.... Hope to get an entry into tracking derby this weekend..... Kris.

Just saw the video. Nice work!! With a bearing that changed continuously(even if it was very slight changes at times), Am I correct in assuming that you used a summation of the immediate GPS points to get the distance number? On a 15 sec flight segment I was looking at on one of my flights, even though the bearing change was subtle, the distance was off by almost 10% if calculating a to b using the end points vs...calculating for a to b using all the 15 points. Kris.

I have not seen the video yet, but have been doing calculations using GPS coordinates and that is easy to do in Excel. Costyn, Did you use Perl for all your calculations? Kris. The paralog one looks nice.

Thanks for the replies. Kris.

Can a velcro riser cover closed rig be used for wingsuit flying? I am thinking it would not be an issue. My second rig is a really old racer. Leg strap mounted PC, velcro closed riser covers and all. I will be using a WS PC pouch or have aa BOC pouch sewn. Anything to watch out for? Kris.

Don't have internet at home. so can't browse as much...Thanks Macca. I was thinking of possibly...a request from PF to not distribute pictures because they want to finalize details, etc. Kris.

Waaaa Waaaaa ... guess I'll just have to wait till mine arrives . Kris. P.S: Are you being serious about PF not wanting to release pics yet?

People that attended ZFlock .... post pics please. Kris.

Looks like great body position for the first flight. I averaged 100 mph plus on my first one . Kris.

Have fun Flockers!!

I have to admit. I don't know why they are 9', thought the reason was to clear the burble. The closest post that I could find on here that adressed this question is this one. Kris.

Dan, Because you are asking about the risers which were a minor concern, I am assuming that you have already decided to bin the 6' bridle. Tree, Is this a standard bridle for the Huck-It? Kris.

I don't know where else to post this but figured this forum may be the best one. Is that a standard sliding mount designation? I purchased a Edge 305 GPS recently and it comes with a mount that the unit slides on to the number "can 210" is marked on the plastic next to the mount. Will post pictures this friday (when I get back home). Does anyone know what "Can 210" is? Kris.

If you are experienced and can spend atleast two days on one jump, there are a few spots on the west coast that need to be opened . The jump itself is fairly easy (massively overhanging wall with roughly 1000m of usuable alti) the logistics are not. Not sure if this is the best season as well. Kris.

Dug up and looked at the video...it was between 30 degrees and 45 degrees off heading...guess I was too excited about nothing . Kris.

Congratulations!! I purchased a black and orange GTI. mostly because the Classic II I jumped at SDC was orange and white and I liked the orange color. Then it was a Silver and Black S3(black thread.tabs..zippers etc ) ..which was awesome on the ground but not the most visible suit in the sky. Now, I purchase orange and yellow suits only. Kris.

Voted option 5. 11 jumps from 2 objects. 8 slider down...max 2 sec delay....mostly fine...one there was an off heading between 90 and 180 to the right. Maybe a packing error mixed with assymetric body position....the video shows the left side of the canopy inflate first and fly off to the right. 3 terminal.......half a line twist on the first one. Rest were fine. Kris.

Anyone know the Glide Ratio(or horizontal distance...as height is already posted) required to reach the Base Camp? Kris.

Got to fly my phantom for 3 jumps this weekend. Anymore and my hands would have been amputated(-20 degrees C up there). The Phantom is fast and amazingly stable. I did not think of that until I read Nick's post again but stable is definately a word I would use to describe all the flights. Did I mention fast?. Because I was not wearing a GPS yet, I cannot say exactly how much distance I covered or what the the forward speeds were. A good estimate would be that I covered more distance (per descended altitude...I have done several jumps from 23K) than I ever covered in any suit (yes more than I have flown in the V-1 ...mostly due to not flying the V-1 solo that much) Going purely for distance the speeds at 9K and 6K were 42 and 46 mph respectively. The average was 53 but I collapsed my wings at 5.5 K for a thousand feet before opening. I have never experienced the sensations I felt today on the 3rd jump on my Phantom. It has been about 3.5 hours since the jump and I am still beaming and buzzing a little(no I did not have an beers after the jumping). Kris.

Decided to purchase the Edge 305 for the following reasons. 1) Barometric Alti 2) Just 10 grams heavier than the Foretrex. 3) Thinner and smaller than the Vista(Size: 4.4"H x 2.0"W x 1.2"D (11.2 x 5.1 x 3.0 cm)) Edge(1.75"W x 3.7"H x .9"D). 4) The unit has a mount that can be fixed to the helmet much like a camera mount can be. Once this is accomplished, taking the GPS on a jump is easy and hands free(for most part anyway). Kris.

I am looking forward to a season of GPS flights and believe that it works. I don't care that much about true L/D. I will always measure it against the wind direction when possible and that should give me a X.y+ number. BTW, I jumped my Phantom today. OMG !!

I know I am replying to my own post... Some Theory Kris.
