    3KM + from 1600M(or 1800M) exit point? Awesome!! Kris.

There is always(other than in perfect headdown) wind hitting the bottom surface of the flyer, but that is not possible to tune the wind hitting the bottom of the wings in a wind tunnel(IMO)...especially because the pilot makes a big difference in the wing area. If we ignore the 3rd dimension(for max forward speed or glide the pilot needs to be in the same plane from wingtip to wingtip across the wingspan). The movement can be split into vertical and horizontal(result being the glidepath)...the horizontal is what is being looked at in these studies. Kris.
  3. Enjoy your new suit dude. Keen eye there Costyn

Just a guess..but isn't that where the relative wind is coming from? Kris.
  5. GTI(sold to buy S3) S3(sold) S-Fly(sold) Prodigy(for sale) Phantom V-1 (sold) V2 Not near nine . O.k, can we get back to regularly scheduled programming? Kris.
  6. Just making sure that 111 knows it..... Kris.
  7. That's a Jarno original...I picked up on here Kris.
  8. You could have won the contest at Russia with that GR. Different kind of air.....the most pressure drop happens in the first 4000'?? Kris
  9. What is there to not get? I am just disappointed that more people are not flying the Phantom. "Shame on the wingsuit community" is like I am disappointed in you class . But mostly it is just shock that there were less than 100 Phantoms out there. I believed there were a lot more out there....should have used (this was my first choice). instead of . You're right...I probably have less than 50 jumps in total on the Phantom. Shows how easy to fly the suit is if I can fly it at 2 plus Glide Ratio on BASE jumps. I flew it back from Smellveggan and pulled over the green landing area next to the campground. When did you start keeping records of how many suits I have? . I own three wingsuits a Prodigy, a Phantom and a V2(in production). As for making up my mind....what are you talking about? Kris.
  10. The Phantom is the best suit to jump out of an airplane. It is small enough for beginners and performs like a champion (well...do I need to get into that?). IMO, the phantom is a suit every wingsuit pilot buying a first suit should consider. I think it is sad that only 100 people own a Phantom. As for Jarno's argument of the total number of wingsuit pilots in Europe being 150, I'll disagree...there is probably close to 100 WS BASE jumpers in Europe. Kris.
  11. There is only a 100 Phantoms out there? Shame on the wingsuit community . Kris.
  12. Are you tuning this suit for fast horizontal speed only? Kris.
  13. I highly doubt it....today's BAA announcement in the Metro said that very small hand luggage (with a lod of restrictions on what can be carried) is allowed onboard. Check out www.baa.com for more details.
  14. Which is thicker? The S6? Yeah, that is what I gathered(S6 has thicker wings). But Macca reads these forums so better to wait for him to confirm. He is the only guy that I know of that has owned both suits(and everyone knows what happened to the S3S ). Kris.
  15. Thanks Yuri. I have jumped the V1 and the Phantom but can't say I have the ability to register what is happening during the exit...unless I am going headlow(only did that on the prodigy and that seems counterintuitive). Kris.
  16. I have not flown the S6 or the S3S but from what Macca told me the arm wings have a thicker airfoil. Kris.

Looks good...where's the video? and what 460 said....info please. Kris.
  18. Does the wingsuit(make model) you are flying affect how quickly 'flying' starts(assuming the exit was a good one)? In other words, based on experience....do you think the wing characteristics play a part in how quickly 'flight' starts? Do not confuse this with how quickly movement away from the object starts....just how quickly you feel like the suit gets to full flight(let's not split hairs on this
  19. So, I have an iPod and am pissed that I cannot buy songs from the US store(I live in the U.K...and was looking to buy Breathe by Anna Nalick)...is there a place that does not impose restrictions from where I can buy music if I have say another mp3 player. Kris.
  20. You are right Luke. I just wanted to post some pics of myself. I already had posted all the videos I had so.......... I flew back from Smellveggan and opened over land in the Phantom. I pulled much lower than I would have liked.....10-15sec canopy ride. I gave up on the first 6 tries at about 20 secs because I was afraid of getting wet. And really only made it back once in 13 flights(pulled high enough to fly back under canopy on 11 attempts...) from Smell. I have not been rolling the shoulders that much...definately something to do on the future flights. Kris.
  21. I read the post and I think the focus of that post was something else. There is no absolutes in the real world. In Aero(phys) 101 (or when people that understand too well try to explain to students one thing at a time) things are taught that way and as you go to more advanced courses....more and more things that were ignored in 101 will be brought up. I read that post in the same way. Try it for shits and giggles and let us know what happens...I haven't been able to even jump here in the past two weeks. I don't have the means to sew inlets shut on a suit but I will bet a jumpticket that the suit(with shut inlets) will start to 'fly' later. Kris.
  22. Nice One!! That is something new I learnt today
  23. You talk about stall speed...want to guess what the stall speed of a suit(lets say a phantom or a FIREBIRD R) would be if the wing inlets were sewn shut when compared to the same suit with the inlets open? Now you want to revisit the issue of the importance of wing inflation to the onset of 'flight'? Kris.
  24. I believe they would fall under the "they know exactly what they are doing " category . Kris.
