When should Obama stop blaming Bush?
Andrewwhyte replied to downwardspiral's topic in Speakers Corner
There are people on here still blaming FDR. -
That's part of becoming a citizen. Unless of course they were born a citizen.

British Summer Time ends this sunday morning :-{
Andrewwhyte replied to shropshire's topic in The Bonfire
You know, we've been saving daylight since 1916. Isn't it about time we started spending a bit? (shamelessly stolen from last night's idiot box). -
The real question it why is he joining the service if he doesn't want to serve?

In fact there is a reasonable expectation that most nations "might" attack most other nations. Japan had a reasonable expectation that the US might attack in 1941. Do you think their pre-emptive strike was morally justified?

Well, that would be the will of God.

Nashville TV News story on Skyride
Andrewwhyte replied to BillyVance's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I have never been to a DZ that doesn't. If I bought a skydive and the load didn't go due to weather, I would expect my money back. -
Should the BNP be allowed to voice their views on the BBC?
Andrewwhyte replied to shropshire's topic in Speakers Corner
Not only should they be allowed, but as a public broadcaster the BBC should be forced to give them equal time to labour and the Tories. It takes no fortitude whatsoever to protect freedom of speech for those you agree with. -
"Interfering" with evolution is like a damm interferes with a river. The effect is temporary and often the correction is more stochastic than would be otherwise. The current flu concerns are a case in point. Many of the people who are going to die this winter from H1N1 are people with problems that would have killed them earlier without modern medcine. The effects of society tend to have a profound tendancy to push survival of the fittest onto groups rather than individuals. Large scale fitness to survive events remove large swaths of the gene pool. The invasions of North America and Australia comes to mind (South Americans and Africans seem to have fared a bit better). On the other hand within our society evolution seems to favour uneducated trailer trash and middle class bible thumpers over highly educated, driven professionals.

If the Dutch lived in Ireland it would be a garden; if the Irish lived in Holland they would all drown.

EXCELLENT! Nothing like a book burning to usher in Todos Santos.

Actually The only place I hear about them is here and the supermarket lineup. I know there are some TV channels that specialise in them and their ilk (like the CNN gossip/child molester channel) but I don't watch them.

Riggers: What percentage of reserve repacks have an AAD?
Andrewwhyte replied to Andrewwhyte's topic in Gear and Rigging
So the numbers (weighted average) look like ~80%. That's what my rigger thought as well. -
I was trained reserve only. I teach cutaway and reserve. When I had a drogue in tow I cutaway (without effect) and reserve.

Riggers: What percentage of reserve repacks have an AAD?
Andrewwhyte replied to Andrewwhyte's topic in Gear and Rigging
Just curious. I often find that what is considered normal in my corner of the world is not normal elsewhere. -
Riggers: What percentage of reserve repacks have an AAD?
Andrewwhyte replied to Andrewwhyte's topic in Gear and Rigging
Not including School or tandem gear. I am going to presume those numbers are 100%. If they are not that is a topic for another day. -
A nice glass of wine with the temperature just right. That can be a nice warm evening outside, or nice and warm on a cold night.

Move towards the white light, then tell him you're sorry.

Great sports team/individual rivalries?
Andrewwhyte replied to npgraphicdesign's topic in The Bonfire
Eagles vs. Cowboys Say WHAT? The Eagles have mostly been an also ran team in the NFC east (the only member with zero superbowls). The rivalry is the Cowboys-Redskins. -
Credit card companies jacking rates, etc. to beat new consumer law

You bought a motorcycle on a credit card? -
Carrying a gun increases risk of getting shot and killed
Andrewwhyte replied to Skyrad's topic in Speakers Corner
Nothin in the study indicates causality. Carying a gun coincides with an increased risk of being shot and killed. I don't carry a gun because I live in Canada and no one else does either. If I lived in Texas I would probably get one.
