I'm done with the new book. Wow...abso-frigging-amazing! You can tell how much she is maturing her writing style based on the age of the main characters. I would hardly call this latest installment juvenile fiction. I'm not going to give away any spoilers, but in regards to who dies, I didn't see it coming. The ending is the best ever as well.

I think that percentage is a bit high. If you are counting the incidence per jumper and if you go by USPA's guess of 34K active jumpers, the percentage should be 0.10%. If you are going by the guess of number of jumps at 3-4 million per year in the US, then it would average a 0.0010% chance of fatality/jump. Even though Mike Palmer, the DZO of Oklahoma Skydiving Center and I didn't part on the best of terms, I have nothing but well wishes and condolences to him, his staff, and the family and friends of the pilot that was lost and the students who were injured. OSC staff aren't just the people you hang with on the weekend, they treat each other as deep as family and this loss will be hitting them really hard. I never knew Steven, he wasn't flying when I left last year, but if he was flying for Mike then he was one of the best. OSC has enjoyed an impeccable safety record up until this incident. The student gear is top notch, the student program is well planned, and Mike goes above & beyond when it comes to airplane maintenance and putting money back into his business to make it better and safer. Mike's #1 policy is to "err on the side of safety" as he puts it. My thoughts and prayers go out to him, the instructors I know there (Bobby, Tommy, Tony, & Larry) and the rest of the staff (Jeri, Augie, and Andy).
