OMG! You did not just go there! *high-five* That's it, I have accepted Sunshine as my personal savior. This girl knows how to throw a beatin'. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

I think the Muslims, who outnumber Christians by at least 5 to 1, may take some offense to that. As will the Buddhists, Shintoists, Jewish, Hindu, and several others. Christianity isn't the big player in world religion so it always amazes me that it has the attitude that it does. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Robin, I will definitely be at WFFC! All my best to Don and I hope he's feeling better. Tell him to lay off the Sabre and stick with his Omni from now on. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

By consistent, I believe he means that it is a soft, snivelly opening. The original Sabre had a well-earned reputation for being a canopy that could open violently. My old Sabre left me stuck in bed for two days with a wrenched back after a bad opening. Another jumper on here was life-flighted out a couple of weekends ago after a Sabre opening. You either get one that opens decently or you get a canopy that makes you flinch as you reach for the hacky. My Stiletto is a much nicer canopy in that regard. No matter what I do it is a nice, soft, on-heading opening. No rolling the nose, no worrying about how tight to keep the tail. I just stuff it in the bag and go. It is true that a Sabre is more forgiving of bad body position on opening though. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

*Grabs camera helmet* Okay, the lighting is set. Andy, I'll need you to stay out of the frame until the last 2 seconds. Action! Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Definitely true, Bill. I was just trying to show that all reserves have to be TSO certified for use in the USA and that just because a reserve wasn't made by PD doesn't mean that it's garbage. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Chuck, the way you think about safety is just one of the many reasons why I respect you. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Incriminating quotes? Something about the shot, your throat, and odd swallowing feelings? I would never post anything like that.

Awwww...shucks! Yeah, I'm now 9 years away from my POPS membership. Thanks everyone. That really means a lot coming from my DZ.com pals. I look forward to seeing all of you at one boogie or another this year. Skymama, happy birthday as well! Damn, we Gemini's know how to rock! Well, it depends on the features you want and what you plan to do with it. Do you want MP3 capability? Is it for a daily driver or are you looking to really expand your system? Personally, I run a Pioneer DEH-P740MP as my source unit. It plays MP3's, has multi-changer control, XM satellite ready, digital EEQ, 4v pre-outs for front, rear & sub, and built-in two-way crossover with full subwoofer controls built in. This deck is a monster and does everything I ask of it. I have always been really impressed with Pioneer's Premier line and have never been disappointed. If you don't want to use an amp, the 50x4 built-in amp isn't too shabby. I believe it puts out 25-30 watts RMS a channel. Also, the fact that one of the screensavers is of skydivers (no kidding) doesn't hurt either. For other decks, you can't go wrong with Eclipse, Clarion, or Alpine. For my home theater, I run nothing but Sony, but I have never been impressed with their mobile-audio products. Sound Domain is an excellent vendor on the web that will not do you wrong. Crutchfield is okay, but their prices are outrageous. What makes you think you'll have your first reserve ride at your DZ...or in Kansas for that matter? You need to have a reserve that you can fly and land when everything, including your LZ, has gone to hell. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Crap...do I really have to agree with Jess. Sigh. Yes, I do. Definitely the blue/blue! Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

That's one of the best questions you could have asked and it's a question only you can answer. Realize that when you have to use your reserve, pretty much everything may have gone to shit. At 1000', with no hope of ever getting back to the DZ, faced with a tight landing area....well, is that really the place that you want to jump something you're uncomfortable with, at a higher wingloading, for the first time? Play it safe. Stick with something around 1:1 - 1.15:1 in a reserve for your experience level. Heck, I have a Tempo v2.0 210 crammed into my Mirage instead of the PD-160 that is supposed to fit in there. I like having as much square footage as possible.

Don't let your gear snobbery blind you. All reserves sold in the US have to meet TSO certification and they are all drop-tested well in excess of anything you or I will ever load them at. The PISA Tempo has been certified under TSO C23c and they have been drop tested with 300 pounds at 200MPH and passed. Don't confuse manufacturer max with TSO limits. One is for liability, one is for certification. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
