we've had calves out the wazoo this spring!!! And lots of other babies too....ducks, geese, chicks, pigs, goats. But I was out watching a mama cow and her little baby about a month ago, and it was the FIRST time that I had ever seen one of them EAT the placenta. I knew they did it, but GYAAAAA!!!! If you've never seen it first hand, it's something that'll stick in your psyche. I'm just glad that we don't have to do that.... Okay....if you put aside the fact that it's OUR military (to maybe remove some of the emotion and sense of nationalism that many of us feel) do you think that citizens of any country who serve in the military should feel obligated to follow ANY orders given by their equivalent of commander in chief? So go to the extreme and say that Commander in Chief is equivalent to Hitler (as that comparison has been drawn recently). I'm not saying that's what's happening here, but you're basically saying that people should obey blindly, or at least that's what I'm gathering. I believe that somewhere each individual should cease to see him-/herself as property and instead as a citizen and human being that will not participate in some endeavors. How do you find that line? I really don't know how I feel about it. On one hand we can't have people in the military thinking it's okay to jump ship whenever they have second thoughts. Shouldn't have joined in the first place if that was a possibility. But I also think that what we're doing in Iraq is SO ABSOLUTELY and INCREDIBLY WRONG! I personally would refuse to serve there if by some crazy stretch I was told to. I would not hesitate to serve, though (despite my advancing age), in something I thought was legitimate. At some point there has to be a line that an individual will not cross in the name of serving his or her country. I don't think we're there yet, though I think we're getting close. Hmmm....theoretically, if we all had low levels of MAO, then we'd also have low levels of depression, as low MAO means high serotonin. I have to disagree. I think we should give the women and children a chance to leave the cities these animals are hiding in, flatten all of their "holy" cities, salt the ground so that nothing will ever grow there again, and hope that those barbarians learn a lesson. We have shed our blood to free the people of Iraq, why the hell aren't they handing these filthy subhumans over to us? But you're assuming the women and children feel differently than the men do. I suppose there are more than a handful of men, women and children who will be glad when/if they are finally "liberated." I imagine ther are plenty other men, women and children who want us all dead. What makes you think these women and children will disperse passively? willingly? Do you propose that we just flatten them all? I think that it's these knee-jerk responses that got us in this mess to begin with. Had we not invaded this country then I don't imagine this contractor would have been killed. I think it's horrible that it has happened. It makes me ill. It makes me equally sick that we went charging in there like cowboys, despite protests from many American people, and expected that because we were America that the people of Iraq would kiss our feet. This was bound to happen, and to think otherwise is very short-sighted. I'm very angry that these atrocities are happening to our people. I didn't attack his character, but I do believe the quote was absolutely stupid! What does he base that garbage talk on? There's nothing to back it up except his own thinking. I prefer my thinking over his, and I'm nowhere near as bright as many of my friends here. But I do think my lightbulb's got a few watts on his, so he must be pretty dim...lol. I don't see that homosexuals are immoral. I cannot for the life of me come to that conclusion by any well thought-out reasoning. However, the Bible does use figurative language sometimes to be taken symbolically. Parables are also used sometimes to explain ideas. On the other hand, the Bible also uses language sometimes inferring specificity. I’m not prepared to say, in reference to the “rib” thing, that it was either. To me, it doesn’t matter. GIRL!!!! Do I know your pain! I study a lot....and I'm not gettin' any. Work a lot...not gettin' any. Don't think it really is worth the effort. I don't drink too much, but when I did, it didn't help. Cut back on the drinkin'....still wasn't gettin' any. . Tried all KINDS of drugs....got a little....lol. One day I'm gonna have to friggin' leave my kid with a babysitter and get some again! All that's to say I don't have any useful advice for ya, but I do know your pain. I'm not really sure how they work (uh-hem since I've never looked into it myself), but I don't think it rids your body of the substance, but interacts with metabolites so that they don't show up on a drug screen. Hey Kelly. Sounds like your friend needs a good bitch slappin' In most states, the responsibility is on the patient to report themselves. Doctors are, in theory, protected by confidentiality laws if they do not report. However, they are usually not bound by confidentiality laws NOT to report. In a few states(including Arkansas where I live) the responsibility is on the physician, and doctors are mandated by law to report epilepsy to the state. Of course there's a difference, and I don't think it's very subtle. It's genetically selecting a child for a particular use. That doesn't preclude one from loving this child, but it certainly opens a new door.... For a parent to believe that there is no difference would be to delude oneself. However....like others, I don't think I would hesitate to take advantage of the same technology if I were faced with losing my child. And I'm certain I would love the second child too. I don't know if my concern would be of the psychological effect to either of the children, but more of the issue of genetically selecting children to for, like quade said, a pharmaceutical role. Whenever we push a new limit, I have to wonder where it will lead.... When this becomes common practice, it will likely cease to raise so many eyebrows. What kind of mindset will we develop about children's roles and children's rights. This seems to be the type thing we might select livestock for, but it strikes me oddly when it's in the context of children.
