Have you checked to see if your school offers any group policies? Mine does, and they may not be as picky since they cover a lot of people and the risk is spread out.... Just a thought. I think I mentioned in an earlier thread that neither will I perform abortions nor would I ever (barring strange unforseen situations) have one because I feel that abortion is wrong. Okay...now let me ask this. Say 24 (that's a bit early) weeks is the time designated as the time a fetus can live outside the womb. So then say that a pregnant woman decides that, because society demands that she provide an environment for this life until it's deemed capable of living outside of her uterus, she will rupture her membranes at 24 weeks. The kid's on his/her own then, because it IS capable of life outside of her with medical assistance, and she never wanted the kid inside of her anyway.... What then? Let me ask you this....suppose the mother is a cocaine addict. (This should've been on the OTHER thread, but it's locked now). Say she got pregnant while she was high, and her capacity for giving-a-shit about the blastocyst/embryo/fetus inside of her is impaired. That's just reality for a LOT of folks. I've seen a lot of crack babies this year, and it's friggin sad. NO CHANCE for those kids. Would it be better if they had been aborted, or should their "right" to life doom them to the life that's ahead of them? They can't choose.... I think you're right mike, that many (if not most) DO's don't practice OMM, but there are still plenty who do. I personally like my chiropractor, but I've worked with some DO's who are REALLY good with manipulation too. Just gotta find 'em. I don't think there's really any comparison anymore between DOs and chiropractors though, and if I were starting from scratch (i.e. haven't used my chiropractor for years), I would definately search for a good DO for any musculoskeletal complaints. Pajarito...come on now....I'm not saying that it is THE PRIMARY mode of action. I agree with you. All I'm saying (so that she would understand where this topic came from) was that: 1) If 1-2% of people get pregnant while on the pill (and I'm not specifying if they take it correctly) then 2) at LEAST that many have made it past the first few modes of operation (i.e. ovulation, thickened secretions) and then 3) Some percentage in there (between the 1-2% who got pregnant and the 98-99% who did not) were stopped due to the other effect (i.e. atrophy of the endometrium). It may be down on the list in terms of what is MEANT to occur, but there are no studies that I'm aware of that can quantify that. I would imagine that the way a person takes the pill probably affects the percentage of pregnancies that are avoided this way though (that is just my own speculation though). The issue with oral contraceptives that started this thread is that one of the actions of oral contraceptives is to change the uterine lining so that it cannot support a pregnancy. The pill, if taken correctly should keep a woman from ovulating, but people often miss doses of medications. So an embryo (really not even an embryo at this stage) would be miscarried. My point earlier was that if the pill is 98-99% effective, then there is 1-2% chance of pregnancy while on the pill.
