Until they are destroyed, that is. ------------------------------------------------------------How naive is that? Do you still live in that old Nintendo-dream-world where at the end of Level 10 you kill the big Robo-enemy, you get a Hi-Score, go home with the princess and everything will be Lubbydubby forever? Some people just won't understand that the so-called "War on Terror" can NEVER be "won". The wording itself is stupidly polemic and suggesting that it's a "fight" which if fought hard enough, could be won. It's much more complicated than that. _______________________________________________ No, in fact I don't live in that world you described. Never have. I live in the world where assholes fly planes into buildings filled with people. If you think I'm "naive" or an idiot or whatever because I want to rid the world of these types, so be it. I really could care less. You can be as clever and condescending as you want, if it makes you feel better (I admit it, I'm just a stupid American), but that won't change the facts. If nobody had had the balls to oppose Hitler, where would the world be now? I suppose they should have just tried to understand him, right?

"If we do not go this route, the US will get attacked again" So, you think they everything will be hunky dory if we just bring home the troops? The radical elements have been attacking us for years (1st WTC bombing, african embassies, USS Cole, etc), and they are not going to stop, period. Until they are destroyed, that is.

Daschle going away is like the icing on a sweet, sweet cake! Good riddance.

Does the american election affect the rest of the world?

We have the untied nations ------------------------------------------------------ Typo or Freudian slip??? You tell me. ROFL... ____________________________________________ I was thinking the exact same thing. "Untied Nations". Yes, it fits perfectly. -
Prevention is easy when you have a crystal ball. If you have one I'd recommend you give it to whoever ends up being our next president.

What you may have missed is that there is a large and growing populace out there that would like to see all of the west (particularly the US and Israel) vaporized by whatever means necessary. Many believe that they will stop at nothing in their attempts to accomplish this goal. Stopping these madmen from doing this is the focus of the "war on terror". All those things you mentioned are important, but if the people who wish to destroy us succeed, than those things don't really matter at all.

Well, the site said "story not available" or something. Honestly, though, Amnesty International slamming Bush is about as newsworthy as Kallend slamming Bush. It implies that there is a time when they are NOT doing that.

HELSTAR - Texas old school metal ________________________________________ Man, I haven't heard that name in awhile. Used to play gigs with those guys all the time. -
I may be biased, but I still laughed like hell. So there.

That's pretty damn good. That kid definitely has talent.

It get's cheaper, on a per jump basis, but when you find you and your S/O are doing 5-6 jumps each per day(like me and mine), just the "cheap" jumps add up quick. Skydiving is like a drug - a very expensive one.

That's the fuckin' funniest thing I've ever read on this site. Thanks!

I can pack a Spectre 170 in my J2. Not sure how that compares to a Sabre volume-wise.

If you like insane guitar, check out a guy named Ron Jarzombek. This guy rules. Spastic Ink web site

That's the method I was taught and I have found it to work quite well. I don't think I could get it in the bag any other way.
-
Thanks. I usually always carry some of the regular ones with me, but on this occasion I had run out. I'll replace it before I jump this weekend.
-
When I was packing after my last jump last Sunday, I needed a rubber band, and the only one I could find was one of those really wide ones. It looks like a normal "big" rubber band, only twice as wide. Is this a bag lock waiting to happen?

Good luck Douva and Jeff!

The "First Person Down" Rule
meltdown replied to Breezejunky's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
"First person down" works fine in most circumstances, but I had a situation a few weeks ago that was kind of interesting. I was the low man, and expected to be the first to land, so I started my pattern. While I was on my base leg, a swooper came out of nowhere and beat me down. I was too low at that point to follow him so I stayed my course. Then, another swooper came in and didn't see me as I was on final until the last second, and was forced to abort his swoop. Well, of course I heard it from swooper number two about following the first down, blah blah blah, even though he landed in a direction that wasn't following ANYBODY, including the first guy down, or me, the first guy to start any kind of pattern. I talked to the S&TA and he said I didn't do anything wrong, but it still kind of pissed me off. -
I can't imagine a weekend going by without being there at some point (well, except for AOT this past weekend).
-
We had fun. And Sally the rat-dog liked it too.
-
Be careful. I fucked up a knee trying to run faster then my legs would go - I don't think it's ever going to heal completely.
-
The rubber band fix has worked well for my '97 Javelin, along with tightening the closing loop.
-
I was thinking about trying it in another 100 jumps or so, but this nutty guy at my DZ kept doing these "groundsurf" landings last weekend that looked pretty whack...so I dunno. Oh wait - never mind.
