In Reply To ------------------------------------------------------------I keep trying to get Douva to surf it across the back pond but he won't do it. Maybe it will be one of those "here hold my beer" moments this weekend. ------------------------------------------------------------ Have you seen that pond lately? After the last seven months of rain, it's been officially dubbed Lake Fentress. I don't mind giving it a try, but I'd like to have a rigger pull my cypress first (and I might like to track down a lifejacket, also). ----------------------------------------------------------- You can borrow Zoe's water wings.

I jump a Spectre, and I usually dump at 3500. A few jumps ago, I had major line twists followed by a tangled up slider. I messed with it down to 2k, then chopped it. I was under the reserve by 1500, and had no problem getting to the DZ and landing. On a side note, the ground crew at Skydive Dallas ROCKS for tracking down my canopy and freebag, and picking my canopy out of a tree with no damage.

The bureaucrats don't give a darn about riggers income. ____________________________________________ Nor should they. Although, sometimes it seems like the tax code was set up to employ accountants

I hang mine in the closet on a special hanger made out of 3" pvc and an eye bolt. Works well, keeps it out of the way and the pvc pretty much matches up with the curves on the shoulder straps/harness. I figure that's gotta be better than tossing it in a corner.

Be like me and suck equally at all disciplines.

Mmmmm......floor pie.

Is that Mark Deverter? I thought he had a day job as a computer contractor.

I can't really complain. We've had some massive medical bills, and the insurance (Humana HMO) has paid practically everything. Including a $30k operation for my daughter that they didn't have to. This took much goading and jumping through hoops, but in the end they paid. They also paid $140k for the first 75 days of my daughters life, which were spent in neonatal intensive care. Then there's the weekly therapy. You get the picture. Evil, I tell you.

I enjoy reading everyone's opinions, and even though I'm right leaning on many issues, it's good to hear reasonable voices on the left (of which there are several on these boards).

I forgot about the rattlesnake! I was on that load but only heard about the snake later that night. There were a couple of kitties hanging round the DZ Saturday. Maybe we can train 'em to patrol the grounds for snakes and other pesky critters.
-
Actually alot of interesting things happened Saturday: 1. The tractor mishap 2. A couple of unnamed folks showing off "hardware enhancements" (for lack of a better word) 3. Two nekkid chicks on the same load! Pretty good day all around.

You shoulda been at our dropzone last Saturday. What a show.
-
Oh, and I forgot. They have their own dedicated couch at the dropzone, and Douva has the kick ass spandex Santa pants. What other team can boast that?
-
My favorite team is LAST (Last American Skysurfing Team). Those dudes kick serious ass over all the other skysurfing teams.

"Specially considering he always takes on the super rich" Hello. He IS the super rich.

I just hope we can get enough people signed up to actually make it happen. There was only around 8 signed up as of this past weekend. -

You're thinking about upgrading to Wordperfect. -
You should go to Universal Islands of Adventure and check out the Hulk and the Spiderman rides. They are both freakin' awesome.

if the world were as it should be the contestants would be working for their 'stardom' (as Aretha did) not riding the fame lottery... ______________________________________________ Damn fine point. As a musician though, we'll take it any way we can get it!

I'm apalled and disappointed that you have this opinion _____________________________________________ Temporary sympathy and "liking" are not interchangeable. You don't go from hating, to liking, to hating, all in the span of a few months. It's more like hating, with a short sympathy inspired respite, then back to the norm. At least that's how it appeared to me.

Hell, even Jerry Falwell was saying it. Maybe we should nuke Falwell?
-
"A lot of people liked us after 9/11" On the surface, sure. Deep down, I doubt it. There were people saying we deserved it right from the start. In Europe, the middle east, and everywhere else. This was long before Iraq. Arab countries have been teaching their kids to hate the West long before Bush came along, and they will continue when he's gone.

I'm pretty sure I just said that is a load of crap. _____________________________________________ Sorry, I guess I misunderstood your post.

I just think that this attitude that most Dems seem to have that if we "play nice" everyone will like us is a load of crap. ----------------------------------------------------------That is a load of crap. It's also a load of carp that most Dems think that. So, if we elect Kerry and rejoin the "community of nations" or whatever the happy phrase is, everyone will like us? I can't wait for the open armed reunion.
