  1. Oh boy, more "sustainable" stuff. I think I'll puke if I hear that word again. I'll try to avoid puking on the white paint.
  2. I'd be afraid, very afraid, to come to a place run by warmongering oil kingpins bent on destroying the world.
  3. I totally agree. After a paycheck or two, you'll never miss the extra few bucks, but you'll sure notice it down the road.
  4. I didn't watch. Even though I'm a GWB supporter, I just can't stand watching him give away the whole fucking store to get more votes (I'm assuming that's what he did...like I said I didn't watch).
  5. I'd HIGHLY recommend contributing at least what your employer will match. My boss (who RULES by the way), matches 50% all the way up to 15% of my income, so naturally I contribute the full 15%.
  6. "Bush's (Rove's, Cheney's. . . ) extreme right-wing agenda is anything but bipartisan. " That would include signing CFR, the extension of unemployment benefits, caving on vouchers, federalizing airport security, steel tariffs, the prescription drug debacle, talk of amnesty for illegals....yeah, that's pretty far right stuff.
  7. "But until we stop basing school funding on property taxes (as it is in the vast majority of cases), alot of kids (mostly black) are getting a very raw deal." That's why some of us favor vouchers - to get poor and minority kids OUT of the shitty schools. Oh wait, I forgot: education is not the paramount concern, it's not giving taxpayer money to anyone that claims to be religious, regardless of the task they have been contracted to perform.
  8. I just got mine in the mail Saturday: A-44508
  9. Tell 'em you died in a skydiving accident.
  10. "Who has it good in th USA. Who does the politicians serve? I'll tell you who: The big corporations and the rich people." Dude, you don't even live here, what makes you think you know anything about the USA? You must have been brainwashed by the European media. Either that or the cold weather up there has frozen your brain, because your statements are utterly ridiculous. I'm a regular middle class guy and I got it good in the USA, okay? And there's plenty more like me. No corporation rules me, I rule me. And guess what - I used to be poor, now I'm middle class, no thanks to government programs either. Hell, my mom was a fuckin' sharecropper when she was a kid. You need to wake up and stop your blind and unfounded hatred of a country that you obviously know very little about.

    Why?

"I love Bush and am a faithful supporter but this is BULLSHIT. This is the first thing I have disagreed with" Although I am a Bush supporter and intend to vote for him, he has done many things I have not been in agreement with. This, however, doesn't particularly bother me. Although I am not what one would normally consider "religious", I do respect what religion and it's inherent values have done for the country, from a historical perspective. I think we are better off with it than without it, overall. And, I don't think people or groups should be excluded solely due to their religious affiliation.
  12. And your avatar rocks, to boot.

    Why?

I'm still waiting. If it's that "respecting the establishment..." thing, that's a stretch.

"But giving tax dollars to religious organizations, that's unconstitutional. " Please show me where. It's not establishing a religion. Nothing like it.

    Why?

Why would that be my only viable option? Are they dismantling the hundreds of federal/state/local programs that do the same thing? I doubt it.

Oh, I forgot. The vast bloated federal government is totally devoid of pedophiles or other dangerous people. Thanks for reminding me that pedophiles exist in the religious community only. Now I can go back to thinking right.
  17. "We can however see what Bush has done and it certainly has not been to capture Osama." Too bad sugar Bill didn't do that when Sudan wanted to hand him over to us. Then it wouldn't even be an issue.
  18. "Just heard it on Fox" You watch Fox? You must be part of the vast right wing conspiracy! That explains your mindless extremist rants - you are obviously incapable of forming your own opinions and should never be taken seriously (unless of course you take up listening to NPR)
  19. I'm far better off. Of course, it doesn't have a damn thing to do with any politician. It has everything to do with the decisions I make on a daily basis. One of the best decisions I have ever made was to start taking care of my own problems instead of waiting for a benevolent big government program to come do it for me. Life's been pretty good since I decided that.

It's no worse than the same services being provided by career bureaucrats. He's just farming it out to people who might actually give a shit. Personally, I'm a godless atheist, but I don't really have a problem with this. Secularism is in itself a religion IMHO, so to me it's really not much different.
  21. In Reply To : we had a kid get shot at the taco bell in Akron OH when he refused service to a drunk who came back throught the drive throgh and shot the cashier..... hope that guy got his ass took in jail. twice. ----------------------------------------------------------- Was the perp a "law abiding citizen" prior to the shooting? ------------------ I think he was one of the "downtrodden", perhaps a "loser of life's lottery", and driven by an unfair society into a life of crime. We should therefore let him go, or at the very least, let me get a law degree while in prison so he can then sue the state.
  22. Nuke Texas! Oh, wait...never mind.
  23. What I've learned from the real estate transactions I've been involved in is this: trust no one but yourself. A great many of the people involved in this industry (realtors, escrow agents, inspectors, etc) are simply not competent (as in any industry). I would highly recommend the following: 1. Get the house inspected, and be there for the inspection. Follow the inspector around and make him explain everything to you. Look for rotted wood, evidence of water penetration (rotted siding along the foundation line, water stains on ceilings and walls), cracks in sheetrock/brickwork, etc. You cannot trust an inspector to find everything, and some of them are just plain stupid. 2. Read and UNDERSTAND the closing documents. In my last home sale, there was a mistake on the closing paperwork, which I brought to the attention of the escrow officer and my realtor in closing, but they assured me it was correct, so I went ahead and closed. I still wasn't confident so I went over everything with a fine toothed comb, and sure enough I was right. They fucked up the paperwork to the tune of $1200.00. Bottom line is be careful and learn all you can about the transaction. It's not fun even when everything goes right, and it plain sucks when there are surprises.
  24. I was terrified throughout AFF, but after about 10 jumps my fear subsided quite a bit, and now, after only 37 jumps, I feel nothing but excitement.
  25. You said CNN, right? In that case, you need to take a color pic while letting him drown, then write a story blaming his policies for the storm.
