I can't see how this pertains to my post, but I personally haven't changed my lifestyle one bit since Bush took office (other than that I make a lot more money now). I do live free as far as I'm concerned.

Can you tell me what the current administration has done to protect us? ______________________________________________ They have taken the fight to the terrorists, which is at least a start. The FBI and CIA can now share information, which helps also. I'm not saying they have solved the problem; in fact, many huge holes remain, particularly our unprotected borders. I just think that this attitude that most Dems seem to have that if we "play nice" everyone will like us is a load of crap. That and this belief that the UN can somehow solve these problems. OBL and his crowd will never stop trying to destroy the West and Israel until they themselves are destroyed, and that is my paramount concern. I would love to hear how your guy is going to solve the problem, if you have a moment.

That's why I can't understand why people who lean right would continue to support it. _______________________________________________ I'll tell you why I support it. I just don't think most leaders on the left understand or care to understand the seriousness of the threats to this country and to the West in general. I am against MUCH of what this administration has done (particularly domestic policy), but I just don't think the Democrats can offer anything other than blaming the president. Doing what Clinton did (lobbing a few cruise missiles in their general direction) in response to terrorist attacks on our soil only encourages them to do more. I'm not a huge Bush fan, but I just think Kerry is too much like Clinton to do any better.

So whats wrong with the Kyoto accord? _________________________________________ Well, it exempts many heavy polluting countries, it is based on what many in the scientific community consider junk science (or unreliable at best), it doesn't take into account many factors which can affect the temperature of the earth's surface/atmosphere, it costs tons of money to implement, the potential benefits are sketchy at best, etc. I'm no scientist, but I've read differing points of view on the subject, and to bet the whole enchilada on this thing seems pretty foolhardy.

Dude, you got some serious time on your hands. And, by the way, many of those people only represent a small segment of what you may consider the "right".
-
You make some good points. I think Americans can learn a lot from Europeans. And vice versa. I think Europeans (and other non-Americans) are more in tune to things like environmental protection, but to a fault in some cases (like Kyoto). As far as security issues, I believe that many outside the US have become complacent living under the military/security umbrella provided in large part by the US. This umbrella, paid for mostly by the US taxpayer, has allowed them to expend their welfare/socialist programs. The threats, however, have not gone away, but have become more organized in the wake of the cold war. It almost seems as if non-Americans think that the threats will go away if we just "act nice". There has been a religious war going on for centuries, and to simply blame US foreign policy does not adequately address the problem. Appeasement does not work. We must seriously face the threats against us. It's easy to hate the "big bully", but it's a messy world, and someday they may once again come to rely on us to save their asses. I hope not, but we must be ready for that. Even if they don't like us for it. That said, it would be damn nice if every American suburbanite didn't drive such a big ass SUV. They could also take some lessons in moderation - we're gettin' awful fat as a society.

Don't be showing off your wang in front of Zoe please. I'll have some major explaining to do.

"What do you think we should do about it?" Look at why they hate you, and deal with the cause as opposed to the symptoms. But that means revisiting some of your less public foreign policies, such as supporting unpleasant regimes, training and funding unstable freedom fighters, or providing military aid to governments with piss poor human rights records. Well, thats what I think anyways, I'm sure there is more that could be done, and I'm sure we are about to hear all about it....... _______________________________________________ Sure there's more. We could all convert to Islam.

Taking the context into consideration, his message (and its spelling) matters much less than GWB's _____________________________________________ But then GWB didn't start a thread solely to dis Skyrad, did he? No. It was the other way around. Skyrad started the thread with the sole intention of dissing Bush. He set himself up for the scrutiny.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Somebody had better stand behing $harpton and Je$$e Jack$on with a fire extinguisher - they're going to spontaneously combust when they hear/read this! Wait -- are you implying that somebody should try to put that fire out?? ---Jeffrey ______________________________________________ Hey, here's a hose....oh sorry, that's a can of gas.

I could start on you about your spelling of "construed", but it would be kind of childish, don't you think?

"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" aka Willy Wonka remake
meltdown replied to AggieDave's topic in The Bonfire
That's a tough one to do justice, but if anyone can pull it off it'll be Tim Burton and Johnny Depp. As for the oompa loompas, they may too politically incorrect. -
Dude, I would think you'll fall pretty fast nekkid. Please warn me so I can take myself off of that load. I wanna see you land in the corn field nekkid.

Why Do Christians make it so hard to be a Christian?
meltdown replied to Duckwater's topic in Speakers Corner
This can just as easily apply to far left environmentalist types ------------------------------------------------------------Why yes, as it can also apply to right-wingers who say that disagreeing in public or on dz.com with the President or the war is unpatriotic. Folks, you can now get back to the original jabs at narrow-mindedness -- I dislike narrowmindedness, so dissing it is always good, because I know! Wendy W. ________________________________________________ This thread already appeared to be aimed at "right wingers", that's why I pointed that out. But you are right, these people come from all over the political spectrum. They can all take a hike as far as I'm concerned. -
Go Bill! If more black leaders had the balls this guy does, maybe some problems would get solved. The blame game only takes you so far. Unfortunately, nobody but a "person of color" can say such a thing without instantly being dubbed a racist, facts be damned.

Why Do Christians make it so hard to be a Christian?
meltdown replied to Duckwater's topic in Speakers Corner
Its a pity theirs so many people that feel they have an absolute right to interpret and impose their idea of the will of God on others _______________________________________________ It is a pity. But don't just look in one direction. This can just as easily apply to far left environmentalist types. -
I have yet to see something that was represented to be a fact by Michael Moore disproven by any of you. ________________________________________________ Ask and ye shall receive. Moore Fabrication

You just blamed everybody, then said you wish everyone would quit trying to find someone to blame. I don't get it. I think we should blame George Bush. He seems to be responsible for everything that ails the world, why not add this to the pile?

If everyone that had a hummer in their office got fired, the unemployment rate would soar. A survey about 15 years ago reported that over 50% of white collar workers had sex in the office at least once. _______________________________________________ And out of those 50%, 99.9999% probably were not in charge of keeping the worlds only remaining superpower safe. By putting himself in a compromising position with a person he didn't even know... well, let's just say its a little more serious than screwing your secretary. And then there's the lying to the grand jury part, but I'm sure you know all about that.

Who said it wasn't relevant? I was just marveling at the amount of energy you expend in hating one guy. It's really quite amazing. But hey - it's a free country. More power to ya!
-
Damn, dude. You should find a way to make hating Bush a full time job. I don't think you ever miss a chance to bash the guy. It's like he's the fuckin' devil. I don't even despise Ted Kennedy that much. At least you're consistent though, gotta give you that.

"Bush sent US troops into Iraq under false pretenses. Sign on Harry Truman's desk: "The Buck Stops Here". " If I remember correctly, there was pretty uniform agreement about the existence of WMD in Iraq. The only real question was whether or not the UN was going to enforce their own resolution. They chose not to. If you're going to jump on the "false pretenses" bandwagon, make sure you include your buddies in the UN.

Have you ever considered that if the millatry backed off a bit the diplomats might be able to do their job alot quicker and the troops would be able to come home alot sooner? After the fighting comes the talking, instead of escalating into a war without end, why not cut to the chase and sort out the peace? _____________________________________________ Maybe we should take the Chamberlain "peace in our time" approach and just give up? The diplomats can surely get the job done. There's no need for war, ever. We just need to get together and sing Kumbayah. Oh wait, you need TWO willing parties to negotiate. Forgot about that.
