  1. I'd have to try her out to know for sure
  2. My main pin on my '97 Javelin comes open frequently when I'm sitflying. I've been using the rubber band fix for several months now, but after talking to the rigger at Sunpath I have decided to send it off to have the tab replaced with a bigger one (more like the ones on the newer Javs). I'm hoping that will fix the problem, otherwise I'll be shopping for a new rig.
  3. That's awesome. I love Thomas Dolby. I was just listening to The Golden Age of Wireless today. I sure hope he makes a stop in Austin.
  4. Hell yeah, it was totally kick ass! Thanks to SSM, and to Robert and Todd for a great job helping us wannabes out.
  5. I was looking at Sonar on the Cakewalk site - I just can't really tell from the descriptions what the difference is between the $149 version versus the $229 version. And they have a different thing called "Music Creator". I can't figure out if that does the same thing or something different.
  6. Anyone here know which Cakewalk (or other) product I should buy? I want to do mainly midi recording and editing, possibly live recording. Thanks!
  7. Oh brother, another one of these. *yawn*. Now I remember that this is why I rarely visit SC anymore.
  8. Being gay doesn’t deserve an award ________________________________________ In Hollywood it does Not that there's anything wrong with that
  9. We bought my Dad a tandem for his 70th B-day, 2-1/2 years ago. It was my first jump also (we were on the same load). It was awesome.
  10. MLK deserves a day in his honor. It is sad, though, that his message is all but lost on todays black leaders (the Jackson/Farrakhan crowd that is). They hold him up as some kind of god, and yet ignore much of what he espoused in order to further their own agendas.
  11. I've got a Javelin, and me and my sorry 350 jumps put the lines at the bottom. I took the Brian Germain canopy class and he showed us another way, I think it was lines to the back. He had a good reason for it, but I still do it the way I was taught. I've only had line twists twice in 350 jumps, so it seems to work. But like the previous poster said, you should probably check with the manufacturer.
  12. Because I am going to wait till I get 500 and go straight to D. _____________________________________________ Precisely.
  13. Is this the same gang of chicks that were out at SSM a few months ago doing tandems with a camera crew?
  14. At least the dirt out there can be soft and fluffy....well at least the top inch or 2. _______________________________________ I'll second that. Last year I managed a little/no flare landing in the desert in no wind with a dislocated shoulder (from a hanging skyvan exit) - didn't hurt a bit.
  15. Sounds like your shoulder may be subluxing, not dislocating. Definitely talk to a doctor. I dislocated my left shoulder a year ago hanging from a skyvan, believe me that was not a fun landing. It's fine now, but it took months of rigorous therapy to get it "normal" again. If your shoulder is unstable it may need to be fixed before you can jump safely, especially since it's your right.
  16. I saw the Steve Morse band many years ago in Austin, and Eric came up on stage and they traded solos - it was pretty amazing. He's an awesome player, but in my opinion his music is boring, uninspired and overproduced.
  17. You should search the subject here on the forums. I dislocated my shoulder about a year ago and found that it's a fairly common condition in the skydiving community. Mine has healed up fine (I dislocated it for the first time at age 41), but if yours is a chronic condition it could put you and others in a potentially hazardous situation (believe me, no flare landings are not fun!).
  18. Be careful with that running stuff. I get to jump with an ACL brace now because I thought I could "run it out".
  19. Yikes. I'll only be viewing the first two, thankfully. Unless things get out of hand at the big bash. I'd guess you've shaved every bit; seems like you were promoting hairlessness last time I saw you.
  20. So what's the hair situation now? Last time I saw you I almost didn't recognize you.
  21. Here's how I lost 40 lb, 5 lb per month for 8 months, and have kept if off for over 2 years: 1. Exercise (bike, walk, whatever), at least 2-3 times a week for 30 minutes, to start. Start slow and build up to longer, harder, more frequent workouts. Get in an extra one when you can. Also, work on building muscle with weights, that helps metabolism. 2. Cut out sweets/fats almost entirely for 2-3 months, and reduce portion sizes of everything else. Once you're on the right track, you can add in an occasional treat. When you start eating less regularly, you will find that you don't NEED to eat so much to feel good. 3. Understand that this is a new way of life, not a diet. Learn to actually enjoy NOT eating that candy bar or whatever indulgence you crave. Learn to enjoy your new smaller body. Go buy some new clothes to show it off. 4. Stay away from "fad" diets, or diets that don't allow you to eat certain foods. It's all about balance. It's not what you eat, but how much, that matters. 5. Weigh yourself regularly so you can monitor your progress. What I did was, everytime I lost 5 lb, my new goal would be the next 5 lb. Don't overwhelm yourself by focusing on your total weight loss goal, take it one step at a time. This worked for me, hope it helps!
  22. Dude, I've got 300 jumps, and I weigh 135 plus gear. I jump a 170. If I were you I'd seriously reconsider that canopy before you end up hurt or worse. Just my opinion.
  23. Throw it into the nearest body of water.
