  1. So should I start a "married only" thread so that us married people have equal opportunity . Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  2. Hi Deuce, I will be at Perris on Saturday and I'll be sure to say hi! Heck, I'll even give you a hug
  3. Wow, that's awesome! Lucky you
  4. Awwwwwww.....they're soooo cute
  5. Good for you girl!!! Just keep it up. Too many people get gym memberships and work out the first month then stop going. I go to the gym every day after work (YMCA - nothing fancy, but a good weight room, lots of classes, sauna and jacuzzi in the women's locker room). If you need any help to keep motivated just PM me. bungy jumping

There must be better terminology available. LOL. Yeah, I get what you're saying. Okay, so he felt the swinging up and down force of the bungee several times before deploying his chute. Better? Edited to add: gotta love someone who bounces a few times and still goes on with a skydive... Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller

    bungy jumping

I'm a little nervous about bungee jumping off a platform, bridge, etc., but a friend bungee jumped from a hot air balloon. He jumped, bounced a few times, then released the bungee cord and continued on with a skydive. I think that is how I'd want to bungee jump
  8. You bought a vette last year and are looking for a new car?? What's wrong with the Vette? I've been driving a vette for the last 10 years and can't imagine driving anything else. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  9. Be carefull!!! Although it could have been much worse . Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  10. Yikes girl!!! I cringe just thinking about what you've done. I have nothing against piercings, but could never do it myself since I am deathly afraid of needles (just getting my ears pierced was an ordeal). Hope you are out of pain soon and able to jump again

    My new job

Lucky you!!! I go to the gym every day and think how lucky the people that work at the gym are to get paid to work out. Have fun!! Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  12. You definitely weren't alone. One of our Excel camp coaches even sat out for awhile. The other coach that was jumping asked us if we were okay jumping in these wind conditions. My rigger even said to me "you're jumping again, in these conditions?" I used to stop jumping as soon as I saw a dust devil. Then I resigned myself to the fact that DD's, turbulence, thermals, etc. were a part of jumping in the desert and I just had to deal with it. I'm a very safety conscious skydiver, but I'm wondering if I'm getting a little complacent when it comes to wind conditions. I only get to jump once a week so try to get as many jumps as possible in that day. Maybe I'm compromising my safety without realizing it. Although one of the reasons I'm more comfortable jumping on windy, turbulent days is because when I took Scott Miller's canopy class a few months ago he showed us videos of people landing (unharmed) in turbulence and gave us some good advice "just keep flying your canopy making whatever adjustments are necessary and prepare for a PLF". Still, I'm wondering if maybe I shouldn't have been jumping in those conditions with my limited experience. But hell, I stood up all my landings thanks to the wind! 13. I took Clint Clawson's canopy course at Perris a year and a half ago when I had around 100 jumps. I got a lot out of the course, but at that time all I wanted was stand up landings, so I didn't really concentrate on the other things. A few months ago I took Scott Miller's course at Elsinore and really got a lot out of the course since I wasn't just concentrating on my landings, but on learning to fly my canopy as well. Both courses were very helpful. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  14. So what did you think about the winds at Elsinore yesterday? A lot of people were sitting out in the afternoon, but I didn't think it was that bad. I continued to jump and other than some bumpy areas and thermals it seemed okay to me, but then I was landing way out away from building and trees. 15. I'm sure the rest of the load loved you for setting landing direction... I still land in the student circle, where you can land in any direction and don't have to follow a pattern. So thankfully I didn't set the pattern for others . Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  16. Thanks everyone for the advice and encouragement. I am happy to say that I stood up all 5 of my landings yesterday
  17. I've been skydiving for over 2 years, 300+ skydives, 2 canopy classes and I still can't always stand up my landings! What is wrong with me??? Granted the winds at Perris can be challenging, but last weekend out of 6 jumps only 3 were good stand up landings. As for the other 3 - 1) I was first down and couldn't see well due to old contacs and dirty visor. Didn't realize I was doing a downwind landing until it was too late to change. 2) Flared and got pushed into a turn by winds on landing. 3) Flared and got picked up and dropped down by winds. Not making excuses for crappy landings cuz I should be able to stand up my landings regardless of conditions, but I can't. I'm getting really frustrated. I'm going to hire a canopy coach to work with me on landings. Just posting this to see if there are other landing challenged skydivers who can empathize with me. 18. I have an Oxgyn helmet and have never had a problem with the visor coming open during skydives, but have had it open several times while in the tunnel (Perris) when flying close to the net. Saturday, while in the tunnel my visor not only came open, but broke completely off. My helmet only has a couple hundred jumps and a couple hours in the tunnel, so it wasn't like it was an old helmet. Wondering if anyone else has had this problem, or what full face helmet you wear in the tunnel and don't have this problem. I love the fit of my Oxygn helmet but am thinking I may want to buy a second helmet for the tunnel since I fly the tunnel a couple times a month. I have an open face helmet which I could use, but I don't like the feeling of my cheeks flapping and I like the protection a full face helmet provides when flying with other people. Any sugggestions? A friend who had this same problem duct tapes her visor when in the tunnel. This may be an option, but buying a second helmet may be a better option. 19. I've never been to a Hardees. Don't know if we have them in SoCal. But I will be sure not to go to one based on your review. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  20. Did they get you laid??? No silly - I'm married!! Married people have sex too... at least I like to believe that So I've heard
  21. I am almost as addicted to the tunnel as I am to skydiving. My day of skydiving doesn't seem complete without some tunnel time. Just wish it wasn't so darn expensive. I need a new jumpsuit, but every time I save up the money I get a good rate on tunnel time, so it's tunnel time or new jumpsuit....tunnel time always wins
