  1. I actually stay away from the incident thread unless I know that there was an incident at the DZ when I was there and I want to find out how the people are doing. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  2. So I'm on a cruise ship - last day of a 15 day Panama Canal cruise. We bought a bunch of internet minutes and tonight is the last night we can use them or lose them. So please post or PM so that I can use my minutes (at 40 cents a minute I don't want to lose them) Thanks.
  3. Awww, sweetie that is soooo awesome!!! I'm so happy for you both!! Have fun
  4. Funny you should ask. I'm on 10 day of the 15 day cruise (right now somewhere between Costa Rica and Acapulco). After all my planning and preparation and excitment they cancelled Cabo due to "unexpected scheduling difficulties". So I carried my rig all this way with me, spent $100 on flotation gear, and now I won't get to jump in Cabo since the ship won't be stopping there now. I'm really bummed out, but I'm going to try to enjoy the rest of the trip. Going through the Panama Canal was pretty cool, but what I really was looking forward to was jumping in Cabo. Oh, and I've got bronchitis so I'm not feeling very well. So that's how it's going. Thanks for asking
  5. I'm on a 15 day cruise which was supposed to stop in Cabo. I've been planning on jumping in Cabo since we planned this trip and was really excited about it. Now the cruise ship has notified us that due to "unexpected scheduling difficulties" we won't be docking in Cabo. I am so disappointed. When I first heard this I was so depressed I just wanted to go home (we still have 6 days left), but I'm going to try to enjoy the rest of the cruise. We'll be in Acapulco on Tuesday, so maybe I can find a place to jump there. If you know of a DZ in Acapulco please let me know! Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  6. Is there a DZ in or near Acapulco. The only info I've found on Skydive Acapulco is from 2003. Does anyone know if the DZ is still in operation? Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller

    SUSHI

I LOVE sushi ! It's my absolute favorite food. I've gotta have it a couple times a week or start having withdrawals . I like everything, especially yellow tail, salmon, mackeral, sweet shrimp, uni. Luckily I had it for lunch yesterday or I would be craving it after reading your post. BTW, at Perris on Saturday I heard some people talking about bungi jumping into a pool and I thought of you and those pictures you posted
  8. Make that 3! That was so sweet of you to send out "good landing vibes" to me. And the amazing thing is that they actually worked . Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  9. Not sure what people's definition of a 'low-timer" is. I think different people have different definitions. And I think it changes. For instance, when I had like 50 jumps I thought someone with 300 jumps was really experienced. Now I have 300 jumps, but still consider myself a low-timer. I guess it's like age - when I was 18 thought 30 was really old, now someeone 30 is a youngster . I enjoy jumping with EVERYBODY! Sometimes I jump with people with new A licences and sometimes with people with 1000's of jumps. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  10. After reading the posts about accuracy being really important I was seriously reconsidering my plan to jump in Cabo. However, today 5 of 6 of my landings were good stand up landing right on target. I know with me skydiving is a mental thing, so think I just wanted this so much I had to make it happen. Now the only thing holding me back is floation gear. I went to Square One and said I wanted to purchase flotation gear and they looked at me like I was crazy and said "Evelyn, you jump in the desert, why would you need flotation gear?" When I explained I wanted it for Cabo they said well maybe we have some in a box somewhere and would look. I was on a call so said I'll check back later. When I came back later they said "no, we don't have any flotation gear". No problem, I'll go to plan B which is to borrow flotation gear from Jim Wallace cuz I know he has it. But when I went to his school it was locked up, everyone had left. So now I'm stuck. Won't jump without flotation gear, but won't have it to bring with me. Hopefully they will have it I can rent. Thanks to everyone for input/advice. And to all of my friends who were concerned about my safety. When I went to Square One to inquire about flotation devices the guy said "let me guess, you're Evelyn.?" I said "yeah, how did you know?" He said "well you talked about Cabo and I had someone call me to ask about your landings because you were going to jump in Cabo". It's so nice to have friends who are concerned about my safety. Thanks! But don't worry. I won't jump without perfect conditions and a flotation device! Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  11. It was great to see you when I arrived at Perris this morning and many times during the day, including in the plane. Hope you had a great time. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  12. When I get there I'm going to check it out, see how the winds are, watch people land, talk to people, and if I don't feel comfortable with conditions I won't jump. Also I'll see how my canopy coaching goes tomorrow. Since it will be hot in Perris there will probably be some variable winds to practice in . 13. I'm going to do canopy coaching tomorrow and that is one of the things I'm going to work on is accuracy. And that's a good idea to talk to Jim, so I'll do that too. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  14. Nah, when you get to be our age you've gotta save it for special occasions . There are only so many blue pills in a bottle . Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  15. I'll let ya know how it goes. I think it will be tons of fun. Even think my husband will enjoy it once he gets into it, even though he has a fear of heights. Hopefully he'll get over that. He's such a good sport to do this with me even though he's afraid of heights. I can't wait for this cruise. Think it's gonna be good for us being on our own, not bringing the kids this time. Hopefully we'll recindle the flame and have mad passionate sex every night . Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  16. I jump in the desert. I've never done a beach landing. But I am planning to jump at Cabo at the end of the month, and you land on the beach. I saw an aerial view and it was gorgeous, but it was all ocean with a little finger of land. I'm a little nervous. So can you give me some tips for beach landings. 17. This is the description from the shore tour info provided by the cruise line: "Originally developed by scientists to study the biodiversity found in the canopy of trees, the method involved rigging large trees with climbing gear, ladders, etc. By means of this gear giologists were able to study larger areas of the forrest. They also discovered it was a lot of fun. This program allows anyone to rise to the top of the trees and switch on the adrenaline, as you swish from one gigantic tree to another. The series of platforms are sometimes located over 100 feet high and up to 150 feet apart" Does this sound like fun or what? This is what we're doing when we are in Costa Rica (a stop on a 15 day Panama Canal cruise). They acutally offered this in Jamacia when we were there last year, but I got outvoted by my husband and daughter so we did a river raft thing instead. My husband was releived that Jamacia wasn't one of our ports this cruise cuz he knew I'd want to do it. He never imagined that they'd offer it in Costa Rica - hee hee. So has anyone ever done this? 18. I thought gnomes were a totally British thing. Didn't realize they'd migrated to the states until reading this post. Still, I haven't seen any in my neighborhood. Guess I have to be more observant
  19. I miss seeing you too! Let me know next time you're going out for drinks with Frenchy or whoever and I'll try to be there. Or we could always fly the tunnel together
  20. Seriously, do people really have those things? I've only seen it in movies. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  21. Yes she has and I am very proud of her. She is a wonderful person and we are very close. Wish I had this great of a relationship with my mom, we're close, but not as close as my daughter and I. Guess I learned from my mom and took it a step further
  22. No, I stopped having birthday dinners with my family when I turned 18. I'm not upset that she wants to hang out with friends, knew that would happen sooner or later. I'm just a little nostalgic tonight since this is the first birthday we haven't celebrated with her on her actual birthday. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  23. We could amend it to be a "married/in a relationship thread" Don't think it's necessary to have separate threads
  24. Okay, so she is 23. But we have celebrated every birthday with her as a family. We give the kids the option of where they want to go to dinner and go to dinner as a family, then they go off and do their own thing. This year she told us she wants to do the family dinner thing tomorrow, the day after her birthday. She wouldn't come out and say exactly why she wanted to have the family birthday dinner the next day, but I'm assuming it's cuz she wants to have dinner and celebrate with friends, but didn't want to come right out and say it thinking we'd be hurt. Guess I have to accept the fact that she's growing up and traditions don't always hold. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
