Sorry to hear about this. Best thing send him a card that you are thinking of him and thanking him for his service. Send him something that is special between you two: be it a stuffed teddy bear or just a photo. I would stay away from photos of his face etc for now until he gets over his wounds as the physical part is the eastest part to handle but the mental part is the hardest. My Mt1 has these pockets on the reserve bridle and if need think they will work as long as they are correctly stowed and ready for use. I would say take it slow and easy on any and all down sizing. If you do a search there is a down sizing chart somewhere in here for recommendations. Personally talk to one of the instructors your local DZ for there recommendations if ten jumps is enough to work on a smaller rig. I would say no, but I dont know your canopy flying ablities etc.... Both of this situations are true. one happened to a soldier around Fort Knox, KY and the other one was at Fort Bragg, NC in the late 80's early 90's. The first case she was a prostute that was picked up and the next morning the GI found a note on his mirror and she was long time gone. What about the prostute in Panama City, Panama who had AIDS I remember them posting her photo all around the place after "Just Cause" Some of my friends think they knew her in that special way. Me I just stayed away from those special action areas. The other one happened to a guy in my unit who was HIV but we did not know this until it came time for him to ETS as he had a realtionship with another soldier in another unit whom they shared an apartment with and she was going to Germany. Last time I heard this was some years back that she was still negative. It goes also to show that in Asia espially Thaiand/ Vietnam HIV is at a highest levels it can be due to the sex trade. It scares the piss out of me that they either know they are or not but they also look at the amount of money that can be made at sex instead of working in an office etc... Why are these drugs illegal? Becasue the government can not control them. So maybe if they could then it would be legal in controled situations. Beer/ wine/ etc: is somewhat controled you have to be 21 yrs old, can't buy it in some counties on certain days and certain hours of the week. If you want to do it just don't get behind the wheel. How many innocent people die because of this? Sure would hate to jump with someone thats been drinking alot the night before as Ive seen a few times someone tried that and was banned from the DZ. Is it worth it? Tobacco is a real hot issue in the USA when marketing has been really limited in this country. My sister started at 14 and to this day she wished she never started. This drug has been regulated to the point you have to be 18 and if you purchase it for a minor in Michigan besure to have a lawer on retainer. So what does these companies do Market it to third world contries., Sure way to get them when they are young keep them for there life. Both kenneth21441 and rwieder admit to never having smoked pot. Now I know your wrong as I had never admitted or stated that I had not smoked pot. In fact to get your story correct I tried it many years ago, before I even went into the military. But in the military you don't do drugs. Well if you do you are gone that is. And sure did not want to be going to Paname or some other down range conflict with someone on this or any other drugs covering my back on a hot DZ or LZ. So what do you think about Meth/ or heroin? You dont need to be an expert on this subject as I see it everyday here. A guy/ woman has a great job starts that crap and next thing you know they dont have a job and hes doing what ever it is to get high and she is out working the streets. Sucking something else to get the next hit off that pipe. Sad but true, across the nation from the smallest town to the big cities. I am just stating that if you do it then don't do it around me. THC stays in the blood stream for 90 days, not 30. I dont care if its 30 or 90 days since a pot head will not go even that 30 days with out having another one. Ive seen some that do it every day or weekend etc. So that month period already means they will get busted unless they were in jail already then. Here's a great one: making it hard for people to go to work since they cant drive to work. In this statement it is meant to be sharcasim. I knew one guy in the army who got a DWI and could not drive his truck off post or even on postto do what he wanted.. But that did not stop him... as he still drove... Then he got another DWI in Panama and was kicked out of the military. Do I feel sorry for his being stupid. No he made his bed and now he was laying in it. I know one thing for sure I will not lose my Rigger License to some stupid stuff.As far a my not wanting to drink, thats is my choice and it just took once driving after a beer from one end of my base to the other end to scare me straight. I dont know the details as what they will do carry a portable piss tester or if they think you are using and have you pee in the bottle or what. But before that I am sure that could not charge you with a DUI for this. I dont drink or use drugs. And with that I think the last time I was stopped was in Ohio back in 1989....So I dont know the whole story of the DUI stuff, etc.. Just putting out what was reported in the news for information.. What scares me is the amount of people they will charge when this takes effect.... Think about it. Just heard that they have or will have a new law in Michiagn. Where if you get stopped and tested and they find THC or other illegal drugs in your system that you will be charged with a DUI. As a reminder THC stays in the body for like 30 days. that sure will increase the need for a new race of lawyers and all. Plus alot more money in fines and all. Well after a few weeks of depression I think I have a new job the only bad thing is I have to go to this Michigan regulations course for three days then take the lic. exam. then once I pass that test I go to Chicago for 11 days all compnay paid. The issue is this all starts on July 14th. I finally signed up for unemployement as I thought that Id find a job that fast in my specialiyt areas but not. Thanks to the great state of Michigan and the job market moving to Mexico etc...... As ive been looking for the past five weeks i can say its hard out there... even in Management.. and I beleive that Ill get back dated unemployment since I was looking and all that... I will know in a few weeks on this one... I had my first telephone interview with the Target DC here, that would be a nice position but dont count on that one as the one that they are sending me to school for has already offered: its selling insurance to the baby boomers.... a large market along in this part of Michigan with room for growth based on performance and management opportunity. So for me this is a change, but when a guy spends over an hour and half on a job interview with you this must mean something... Best to things I learned from this whole deal is: marketing your skills by networking: and take the best offer you can. keep and update your resume for the target company, make chages to fit them. if they are not looking send it to them anyway they could be. expect to change job types if you need too. biggest one no job is safe in these days. I love Asia. Indonasia, Thailand, philippines, Vietnam are nice places where food is cheap and a great time happens at night when the cities light up. The day is also a great time but it just can be too hot at times. X-mas in the Philippines is cool that takes the US X-mas to the 1800's when it meant something except in a warm enviornment and alot of lights. The bad things is the trafic and congestion. Well its been five weeks now since my position as an operations supervisor went bye bye and still looking for that job. I thought with my experence and skills that id get hired as soon as I applied how wrong I am. Ive sent off some 15 resumes so far and not a real word from them. Maybe they are holding off until then end of June or what. Its getting to the point now that I am thinking about the Mcdonalds not eating there but working there.... I store mine away in dark plastic totes. of course unpack both of them and shake them out before storing them. I would also recomend removing any batteries etc.... if you have them. Place the main reserve on the bottom and container on top. Then store them in a dark room such as a closet, stay away from basements etc unless you dont have a mosture problem there. I need to total disagree with what Sheehan is doing. Her son died and he signed up for service so did thousands of us and some did not in the past. But in this all volunteer military we all make that choice and anyone in the military that goes off to desert is a scum bag that should take a nice long visit to Kanasas. I served my country and those that had decided to join then decide to spend the rest of there time is another place is worthless. Hello all, I recently received a T-10 reserve and a MC1. For jumping. When I went to go a pack the cheast reserve I noted these pip pins (l&R Line release) (PN: 500 FAA-PMA) attached from the connector links to gore's 23 / 24 and 1 / 2. It is some sort of disconnector for these lines but the question I have is why? and what is the use for this? Does any one know? As all the T10 reserves that I've packed where in the Army and did not have these. Any help would be appricated.
