  1. The problem that I have is if someone uses my name it means exactly when was this parachute last inspected and repacked. In that this could take it past the 120 day inspection and if and when this person is caught my work will be further looked at. I dont want and need the stress from this. When I know that its done the right way the first time. If possible and if it could be proven I'd like to see some real action taken against that person....... Remember the law. For myself I keep my seal press under lock and key next to my firearms. That is how important I treat this. In effect for now I would not pack for them and even would let alot of others know. Since I know who's and when I packed there rig for them..... Just my two cents in this subject. thanks, Kenneth Potter FAA Senior Parachute Rigger Tactical Delivery Instructor (Jeddah, KSA) FFL Gunsmith
  2. We just jumped with Bob this afternoon in Marshall, Michigan. It was a pretty good jump except Bob was not looking to hot, I hated seeing Bob down from his usual active self. Hope he is feeling better soon...... But then again it could have been the Michigan heat wave after a few weeks of being in the coolness. 3. Well im glad it was nothing big that could cause a malfunction .... we all need to make it a point that we do not leave things in the rigs we pack.... years ago we used to pack flour in the lower lateral band of rigs that cherry jumpers were jumping but that was the old days.......... be safe..../ Kenneth Potter FAA Senior Parachute Rigger Tactical Delivery Instructor (Jeddah, KSA) FFL Gunsmith
  4. This all depends on how well it was taken care of and if it still meets the specs from the manufacture. Ive seen some canopies as old as 20 years still in use and some as old as 15 years that cant be used. But also take into accountthat nylon does degrade with time. Best bet to have it inspected by the manufacture or a rigger to make sure the canopy is within the limits. 5. This is what we had doen was started our own catalog business where we sell products through our web site, in person, flea markets and by mailing out catalogs. While In the start up phase it is not alot of money but every penny made is better then none. No its more then that. But the whole point is in the start until you get a name going and a customer base that every penny is just that. If you need any further assistance please email me and I would be more then happy to assist you on this area or any questions that you may have etc... thanks, Ken.. 6. I am sorry for the loss. I am sure this is a minder to us all to also make sure that we have our names and contact number so if someone does find it that they could reach us. I of course have a modifed helmet with a recoverey chute to take my down alot slower. But of course I had to make and test it myself. Never had to actualy use it but in test drops the parachute deployed and brought the helmet down safe with no damages except a few marks on the side. For those who may ask its a sixty inch parachute packed away inside the top of my helmet with the apex secured with some cotton thread. that when it comes off the thread acts liek a static line and brings the canopy out of the helmet the risers are just ties near the top out of the way......... Not bad but hope that it pays for itself one day.. Just my two pesos here,,,,, thansk Ken.
  7. Had this one while I was at Bragg. She was also in the military but in another unit. Well as it goes she says that was good and I comment what do you want a medal..... Next thing I know shes pointing my pistol at me.... Was able to talk it out of her hand..lets just say we did not go through this again..... Hopefully hse did not make a career out of the military... 8. The question I must first ask: is did this problem start after he released/ or let in the left break line?? If yes then this could be the problem as you dont realize how much a slight change in the rear input has until you have this problem you are facing. Suggest that you attempt to measure the lines when you are packing as they should be basically side by side. Have a rigger assist you if you need help. The best methiod of course is to jump the rig and see how much of the left line you need to pull down to get it to fly true. of course I would suggest pulling a little higher to give you time to check for this and for everyone elses safety, etc.... Then if you can remember or mark the spot and on the ground fit the length etc... then repeat if needed. Hope this assist you Kenneth Potter FAA Senior Parachute Rigger Tactical Delivery Instructor (Jeddah, KSA) FFL Gunsmith
  9. After many years and many more jumps. I finally decided to go for the B lic test and of course passed it..
  10. Try American Safety Flite Systems 1311 Grand Central Av Glendale, CA the number I have is: 818-240-1080 fax: 818-241-5296 Hope this helps... Kenneth Potter FAA Senior Parachute Rigger Tactical Delivery Instructor (Jeddah, KSA) FFL Gunsmith
  11. Actually the Army uses the T10C that has a larger lower lateral band thanks to an inlargement of the Pocket Opening Band (POB) that there are 15 of on the T-10. this meaning that the parachute can handle more weight etc... We tested the CQ rig some years ago at 350 feet. Count to 4 and be ready to land.... So as long as I am on this subject thank god for the riggers doing a great job.......... 12. I just make my own custom suit..... cost less then 30 dollars in material and a few hours... and ive got a suit custom made with pockets and all... just my two cents here... Kenneth Potter FAA Senior Parachute Rigger Tactical Delivery Instructor (Jeddah, KSA) FFL Gunsmith
  13. To me this not only makes your instructor a low life in that he used his LITTLE head instead of his Big head to get you certified. It sort of violates some ethics that I am sure you done have with out some legs being spread........ Sure glad I dont know you...... As you can just be called........ore... Just my two cents on this subject... Kenneth Potter FAA Senior Parachute Rigger Tactical Delivery Instructor (Jeddah, KSA) FFL Gunsmith
  14. So what you are saying that your instructor used his little head, instead of his biig head... Including the ethics of this...... So what does that make you out to be>>>>> No response needed as I and others know.....ore Kenneth Potter FAA Senior Parachute Rigger Tactical Delivery Instructor (Jeddah, KSA) FFL Gunsmith
  15. I can thank the GB club at good old Bragg. Along with my old unit for there support of aircraft. You just cant jump out of UH-60's/ UH1's and of course those C-5's and 130's. Now I am stuck with the 182's and otters. But do miss the real birds. As far as the military rigs being bad, I must disagree since these things are well built, somehat overbuilt...... but what do I know I not only pack them I own one as well.... Just my two cents,. Kenneth Potter FAA Senior Parachute Rigger Tactical Delivery Instructor (Jeddah, KSA) FFL Gunsmith
  16. Oh that was so good!! I said what do you want a medal? I guess she did not like that since we were both in the military. Kenneth Potter FAA Senior Parachute Rigger Tactical Delivery Instructor (Jeddah, KSA) FFL Gunsmith
  17. Made my own special suti for under 25 dollars and a weeks spare time. It really helps in slowing my speed down but it looks liek a bat wing..hahahaha... But then again I am a rigger so that helps I guess. Kenneth Potter FAA Senior Parachute Rigger Tactical Delivery Instructor (Jeddah, KSA) FFL Gunsmith
  18. Hello, this sounds like a MC4 set up. It should fly just as well as if not better then the Mt1 series. First get your lic. if you have not already done so then once that is done try to get a few jumps on it. I found that the Mt1 requires alot of input (as far as arm strength) to get it to move unlike my Manta but I guess its like a Tandem rig...HAHAHA. As as far as getting you on the ground and where you want to go, it cant be bet. But these rigs are overbuilt for sport jumping.... Has this rig been inspected by a FAA rigger? Do you have or will you place an AAD in this rig? I personally do not know why they placed the holes near the pilot chute attaching points unless it was for another purpose later on through its life or just to be able to tell the differences between a Mt1 or a MC4. I have both the Mti and MC4. Both pack the same and fly that way also except the risers on the MC4 are a bit longer, meaning more span. Hope that this helps you. 19. 400 plus repacks with 2 saves: one being myself and the other at Bragg in 91 when some one got low into someones airspace when he was deploying. Kenneth Potter FAA Senior Parachute Rigger Tactical Delivery Instructor (Jeddah, KSA) FFL Gunsmith
  20. Sounds like a MC-4/ 5 series canopy since the MT1-1xx did not have the reefing system near the pilot chute attaching points. Is the container Gray or is it green?? Some where even made in Black... Kenneth Potter FAA Senior Parachute Rigger Tactical Delivery Instructor (Jeddah, KSA) FFL Gunsmith
  21. I was a Parachute Rigger with the US Army. In fact when it was a real MOS at 43E.... the E stands for Everything............ I must say that I loved the job. I can say this due to the fact that Ive always kept things higher standards.... Plus you are one of few MOSes that kept airborne status/ pay.... Rigger school sucked at ft Lee, VA. but after it all the red hat has alot of respect on the airborne base such as bragg, Having worked in personal packing where we would pack an average of 25 t-10 / MC1 series parachute to working with the 100 ft G-11's: and being in charge of the engineers who would pack them to the actually rigging a D-5 or M551 and watching the load come in with a all ok was great. I did not like Maintance that much but still it was a chance to expand my offerings to Uncle Sam... And halp me for getting my Masters Lic. Or the guy who thanks you for the great pack job you did ... Oh the life. Riggers hold alot near and dear and if you hold someone elses life dear to you then this could be the job. As far as getting into packing ram air class that is usually reserved for special ops or when you go to BNOC as a NCO.;;; Best of all I loved the travels to all over the world to cover airborne ops: be it personal or just one cargo drop. Who could aks for more........ Just my two cents... If you want further information just contact me......And Ill try to get you some asnswers.. Thanks, Ken.. 22. No one ever said that she was the smartest person on Earth. What can you expect from someone who gets amrried to just say it never happened......?? DDDAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!! Kenneth Potter FAA Senior Parachute Rigger Tactical Delivery Instructor (Jeddah, KSA) FFL Gunsmith
  23. Sure if I forgot to pack the main. If you forget to cock the PC you still have time to either repack it or take that big chance of using the reserve. Kenneth Potter FAA Senior Parachute Rigger Tactical Delivery Instructor (Jeddah, KSA) FFL Gunsmith
