The major issue that I couild and/ or would see is that this may cause a bag lock if they are not able to come out easy. The best advice that I could say to start is try it then unstow the lines by pulling them off like in a actual skydive. If the stows come out easy with about 14 lbs of tension you should be ok but if they off harder and/ or twist you can and probly will run into problems if not ow some day. Why not try knoting the actual retainer band to the correct bite size that you need and then just single stow them. I would not recommend triple wrapping loacking stows and would keep a look out for what we call line dump where stows come out before the next stow, this is just a problem waiting to happen. Hope this assist you and be safe. Always check with a rigger/ instrutor if you are not sure..... Kenneth Potter FAA Senior Parachute Rigger Tactical Delivery Instructor (Jeddah, KSA) FFL Gunsmith

Fifty dollars for a repack. That is cheaper then what I charge. But then again I am only interested in doing my own rigs anymore. As far as someone signing my name ill put an axe on that and would not / could not do their work for them too much of a liabiltiy like being married...hahahha Kenneth Potter FAA Senior Parachute Rigger Tactical Delivery Instructor (Jeddah, KSA) FFL Gunsmith

I personally design and make my own suit. Ive got at least three that I use for RW, to doing photography. Im now working on a wing suit for slowing my fall ratio to that of the lightest Tandem.... See your rigger who might beable to make a custom suit for you to your liking.. Until then., Kenneth Potter FAA Senior Parachute Rigger Tactical Delivery Instructor (Jeddah, KSA) FFL Gunsmith

Yes, that is true but in general terms of the Mt1-1xx series and the MC-4 series they are inchanged. Back in the days when the HALO main course was at Bragg. You would see at least one to two reserve rides a course, this in turn placed a burden on the SWC riggers who had a problem with replacing all the reserves with new ones so the requirements were raised to five activations. I can tell you that having just one actavation on one of these big boys made me not want to have another one, unless I had to. Until the materail had time to open up some making the opening a little better. This in turn allowed for a contious resupply of both mains and reserves in the system. Where a worn out main could be replaced with a little bit opened reserve. My personal MT1 has about 50 jumps on the main and zero activations. Not a bad deal but I see love my Vector three with the skyhook though. Just my two cents here....... Kenneth Potter FAA Senior Parachute Rigger Tactical Delivery Instructor (Jeddah, KSA) FFL Gunsmith

You have the rest of your life. Remember is not the impact that can kill you but the suddden stop. I recommend that you talk to your instructors and to play it safe anything at or above 3500 feet to be safe until you get at least 50 jumps on it. Our US Military Mt1/ MC series was designed to have a reserve interchanged into a main if needed. That is that once the reserve had like five activations that reserve became a main canopy. Each system had a bridle attaching point and were the same size that way if the jumper had a problem that had to involve a cutaway then the reserve could be used and the mission could still be done. Say a 20,000 feet HAHO. etc.. Kenneth Potter FAA Senior Parachute Rigger Tactical Delivery Instructor (Jeddah, KSA) FFL Gunsmith

Its is to no wonder why after so many years of such activity that the US has finally acted. When we can trace this all back to before the 1983 act on the US Marines in Beriut. What did the US do? New York: 1995> what did the US do? Africa: August 1999> What did the US do? Yemen: October 2000> what did the US do? Added to this the fact that the Taliban took over in early 1995> what if anything did the US do? Sure the US still kept its boarders opened with the Saudi Government: Who in fact are still funding these family members today. Remember 14 of these 19 islamic idiots where Saudias. That surly must open eyes. But not. Look at Prince Bandar the US embassator to the US: His wife had sent ten thousand dollars to the main man of September 11th. And blood in the tribe is better then friendship in this land. Is that nowt why the first King of Arabia had like eighty something off spring and today some three thousand of these blood suckers still living high off the fat that comes in the name of oil. If we are to really act we as a nation should take to not letting those in who are unwanted in. But no that is not our way and we will surly pay for that again. When our own government can not even say how many cells are on the ground waiting to act. The basics of the Al-Quaeda set up comes from our own manuals and from the Japan Ninja's trainign outlines. If we want to stop them we need to become them and act on them with even more force and keep them down. Just my two cents on this hot and hit home issue. Skydivers Should Oppose ADIZ
kenneth21441 replied to kallend's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Still cant understand all of this after over four years. Some time ago before 9-11-2001 I used to travel in the US and saw all these signs about unsafe airports in other nations. When in the US you could do what you wanted: that was our own weakness and they took to it like white on rice. But in other countires they used to go through my bags and also a basic interagation (like where I am from, job etc....) Now for the FAA to further allow restrictions is plan nuts. They need to look into what we have in this country already and take care of that issue along with a better check of cargo/ freight ac. Just my two cents here. thanks Kenneth Potter FAA Senior Parachute Rigger Tactical Delivery Instructor (Jeddah, KSA) FFL Gunsmith -
T-10 (ask an old person what this is)
kenneth21441 replied to skyjump11's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
In the Army we called them crash 10's. Where you basically crashed into the ground. In fact Ive got over 200 jumps on these crash 10's and a about a 100 or so on the MC1 series. I guess that is why my knees are shot. The T-10 is a well tested and engineered canopy with very few malfunction ratios. In fact when the anti-inversion net was added in the mid 70's this further reduced the maluction rates. You should be able to find some cheap demilled canopies on ebay and/ or near a major airborne base off base pawn rip off. Best of luck, thanks, Kenneth Potter FAA Senior Parachute Rigger Tactical Delivery Instructor (Jeddah, KSA) FFL Gunsmith -
For me the best way to fight these evil doers is take a 747 with a whole plan load of those huckers and fly it straight into Mecca: about 50 miles from the port city of Jeddah. Screw it just load it past the manufactures load average and do the deed. That is a way for them to see those virgins without taking someone with real protentail with them. I have one MT1/xx that I jump alot along with my other rig. I would like to know if a senior rigger can modify the rip cord to a bottom of container (BOC)? And if Yes, what size should the bridle and pilot chute be? Along with additional information would be helful here. It would really be hard to contact the manufacture on this as they have said that this can not be done. Any help would be gratefull. thanks, Ken.. I would say do not jump the canopy, then you dont have to worry about ware in the cross port area. If this is not an a chose then I would say leave it alone and just inspect the cross ports every few months and/ or so many jumps. This ware is a point in showing how many jumps a canoly has, just like an odometer on the car. Just my two cents here, Thanks, Ken. What is the most common cause for malfunctions?
kenneth21441 replied to jasonRose's topic in Safety and Training
I went over 160 before my first cut. Maybe they were talking about 160 jumps. hahaha. Kenneth Potter FAA Senior Parachute Rigger Tactical Delivery Instructor (Jeddah, KSA) FFL Gunsmith -
Since the canopy is usually packed up for four months. I usually give it at least 12 hours to hang and air out. Just to cover my butt. In a crunch i can usually go about a few hours when I have a fan airing it out. From then the inspection takes about an hour and repacking of the reserve is about another hour to an hour and half. Here a photo taken of myself and another Rigger in Hondo in 1991. I am on the right. Having spent like four months down there it offered me alot of chances to work on my tan, jumping and some good old education thanks to the military. During my college days. Hahaha. The instructor knew that I was a skydiver and he tried to show me some formula for calculationn of free fall of where the jumper is at with so many seconds after exit. Example at 2 sec you would be so many feet from the A/c etc.. I never got it and could care less as I know the first 10 is 1000 feet and after that its all about that. Reminds me of the Parapoint and Oroion projects that I had worked on in the Army. Where you could drop a bundle out and with the parapoint control it under canopy or it could land with the receiver placed on the ground (it could also be controled on the ground as well). With the oroion: you just put in the GPS grid and the unit planned its course of action. Only if it could make it.The unit had these smal wind meters to determine wind speed and direction. A really cool project in its day. Kenneth Potter FAA Senior Parachute Rigger Tactical Delivery Instructor (Jeddah, KSA) FFL Gunsmith

Mt1-xx Container w/ MC-4 Canopy..Question
kenneth21441 replied to kenneth21441's topic in Gear and Rigging
I have recently come across a complete MT1 with a main and reserve. As I also have a MC-4 canopy complete (Canopy/ susp lines/ risers) minus the d-bad and PC. And was wondering if anyone knows if I could use the MC-4 canopy for a back up main in the MT1..?? From the looks of it I can and should be able to but just wanted to make sure for my own. All canpoies and Harness systems are in good working order. And the canopies are within specs. Thank you, Ken Kenneth Potter FAA Senior Parachute Rigger Tactical Delivery Instructor (Jeddah, KSA) FFL Gunsmith -
Who Are Your Skydiving Heroes/Mentors?
kenneth21441 replied to skykittykat's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Heros: Bob Sinclair, for what he has done and the stories that he has to tell about what he has done. All around a great guy. Mentors: Peat Moorcon, my instructor those many years ago at Bragg. and Jay Stokes, for his relaxed instruction. I must add him as one of my heros for the fact that he had broken several records that not only show that anything is possible. Just my two cents here. Kenneth Potter FAA Senior Parachute Rigger Tactical Delivery Instructor (Jeddah, KSA) FFL Gunsmith -
One reserve ride with over six hundred jumps. Happened when two center line broken (both A and B) permitted canopy to close in on each other. After pumping toggles canopy reinflated and then deflated again. So I did not want to chance it with getting any lower, so I cut away. Unknown why this happened to start with. Just my two cents here, Kenneth Potter FAA Senior Parachute Rigger Tactical Delivery Instructor (Jeddah, KSA) FFL Gunsmith
