  1. Nice Lisa! So it will still be the Rock Shop!
  2. Girlie? Are you felling sensitive today? did you take insult at my remark? I would enjoy seeing a contest between the Kramers - just can't get away from Sebastian during the holidays. Maybe you two should take a DZ tour day or two and hit all the DZ's on the strip - come across to Lake Wales, then Sebastian, up to Titusville and then DeLand on the way back over.
  3. Since Kramer is the character on Seinfeld aren't you both imposters?
  4. Ok, I'm too lazy to read through the whole thread especially saying it's 'one of those threads'. Politics, theories, philosophies... they get so ugly. My .02¢ is that a journalist can travel with whomever they want in the name of journalism BUT stop the whining and crying when they get killed. It isn't a game of tag. There are no time-outs. No special immunity because you have a press badge. Don't go setting up a newsroom in a building with the terrorists (or us for this matter) and then get all outraged when the other guys bomb your room. If you want to play right in the middle of the fire then you take your chances just like anyone else. So by all means go run around with whomever you want to quote and film. Just be prepared to die alongside them if it comes to that.
  5. hey, that was me and it was straight tequila not a margarita.
  6. Well, if you came back to Sebastian some of us would jump with you but....
  7. I'm pretty happy with my Dell. Would love to go back to Macs but it's so much harder to pirate software....
  8. don't drive. buy a ticket and go west or north for real snow. Not some barely able to keep a few trails open southern mountain. Skiing is faster to learn harder to master - snowboarding is harder to learn in the begining but easier to get better quicker - great grammar but you get the picture. They are both fun! Both expensive but hey, you skydive - you know about expensive hobbies.
  9. I believe they were both 90's, I think... it all blurrs together now.
  10. It was a very nice shirt and everyone agreed that it was filled out very nicely too, I believe!
  11. If you are jumping at a USPA DZ then you do need to have membership in effect to jump (especially as a student!) Everyone has given you good advice. If the DZ wont take cash from you and bill their card, then the sooner you send it off the quicker you'll be a member. If you just can't wait then get the temporary in the meantime.
  12. In actuality the nearest DZ is DeLand. SoBe is about as close to daytona as it is to SouthBeach. The next nearest would be Titusville but of course, if you want the prettiest views you'll have to come visit us in Sebastian.
  13. I've been busy doing payroll this morning and haven't had the chance to jump yet. But I'm almost done (hmm... maybe I should get off dz.com and finish) and then I'll go try to top it. (You actually would have been proud of me yesterday - my consistency is getting... well, more consistent)
  14. you weren't wearing the shirt you wore to the Bytch Boogie were you?
  15. that's a different story. Breasts are very malleable. Yes, the strap will move up and or down over them regardless of where it may have started and loosening a fraction of an inch isn't a big deal. I have seen a chest strap with a 'catch' ( a very old one) that no longer works properly. We tested it on the ground and found that the strap would pull through fairly easily. One hard unexpected opening and it could have been very ugly.
  16. Way too many of them to mention - most of them don't post here either.
  17. how was your "landing". did you slide it out on your ass or maybe tumble a little bit?
  18. what he said only I'm happy with my Javelin. If yours loosens up, you need to do something about that. It isn't supposed to and it isn't safe.
  19. Yes, Pete and Anne have moved to DeLand. Skydive U isn't on location any longer so.... XL is no longer here. Of course, XL itself will be going through some changes since one of the members is moving on. Steve Hamilton LO's on weekends or has been.
  20. It depends on how badly I want to jump and if it is steady or gusty. If it's high and steady I don't really care how high the winds are but I don't enjoy the jump as much because you can forget about swooping. If it's high and gusty, I'll usually not bother unless I really, really want to jump (like this past week). I've jumped in very high, gusty winds and am obviously here to tell about it - but it's a crap shoot. You can be the most skilled canopy pilot in the world but if you catch some crazy nasty turbulance that collapses your canopy at twenty feet - good luck. If you aren't feeling comfortable, don't jump in it. It doesn't matter if other people are or not. Use your own head and only jump when you are comfortable.
  21. She's very pregnant, Denise! No jumping for her for awhile.
  22. Hey, but that would mean I'm out. Did you notice we are both Wendy W's???
  23. HEY!! It isn't that frightening, no one twisted his arm. We just made sure the tequila was available
  24. Now about 8 minutes but a couple of years ago I lived in Vermont and drove 5 hours on every day off to skydive at CrossKeys. Fortunately I had two days in a row off so I had a little rest time inbetween. And yes, I know that I drove right by the ranch and a couple other Dz's to get there, but it was worth it.
  25. yeah, tracking is certainly a difficult thing to work on in the tunnel, since by the time you get into position you'd be plastered up against the wall. You can do some nice sliding back and forth. Teach yourself some real quick start and stops. Perfecting tracking kind of requires the open sky.
