  1. I think they all just want company out there in the desert. I've been told by everyone that I know that has lived there or does live there that while they would love to have more company, and Eloy is kick-ass, that unless you love the desert - don't do it!! They say live somewhere nice and come play with us - unfortunately, my busy season runs the same as Eloy so when they are having their best events I'm stuck here and then when I have time to travel - it's their off season. But that just means I get to meet everyone in neutral territory. Florida has world-class skydiving as well. You can find that in California, AZ, and FL at anytime. Besides, everyone else is just a world-class skydiver in training.
  2. Yes indeedy, that's what they are doing here right now. I'm sitting here watching the flags whip around right now. I think it will still be pretty windy tomorrow but the early forcast is much better for Saturday. But it is warm and the sky is beautiful and what an awesome crosscountry we could do. I'll do a cross country if it's this windy tomorrow if anyone is up for it. We can get out over the ocean and fly on back to the dz. (Just don't forget that you do still have to land the canopy when you get back).
  3. I have to agree with you on that one. She's in the "WOW" stage and it's hard for anyone to compete with that. My husband (ex-husband) is the one who dragged me skydiving for the first time much against my will. I instantly fell in love with it and he thought it was just ok. It certainly didn't help our relationship but it wasn't the only factor nor even the main factor in our split. It just made it a much easier transition for me. Relationships are not easy but I would have thought everyone realized that. Are you just looking for public approval and moral support to dump your SO? Is it that he isn't supportive or have you started to treat him differently because he's lost his 'cool' factor since he isn't jumping. You're on a dz and you're a girl, that alone means you are getting lots of attention (and probably about 5 or 6 out of 10 times means you've got some sort of infatuation with your AFF instructors or some other skydiver on the dz) - the whuffo boyfriend at home suddenly doesn't seem so appealing anymore - you start to treat him differently, he starts to hate your going to the dz and skydiving and feels threatened by it. Eventually, he'll come out with the skydive or me choice unless he's really smart and realizes that even if you wanted to choose him you couldn't when he puts it that way. So if you're asking for advice - why are you with him? why were you with him? what has changed other than skydiving? if it's just skydiving you can work it out. if it's more than that then figure it out and make a choice.
  4. BE WARNED - I am well known for my biting tendencies and you are going to be in the Sebastian area.
  5. Ok, then can I take the complaint just a little further and say that they are all kind of annoying? There are some pretty good ones but... maybe there should be a place to jot down your coolest quotes but not have them plastered all over every post. I'm just grumpy 'cause it's ridiculously windy .

    Free Cat

Akitas are always beautiful. I'm on my second and even got my parents hooked on them. But how did this thread become about puppies and akitas wasn't it about dead cats?
  7. Shoot straight across 60. If you see the turn for it take a left onto 512 - it only turns left off of 60. It's a little road that sneaks up on you sometime after you pass through Yeehaw junction. If you get on 512 stay on it - you'll go through the lovely town of Fellsmere (sarcasm) and then cross under 95 go about another 3.5 miles after that and you'll come to an intersection with Roseland Road. Take a left and about 3 miles you'll see the sign for Sebastian Municipal Airport turn in there and park in Skydiver Parking. IF you miss the turn for 512 just stay on 60 until you intersect with 95 - jump on 95 N for about 10 miles to the next exit (156). Go right off the exit (this is 512) and then you can follow the previous directions.
  8. I would agree with Florida but have you lived near Lake Wales? I lived at the dz years ago - Lake Wales the dz is great - Lake Wales as a place to live is not. Go to one coast or the other. Tampa area - you've got Z-hills. Daytona area - you have a quick ride to Deland. Sebastian - you have Sebastian or Miami you've got homestead. Or if you like the city move to Orlando and you can drive to any of them including Lake Wales in a relatively short time.

    Free Cat

It is funny (in a sick way) but for the person who owned that cat - it would be really traumatic. Especially if it was some little kids cat. Hopefully, they only put the sign up long enough to take a picture and were kind enough to take it back down.
  10. I have no idea what you are talking about....
  11. Carry on. I always carry on. Never get hassled and the uspa now recommends that you carry it on.
  12. In answer to all your questions... Ok, unfortunately, the otter and skyvan come in the weekend after the bytch boogie. So we will still be jumping the caravan. I even tried to get a second caravan but all of our plane providers planes were promised out already. Credit cards - yes, checks - No, especially from you. Official answer to the beer question would, of course, be that you have to buy from "the guy". Unofficial answer can not be posted so that I wont get spanked by those who lurk and read here. No, $$ necessary for LO's here unless you love them so much that you feel the need to tip them. If you want to give me an official power of attorney form and all your credit cards - I'd be more than happy to fill out your waivers, take over your finances, etc., etc. Why would you want to even remember the word mnemonic? Oh sorry, that wasn't actually one of your questions, was it?
  13. No way! If you are sneaky enough and smart enough to get away without getting pied then they can't get you later. I've always managed to slip away without being pied. However, I manage to put on some of the most amazing pieings(?) ever! I plan on being pie free forever!
  14. I would have looked but the link didn't work
  15. No, no, no!! There will be no one out sick!
  16. Is that a boston creme or a new york creme - maybe he should just get both just to make sure
  17. Duncan donuts - glazed only - or munchkins, no coffee - pepsi - caffeine free preferably. What do you want, Lisa? I think he's taking orders...
  18. Darn, my bad!! I forgot the bytch boogie is next weekend not this weekend. Yes, 8am but don't expect a smile until at least 9!! Who actually looks at the calandar? Actually, we are protesting the 8 am weekday opening time. It's fine for weekends but no one rolls onto the dz before 9 unless they are camping and then they still don't manifest until they have their breakfast.
  19. 9 AM - BACK OFF!!! Why do you want me to have to get up early - I'm not an early morning person.
  20. Why wont some of these threads just die a natural death?
  21. I avoided this thread and the other one just like it all day and as I read through it I thought to myself - yes, that is why I didn't bother with it earlier - but then I came across your comments. Perfect - unfortunately, though, they caused me to needlessly PW and once again bump a worthless thread to the top. DAMN!! Why did I do that!
  22. I personally, think you need a third thread started for it! Are you guys all hovering over the same computer in the shop still??
  23. Evidently someone thought that an entire boogie for Lisa wasn't enough and that she needed at least two threads devoted to her boogie!
