  1. I have seen better. A hundred jump wonder was drilling and floating alternately. That is one ugly way to make traffic for even a C172 load(3).
  2. Try to understand that miniDV tape is a digital medium. Same sized phisical medium is used for data backup and know as DDS/DAT. Most people don't rewrite their miniDV tapes. For two reason: 1:. they want to keep it 2.:They are so cheap. Some background reading for you: DV from Wikipedia VHS from Wikipedia I hope you could believe after reading these that message on miniDV tapes is *BS*.
  3. I'm not afraid of them, but I fear them. Specially for the first 10-15 jumps. Canopies are wild creatures: they bite and hurt you if they fill that you know everything better....
  4. Thanks a lot! Your explanation was far better that I could find on their web site. Video, please!
  5. Good and stable procedures and multiple checkpoints are more important than having everything in a single sitting. If you do and check twice the most important things like kill-line, slider kill-line and brakes it can not be wrong. Its quite hard to miss it even you got some distraction.
  6. I try to teach good practices for students, although I'm not an instructor. Not all of them are open and listening.
  7. How is that so? It recovers so fast it can safe your ass when play with brakes. My experience is a good pattern/plan leads to accurate landings.
  8. Thanks! It gives some basics.
  9. Does it have some kind of safety? How does it differ from a filled tennis ball? I have the manual, but it has only one sentense: So what kind of deployment system is there?
  10. I think he wanted to say that we flying against the air, so wind speed does not matter for starting the flare and the dynamics of the flare should be the same too. One of my mentor has a theory that in no wind you have to stab fast to flare properly. I don't think that makes any sense. A canopy in laminal flow flies the same manner. The transition in flare from full flight to plane out should be the same: from same high with the very same timing. There is an assumption: density altitude is same.
  11. I do just like him. I set my brakes right after I got back to packing area and my gear is still on my back. So I set my breakes, kill-line and pack, if I don't have anything else to do.
  12. I have replaced my Pro-Track to Neptune last year. I was sick and tired that Pro-Track does not record a jump at all if the FF part is shorter than 5s and its switching off itself 10-25 seconds earlier than I like to. Oh and Pro-Track is not water proof. It quite difficult the find CR 2330 battery. I have Neptune and Optima now. I like them. Side note: I was organizing a Speed Skydiving World Cup. They used red Pro-Track and I downloaded jump countless times. Brr! I don't even want to see or Pro-Track for awhile.
  13. Does it mean that high speed landing or in case of emergency only?
  14. I had 2 similar kind of free style landing on wet grass. It was a kinda fun except I got some dirt on my gear.
  15. I have soldered a led on the top connector for the bullet camera, so I have indication that the camera is powered.
  16. Have you got any serious injury in skydiving? No? Is that because of your skill or your luck?
  17. Battery is not big or sensitive. You may even put it into your ROL pouch. Where do you have you recording device?
  18. Well, I don't know, I don't freefly. Any better idea?
  19. Bang. My fault. Anyway NTSC DV stream -> NTSC DVD. Speed should be the same.
  20. That is depending what kind of cable you have. I have my batteries in my belly pack, next to the camcorder.
  21. That sounds really interesting. Your 24 fps interlaced NTSC DV source must have been recompressed, but timeline should be the same. I guess you made an NTSC DVD from that.
  22. How about having a full face helmet with a visor?
  23. The 2 statements dont concord. The limit at SDA is 180 degrees This poll was not about SDA. Even 180 is not enough for him....
  24. My camera consumes about 130mA from 9-15V source. I use AA rechargeables in battery holders. 8 pcs of 2500mAh AAA has a stamina of 10 hours+. I have a holder for 4,8,10, so I can operate from 8,10,12 pcs of AA. I've chosen this, because every piece is cheap and replaceable. No battery or charger is a critical part for me.
