  1. There was a time, where sport canopies were equal. There is some canopies can be used as reserve or as main, but latest designs has specialized a bit. Most of the mains are made from ZP material with 9 or 7 cell with a bridle attachment point. Reserves are made from low-cf material only with 7 cell only and without bridle attachment point. Reserves are having more reinforcement and the main design goal is open fast, on heading and pack small. They are not designed for having several hundreds of jumps.
  2. It does not mean too much as long as you are not doing it close to the ground. Flaring with rears for the first time takes a leap of faith, not just under 100 jump , even over 500....
  3. Beware of mechanical devices Someone landed this weekend with a new alti that was checked with other alti's on jump run 13'k AGL and 1000' BGL on landing I got -40m altitude reading of my Neptune. Your turn... Guess what could be the result of -40m in swooping...
  4. If you mean Atair Cobalt, yes. I had one and I don't plane more with my current WL. 1.6 was a bit uncomfortable for me. Its not only about the canopy, its about you too. I know ppl jumping with FX and wingsuit.

  7. Well,time can change it. I have not demod any reserve yet. I had lots of jumps on F1-11 canopies. I think it was really helpful.

  9. Well, I assume that you load it a bit more than 1.1 . Its still nice and friendly over 1.5.
  10. He might be more current with emergency procedures than landing in rears.... I don't think that he has ever practiced flaring with rears and I would not like to have a high speed stall next to the ground. I would not do in flight rigging or testing new things in emergency situation. I read more incidents about experienced skydiviers solving the unsolvable than novices having a reserve ride. None would question after that was it or was not it the right thing to do.
  11. I have switched to Cobalt135 after jumping my Pilot150. I love the way it flies. It could be like a school girl at your wing load.

  13. Every canopy is a compromise. Try to live with it . This was known for long. I read reviews before buying at least.

  16. I have seen a pond swooping event, it might be the Farm. It was 100x more fun than watching endless rounds of speed, distance and accuracy.

  19. Wow! What an argument! I happen to have a Pilot 150. It is a good all-around canopy, but it is not really for swooping. Is there any sense learning how to swoop low? I have to release fronts about 4(!!!) seconds before impact. It gains altitude if I release my fronts from an 180 degrees turn. What is the point forcing a flat trimmed canopy into dive, if it does not want? There are way better tools for the purpose. I have switched to Cobalt135 and I'm happy with it. I still fly my Pilot with wing suit. What does it say? No pain, no gain. Notice that every canopy is a compromise! How many line twists have you got so far on ellipticals? I got a couple and cut only one away. I still have no fear to jump that canopy. Shit can happen to every one.
  20. It has nothing to do with years or even jump numbers. Their mind is closed. They live in their bubble of mind. That is a round, nice and perfect cage.
  21. If its microline and just out of trim, it can be re-trimmed. I have seen this back magic performed by a master recently. The owner of that canopy noticed positive changes after that black magic.
