  1. He's gonna have a lot more problems when he gets caught - The judges is going give him a roasting. Like in Iran? -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  2. Are you suggesting that people who commit cruelty to animals should be prosecuted as if they are serial killers? No, and you know that. He's saying that anyone who bakes a puppy is messed up, and it's a signpost on the road to more serious crimes, possibly. That's what the police officer meant by "escalate." Thank you Mr. Mitchell for your precise and concise explanation of exactly why I posted that list. Cheers, Murray
  3. John - See # 14 in the list below. Most of the items are background items....but setting fires and cruelty to animals are behaviors. If you know nothing else about the scum that did this, you know that he is capable of extreme cruelty....which may be a precursor of more horrific crimes to come. Fourteen Characteristics of a Serial Killer Could you be raising a criminal? Acts of violence don't come out of nowhere, and every parent should be aware of the clues along the way. For the most violent of criminals, there are warning signs that often start in childhood. Below is a list of the 14 most common traits of serial killers. 1. Over 90 percent of serial killers are male. 2. They tend to be intelligent, with IQ's in the "bright normal" range. 3. They do poorly in school, have trouble holding down jobs, and often work as unskilled laborers. 4. They tend to come from markedly unstable families. 5. As children, they are abandoned by their fathers and raised by domineering mothers. 6. Their families often have criminal, psychiatric and alcoholic histories. 7. They hate their fathers and mothers. 8. They are commonly abused as children — psychologically, physically and sexually. Often the abuse is by a family member. 9. Many serial killers spend time in institutions as children and have records of early psychiatric problems. 10. They have high rates of suicide attempts. 11. From an early age, many are intensely interested in voyeurism, fetishism, and sado-masochistic pornography. 12. More than 60 percent of serial killers wet their beds beyond the age of 12. 13. Many serial killers are fascinated with fire starting. 14. They are involved with sadistic activity or tormenting small creatures. 4. Terrible stuff. I have a jumper friend in India that went through Mumbai about 10 days ago on her way to a yoga retreat south of Mumbai. I hope that this does not spawn more widespread Hindu/Muslim violence that she may get caught in the middle of. Worried in Saskatoon.
  5. Depending on how much you need Office, you can download Open Office for free. I have a copy on my work machine but haven't used it too much. There are a couple of free alternatives to MS Office Open Office and another one that I can't remember right now. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

    Scary Sounds

Hey Andrew, They worked on my Apple at home and the one at work I posted from....so I don't know what to say. It sometimes takes a few seconds for the sound to start up when you click on the little play icons. 15. Exactly...if the refs are going to take away the ground game to try and provide highlight reel KOs for the sake of people that don't appreciate the ground game then I think the UFC has moved away from its original precept in a direction I won't be supporting with my interest or dollars. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  16. Janis and The Band at the Festival Express in Calgary, 1970. The Who in Saskatoon SK in 1968 Rolling Stones in Regina SK 2006 (First Show) Aerosmith in Saskatoon 2003 or 4 Ricki Lee Jones Vancouver 1993 or so. Neil Young in Regina a couple weeks ago. Neil just rocked the place!! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  17. I think the UFC has become more "WWE-like" over the last while anyway and bringing in a WWE star like Lesnar and giving him a shot at the title without him "making his bones" makes me lose interest in the UFC. I think becoming more mainstream isn't producing a better product. The referees nattering at fighters to constantly do something so that the people in the stands who don't know anything about grappling and groundfighting will be entertained is just one example. Good luck to Randy but I sure won't tune in. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

    MAC Users

I have both on my work machine. I was forced to use Fusion when the tax program I was using on Parallels started crashing and nothing would work to fix it. Everything has worked fine under Fusion...everything being the one tax program I use -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  20. You should be able to set that up....but just where I can't remember and I don't have Excel on my home machine. I set up a couple of key combinations that I use but it was so long ago I can't remember. Will try to check this thread tomorrow morning. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

  22. I just saw that the D90 has been announced and it shoots 720p video at 24fps. Here is a hands-on review. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  23. I've had a Camaro...never again will I own anything by GM....and then mostly Toyotas. I have bought three new ones over the years..1976 Corolla SR5, 1985 Celica GTS and a 2008 Sienna CE. The Celica was the best car I have ever owned. 330,000 km..about 200k miles when I sold it in 2000. All I did to the engine was change the timing chain once, spark plugs and change the oil. It still ran like a champ. The SR5 would rank right behind it. The Toyotas just are more reliable and don't have you getting something major fixed all the time in my experience. I have had a 1993 Honda Civic that I really liked as well but I wouldn't rank it as high as the Toyotas. I did buy it used and that may have something to do with that. We also have had a 1997 Nissan Quest for the last 11 years. It's given me more grief than I like in the 200,000 kilometers I have put on it so I wouldn't rank it real high either. The new Sienna has lots of power for a minivan but overall, it's a minivan and a bit of a yawner. We just did a 5000 kilomter road trip and it was terrific on the highway. I am glad to see that so many people have had good luck with their F150s. I could use a truck for loading kayaks and hauling a boat around so I think I'll look for a good used one. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Kathy Kangas was the last one of those people that I remember seeing using front mount gear....back in the days when the zoomies used to train at Gananoque. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  25. If you want to do the computer stuff the iPhone is capable of...the iPod Touch does all of it as well. If you wanted to show people your portfolio, etc as Lori mentioned above you can do all of that on the Touch...show them videos as well.
