Another week of the Beatles....I think that's too much. For me it is too much anyway. I think they should leave it more open to allow people to pick songs more suitable for their strengths. I think another week makes it real hard to find 11 songs that work for all the contestants. Here's a few suggestions... DreadLocks Boy - Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds Kristy Lee Cook - Stayin' Country with "Act Naturally" (too bad Hernandez is gone, he could have done Daytripper) Amanda - I'm Down - my favourite Beatles rocker. Buddy of mine that saw the Beatles three times in Toronto said this was awesome when they did it live. Ramielle - HELP! (She's gonna need it) It will be interesting to see what people will choose....any other suggestions? -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

I don't know my way around the Windows version of iTunes but this search in the discussions forum looks like some people with similar problems to yours are finding solutions. And he is gone this evening. Kristy Lee and Ayesha(?) were the other 2 in the bottom three. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

I too have gotten hooked for the first time ever..... Who should go tonight.....is there just one leaving tonight? Or two? Anyways...these are my choices to leave.... Ramielle Kristy Lee David Hernandez Little smiley boy Archueleta sucked last night but I don't think he'll go just yet. I liked Chikezie the best last night. Irish Lass was good..my 2 favourites of the evening. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

I gotta get back to you on that 1, as I have no idea at the moment. I would think that they're the same, but am not certain of this. Um, can someone...anyone chime in?...please? Get a little Nano if you want something for exercising with or even a Shuffle....I think you can buy a refurb'ed Shuffle for $39...new ones are only $55....not much more than a battery from Newer tech. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

I just got an 8gb iPod Touch and love the thing! Watching video on it is pretty great. Checking email and websurfing is a bonus. I have had a 4gb nano for about a year that I really like. Apple has current generation 8gb Nanos in the refurb store for $169. I bet if you keep an eye out you may be able to get a previous generation one in 8gb for less. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Hi Lori, The battery nearly exploded! After I had owned it about a year here is what happened....one evening I was charging the iPod and noticed it getting very hot and the iPod wouldn't work properly. I took the iPod apart and looked at the battery ... everything worked fine when the back case was off. When I tried to put it back together it would not close. Then I noticed that the battery was thicker...I took the thing out and put it in a can in the garage. A couple of days later it was as thick as the iPod itself. So, it turned out to be not a good purchase. But, I have never heard of anybody else having a similar problem and they seem to sell lots of replacement batteries so it is likely worth the chance....or, you could trade in the old iPod on a new one...I think Apple will give you a $50 credit if you bring it into an Apple store. Or, they have the current generation iPod Classic 80gb on sale right now for $209 in the refurb store online.....I buy most of my Mac stuff from the refurbs. I just got an 8gb iPod Touch....I think it is awesome!!! It's a pain not having 20 gb of music with me (I have 25 gb in my Library) but I have a few smart playlists set up that gather up new, unplayed music, etc. and it works for me. I've been using a 4gb 2nd gen Nano for about a year and really like it. Sometimes not having a particular song is a pain but I can always find something else on it to listen to. I'll likely carry both the Nano and the Touch around. The Nano is nearly indestructible and I really don't care if it gets scratched, etc so it's nice to have it stuffed in a coat pocket. Its so light you really don't even notice that it is there. The lightness is the main reason I like it ... holding my old 2nd gen iPod feels like a brick in comparison. I still have the 2nd gen iPod and use it in my Civic rustmobile with a cassette adapter and power it from the lighter. I know this wasn't much help....but I thought I'd throw some things out at you. Handbrake is a pretty highly regarded piece of code for many things Mac/Video related. They just released an update I believe. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Cathy was a great lady with a wonderful sense of humour and unlimited patience...which she had to have when dealing with skydivers all day, every day. Nothing but good memories of Cathy who worked above and beyond the call of duty for CSPA for many, many years. I use Safari for nearly everything but occasionally run into sites where I have to use something else. TD Waterhouse webbroker - Firefox, all other financial websites I use Safari on. To pay business taxes like payroll and corporate taxes online I have to use.....Netscape. I think that is a requirement of the Canada Revenue Agency....wonder what they are going to do now that Netscape has officially been killed? Nothing intelligent like using Safari that is provided on every Mac I'm sure. I have a copy of Camino and a copy of Omniweb...both pretty good Mac browsers but I'm too lazy to synchronize my bookmarks so don't ever use them but once in a blue moon. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

That was one of the best Super Bowl Games ever....and I've been watching them since the first one! Although I thought the Giants had a chance .... I thought it was a slim one. They earned the victory. The defense was awesome and Eli Manning and the offense came up big when they had to. I'm still in shock!!! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

I'll be cheering for the Giants but will be very surprised if they win. I believe they are capable of beating the Patriots but they'll have to play the game of their lives to beat a team that is 18-0 and wanting desperately to carve themselves a place in history by going 19-0 and being Superbowl champs. I hope it is at least close. I hate blow-out Superbowl games. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Which video editing program to buy for mac?
murrays replied to Supergeil's topic in Photography and Video
Click on the Finder icon in the Dock (Far Left). Click on the Applications Folder which should be in the sidebar to the left. Now, find the folder inside applications that contains iMovie 06. Open that folder and then drag the program icon to the Dock. Click on the Icon in the Dock to run iMovie 06. Also, while you are in the Finder, click on Macintosh HD and then drag the Applications folder to the Dock on the Right side of the little vertical divider line. (If the Applications aren't there already, I can't remember if they are there by default in Leopard.) -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey -
Just the other day I was thinking about how January hadn't been too bad at all!!! Musta jinxed us! Mike, does Lake Superior freeze right over when it gets cold like this or do you also get humidity off the lake? -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Hey TK! You've gotten soft living down there in the heat! Best thing about today...No Mosquitos!! Take care you big hairy assed hunk of man! Murrrrr

So, over the noon hour I took a few things to the bank and then walked back to our office....4 blocks. When I came in the lobby of our building a fellow coming out said, "Your nose is really frozen!" I sure did...half of it was white and thumped when I tapped it with my finger. I got up to my office as fast as I could to try and take a picture with my iSight. The frozen part had started to unthaw by the time I got the photo but you can see a paler area...the unfrozen parts were red like the rest of my face. In sunny Saskatoon Saskatchewan, Canada while I was out walking it was -51 Celsius with wind chill which translates to -60 F for you non-Celsius folk. The air temperature was -37 C, -35F. I just came across this interesting article about hacking together 24 still cameras to get the Matrix effect. Lori, everybody else... Once you start playing a movie you have 24 hours to finish watching it....not 30 days. You can watch it as much as you want in those 24 hours but at the end of 24 hours This practice is, apparently, consistent with other download rental services according to stuff I have read elsewhere. Because I live in Canada this isn't available yet. I don't know if I'd use it or not. Lori...what is the quality like? Did you download one of the HD movies? -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

The beauty of this device isn't where it IS, but where Apple looks like they want to take us. Look at the other major announcements they made today, specifically "Time Capsule" and the iPhone update. It appears as if Apple's vision for the future is one of wirelessly networked storage. Small devices will wirelessly network to larger ones. The larger ones will hold the bulk of the storage and even programs. Some might see this as a small shift. I see it as huge. I agree with you completely Quade. Clearly and succinctly put. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

I'm thinking a lot of people will look at the size and weight as the most important spec. Just watching the keynote from Apple's website and there is a pretty cool ski-base jump at about 41 minutes in. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

They will come with software called Remote Disc which will allow you to use the drive on another Mac or PC so you don't have to buy the external drive if you have another machine with a drive. They are pretty sweet ... ambient light sensor for the illuminated keyboard, LED screen, large keypad for the iPhone like gestures that you can use on the keypad. With only 80gb drive or 64gb SSD if you want to spring another grand or so for the flash drive this isn't a machine to use for video editing so I can see them leaving off the Firewire. No network connection....wireless only....this is kind of like when the first iMac left out a floppy disk. Aluminum case, very environmentally friendly to keep Greenpeace happy. I think Apple will sell a ton of them. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
