Well, check this out.... Boxed set of Freak Out, Absolutely Free and We're Only in it for the Money.....Zappa's first 3 albums. $30.99 at Amazon Canada. I imagine it is available in the US at a similar price. I just ordered it...ya see what you have all started!! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

"I wish I was anything but a rock" -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  3. Now there's some Zappa I can remember.....I grew up on Freak Out , Absolutely Free and We're Only In It for the Money. I haven't heard them in years...my copies are on vinyl...and I wonder how they have aged. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  4. John just gave you some advice that you ignore at your own peril. I paddled ocean kayaks for several years when I lived on Vancouver Island. Did many weekend and week long trips in Clayoqout Sound, Barkley Sound, Gulf Islands. I had a kevlar/carbon fibre Necky Arluk IV that I loved. If you want to go camping, carry lots of gear, still have a boat you can roll if you get knocked over...buy an ocean kayak from any of the major manufacturers....AFTER you have rented several boats to get a better idea of what suits you best for your body size, age, type of paddling type of trips, etc, etc. Get in touch with a local paddling club. join. Go on trips with them. Buy a PFD and wear it at all times when you are on the ocean. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  5. JP - Have you done many other round jumps? If you haven't, what did you think of the quiet under the round? -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  6. Wendy, You and Zing are correct. I've never seen a Pioneer 23' Tricon but when I saw the cat-eye vent I thought maybe it was a K-XX or K-22 I guess would be closer in size. I never jumped a K-XX but lots of my friends did and they always had good landings with them. In fact, one of my friends had to use his on a demo into a football stadium and stood it up on the 50 yard line.....or in Canadian football fields the 55 yeard line -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  7. ReallY!! Very cool! I always loved the cat-eye vent at the apex of the canopy. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  8. If you are wanting to sort these columns, highlight the columns and go to data..Filter...Autofilter. Very useful in managing lists. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  9. He's also got what looks like a K-XX round reserve by Pioneer for sale. They were the bomb until the acid mesh problem became an issue. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  10. I pulled at 8-10 seconds when jumping the drogueless Vector that I purchased in 1985. Partly due to hard openings and partly due to the fact that a lot of passengers didn't like the high speed wind from tandem terminal. The drogue changed things a lot but not all for the good...the more complicated gear and procedures have contributed to a lot of fatalities over the years. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  11. Chuck, The next time you are visiting them, try and convince them to put up a simple website...designs with numbers to refer to, phone number and prices.....doesn't have to be fancy and I bet they'd get a lot of business as a result. I know I would likely see a couple or three that I'd like to have. Murray
  12. I believe the 4gb models are available on line as long as suplies last at $299. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  13. Chuck, Do they have a website with the designs on it? Murray
  14. That's exactly what my dad said when we got our first PC with an 850mb hard drive. That 160 gb model has 640 times as much hard drive capacity as my first Gateway PC. And is less expensive than what I paid for 8 mb of ram when I upgraded to 16mb of ram when I got Windows 95. But, back to the original thread topic....I'd buy an iPod Touch right now if the wife wouldn't kill me because I bought a Nano this summer. Being able to use it to check e-mail when the kids have control of the computer would be quite handy. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

  18. Sounds like a good plan...and you'll save the cost of upgrading to Leopard. I'm sure you'll be happy with your Mac. Let us know how it goes.. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  19. I'd have to disagree with you Scott....I love the looks, fit and feel of my new iMac but I'd prefer to use the Mac OS even if it was installed in a Dell box. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  20. Exactimundo.....you get the capability to do whatever the hell you want on a Mac....even install Linux using Parallels if you want. Here's a blog post by a Microsoft employee that Fake Steve Jobs referenced this morning. Murray
  21. Kelvin Brundrett tried to save his friend, Tandem Master Steve West, and passenger Richard Cheung by attempting to untangle the main-reserve entanglement they experienced and then deploying his own parachute while holding onto the lines of the tandem rig. All three died. Kelvin's bravery and sacrifice earned him a Carnegie Medal. I still feel that 2 funerals would have been better than 3. You never know how you will react...the TM may be your best friend. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  22. I am replying to you on a new 20" iMac that I have also installed Windows XP using Parallels. (I need Windows to run tax prep programs otherwise I use Mac for everything else) I've had this machine for 8 days and it is awesome!! The ex-editor of PC Magazine, Jim Louderback, just quit and lambasted Vista in his final editorial Here's a quote: "Why, nine months after launch, am I so frustrated? The litany of what doesn't work and what still frustrates me stretches on endlessly." I think you will really like one of the new iMacs if you are looking for a desktop machine and there are several ways to run Windows programs on it if you need to...Boot Camp, Parallels, Fusion, and a couple of others I can't remember right now. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  23. I think Randy will lose to Gonzaga. I think GSP wil beat Koscheck...GSP will be on a mission and as much as Koz has improved I don't think he will handle GSP. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
