  1. My favourite Mike Truffer response to people like this was in a letter to the editor that he printed with the title: DROPOUT "Please take my name off your mailing list. I am no longer in the "sport". I told USPA to cancel my membership after 30 jumps because I found that skydivers are nothing but foul-mouthed, filthy, lewd, egomaniacs and I want no part of them or you." Signed Donna Goodenough Quail Valley, California Mike's response: How dare you call us filthy. - Ed. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  2. I was a subscriber for about 28 years. It was the BEST magazine on skydiving/BASE available in all that time. Mike Truffer printed whatever he felt would be of interest to us and was beholden to no organization with an agenda. Very sad news but likely a sign of the times unfortunately. I will sure miss Skydiving. Best of luck to Mike Truffer and Sue Clifton. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

  5. Wednesday night - I wasn't too impressed with a lot of the people that got through. I thought there were about 3 that were good. The guy that did a Michael Jackson song, a band teacher and the last contestant that did a Stevie Wonder song. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  6. I don't think she'll last for very long...she wasn't that great of a singer. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  7. Best audition of the night - Stevie Wright who did "At Last" by Etta James. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

  12. 2-0 Canada over Sweden after 2...awesome penalty kills! Tokarski is GOOD tonight and I think our guys are playing their best game of the tournament thus far. Sweden's goalie is a bit of a soccer player don't ya think? -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  13. Don't know what you mean by "shitty pms" but I can guess. I passed 28 years in November and I've had a few people in the skydiving community hassle me over not drinking over the years. Some people don't understand that drinking was ruining my life and would have ruined it completely if I hadn't quit. I'm glad you're getting a positive response this year
  14. HAHA!!! Andrew,I thought my heart was going to come out of my chest at various times. It was pounding so hard I think I could hear it. Classic Canada-Russia struggle. I think 5 of the Russian players were on the Under-18 team that Canada beat 8-0 last year and they wanted revenge....they were very close to getting it. If the Russian player that iced the puck trying to score in the empty net had skated over centre or even just dumped it in but not iced it we may never have gotten back in the Russian zone. He really had no one near him. He'll be thinking about that decision for a long time. But, tying it up with 5 seconds left was awesome! The Gold Medal game should be a good one too....Sweden beat the Russians 5-0....so we're going up against a very good team. Cheers, Murray
  15. Somebody recently abandoned this poor cat near Saskatoon. We have had -25 C temperatures for over a month now. Today it is -34 with a -48 windchill....and this cat was outside in weather like that. I shoveled my walkway for about 15 minutes this morning...all bundled up...and that was all I could take. Unbelievable. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

  17. Slovakia? Shows why you gotta play the game....you never know what can happen. Canada-Russia Sweden- Slovakia I HATE watching Canada play Russia. I HATE losing to Russia more than any other country. This is going to be a tough semifinal for Canada to win. Can they? Sure. Will they? We'll see...I sure hope so. I think the Swedes will beat Slovakia but lose in the gold medal game to Canada. Let's see what I know!! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  18. If the final is a rematch.....should be an awesome game! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  19. Tonight's game between Canada and the US was absolutely awesome! Canada won 7-4 with 2 empty net goals in the last minute but that final score doesn't do credit to tonight's action. The US got off to a 3-0 lead helped by Canada getting into penalty trouble. Then Jonathan Tavares scored 2 quick goals for Canada and the tide turned. 3-3 after one period. Canada went up 4-3, US tied it up, Canada went ahead 5-4. Late in the third period Canada's goaltender Dustin Tokarski absolutely robbed the US on a close in chance. Incredible save. Lots of pressure from the US with their goalie pulled but Tavares finally got free and completed his hat trick to make it 6-4 and then they added another to make it 7-4. I don't know if the World Junior Tournament is available to any of you US hockey fans but if it is...the medal round is about to begin and these kids are great to watch. Reminded me of the 1975 New Year's Eve game between the Montreal Canadiens and the USSR Central Red Army that ended in a 3-3 tie....considered to be one of the greatest hockey games ever played! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  20. Depends on how much music you want to carry around. I have the 8gb Touch and would actually like the 32gb model just so that I'd have all my music on it. Far too often I don't have something I want to listen to. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

    UFC 92 WTF?

Rashad always seems to find a way to win and is a tough guy to bet against. Is he going to this time? I don't think so...I think Forrest will come through and beat him. Although Wandy has won twice before and says he's really motivated because he hates Rampage he is getting older. I'm going to say Rampage. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  23. There will always be those that like to have choices and THINK for themselves and then there are the others would rather let others make their choices and THINK for them. Which of these two types of people are "Losers" is purely a matter of opinion. With Choice comes complexity. I will always take CHOICE (even with the knowledge that I could make the wrong choice) over someone else making the choices for me (even if that means I will not be able to make as many mistakes). Have some more Kool-aide, Reverend Jobs says it will all be better soon.
  24. You can use Preview to resize...which is built in...so I guess the Reverend permits it The "adjust size" option is under the Tools menu item. On-the-fly.....not that I know of but there may be a way. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
