  1. I heard that joke 41 years ago riding home from playing baseball in another town. We all wanted to kill the guy that told it but we were too busy laughing our asses off. Thanks for the laugh! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  2. I believe that the OS Upgrade will be free to iPhone users and $9.95 for iPod Touch users. But whether or not there will be new hardware...likely announced at the WWDC in June....I got nothin'! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  3. And hot off the presses but with over One Million downloads already...Skype! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  4. Another app that I like is "Remote". It allows you to control iTunes on your computer from your Touch/iPhone. It's great to be able to change songs, etc, etc without having to be in the same room. I love using it to change songs when my kids are listening to music while they surf the net. They don't know about this app so they tell me there is something wrong with iTunes because tunes are just changing randomly. I promise them I'll look into it.. haha. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  5. Shouldn't be an issue....you have to drag the slider (onscreen) before you can do anything. I'll be very interested in your impressions if you go ahead. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  6. I have rediscovered Scrabble in the last few weeks. I think the iPhone version is well done...sure eats up the battery though! I also use the Facebook app a lot -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  7. I'm going to miss Megan. She really didn't care...she totally embraced her VFTW status and had some laughs while it lasted. Her "farewell" performance was a hoot. That, and Lady Gaga made my evening. And Anoop going Caw Caw to her after she was done. LMAO. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  8. Blue -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  9. Is changing the number an optional thing or is it required only in certain circumstances? -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  10. While not a hard-core Habs fan like I was in the 60s and 70s growing up, I was also hoping the Habs would have a shot in their centenary year. Things will have to change dramatically for them to make a run or get past the first round even...provided they get into the playoffs. Going in, the Wings look like favourites.....but I think they will have a pretty tough time repeating. Sharks have been one series away too many times and eventually these streaks end. As noted above, the Ducks are on a late season surge of hotness....being hot means more than where you finished in the standings. Who knows...I am looking forward to some great hockey and some upsets! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  11. Lori, You picked the "leaver"...but it was very surprising to see Matt in the bottom three along with Scott and Michael and Megan being safe. Vote for the Worst will be patting themselves on the back tonight! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  12. Here's a comment from Vote For The Worst that cracked me up: "Scott makes Barry Manilow look like the Ramones." -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  13. Well, what a difference a week makes. Adam got rid of the nail polish combed back his hair, put on a suit, said he wanted to do the song "Tracks of my Tears" justice and he did very good version of it. It was really good and one of my top songs of the evening. The other two at the top were Matt doing Let's Get It On and Alison doing Papa Was A Rolling Stone to close the show. Danny - 4th place Lil 5th, Anoop 6th, Kris 7th, Bottom three - Scott, Megan and Michael. Megan looked like a million bucks in a short blue dress but she sure didn't sound like a million bucks. Bad song for her...I just can't remember it right now which is pretty significant.(Edited to add..it was For Once In My Life by Stevie Wonder) Michael was pretty dull and Scott a bit better than both of them. Going home - Michael or Megan. If Michael, no chance of a save as they made that clear last week. If Megan I think they'll give her a chance but doing the song she did tonight...I think her chances are slim to none to survive if she is the bottom vote-getter. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  14. This year, it's not about trying to win the Cup.......it's about trying to pry it away from the Wings. Ain't gonna happen. Don Don, my friend, your wisdom, insight and sagaciousness is always refreshing. In what I hope is a prelude to the playoffs, the Flames spanked the Wings 5-3 last night. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  15. This year, it's not about trying to win the Cup.......it's about trying to pry it away from the Wings. Ain't gonna happen. Don Never say Never! ...or should that be Never say Ain't ? Wings are definitely a favourite at this point in time but I think they have better competition this year than last. Repeating isn't going to be easy. Sharks are due. I'd love to see Thornton with the Cup and my old grappling buddy Drew Remenda interviewing him. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  16. Pens won't make the finals in the East. I'm hoping they make an early exit so that Crosby is watching Ovechkin on tv. I like Boston or New Jersey for the East, Sharks or Wings for the West but will be pulling for the Flames to make another run. Boston has put together a remarkable season but how can you count Marty Brodeur out come playoff time? Sharks have looked like they should go all the way many times in the last 5 years but have always come up short. Detroit is deep and experienced and the defending champs. Calgary....they have a better chance this year than in the last few years and I'll be hoping they are hot and put together a streak. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  17. Dang! US iTunes store customers only. That would have been good! Here's a link to a Nine Inch Nails/Jane's Addiction EP that is FREE. You have to enter your email and then you get a link to a download site. You can download in several formats. For the higher fidelity formats you need to use a Torrent client. Cheers, Murray
  18. I work with 2 women, one in her 40's that is a country fan and the other in her early 50's and I'm the oldest at 57....we unanimously hated Adam's Ring of Fire. Capital U!! Some of the comments on various sites surprise me with how many people liked it...but it seems that the people that disliked it...REALLY disliked it, maybe enough to turn them off Adam for the rest of the competition....and I don't think that would be a good thing for his chances. The country fan at work said the version of Ring of Fire that Dilana did on Rock Star Supernova was very similar and she thought that Adam got his inspiration from that take on it. Edited to add this link to a post titled "Ring of WTF" Cheers, Murray
  19. I don't think anything definitive has been released, just speculation. Obviously some type of cranial bleed. Just a complete tragedy. A day on the bunny hill, learning to ski, having fun and she winds up dying. Just goes to show you that you have to enjoy life as it happens as it can be a very fragile thing. My condolences to her family who must be just devastated. Murray
  20. The mind boggles when you think of the possibilities....and not in a good way. I think he will tone things down a little....if Simon keeps saying your performance was rubbish sooner or later the viewing public is going to agree with him. He was lower in the dialidol rankings than I expected him to be based on the judges' praise for him so I don't think he can afford performances that alienate people for much longer. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  21. Good call. I honestly thought they would use the save on her (And actually a little disappointed they did not.) Next week.. Motown. Bye Bye Sarver. I think they really wanted to but she just had a bad song that didn't show her off...and it really wasn't very good the second time around. Dang! I liked Alexis and think she is way more interesting than about 3 or 4 of the guys that are left. But...she had no "constituency" like Scott - pity vote, Sarver - Workin' man vote, etc, etc. Best news.....Megan Joy is still alive...bringing the guys on here great joy! Motown...any idea what the list of songs looks like? -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  22. Great minds...consult the same Web sites? I do remember you mentioning a voting Web site previously...I came across it today somewhat by accident. I would hope that they use the save on Alexis....but it is pretty early to use something they can only use once. Her performance of "I Never Loved A Man" was one of the top performances of the year for me and I'd hate to see her go. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  23. I just discovered dialidol.com...and they are showing the likely bottom 3 as Megan, Alison and Alexis. They claim a pretty high accuracy in years past. Anybody else ever checked out this Web site? -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  24. I have to say that I'll be amazed if Scott goes home tomorrow as I still think he has a large base that will keep voting for him.....doesn't mean that I disagree with your assessment. I doubt it would ever happen but Adam deserves to be in the bottom 3 tomorrow. My bottom 3 - Alexis, Scott and Sarver... Alexis going home but saved by the judges! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  25. What, not "Cleopatra, Queen of Denial"??? I came in halfway through Adam doing Ring of Fire and I'm glad I missed the first half. I despised what he did to one of the greatest country songs of all time. After paula, Kara's gushing it was great to hear Simon call it "self-indulgent rubbish". My wife figures Sarver and Lil Rounds should go home. She saw the whole show and I missed the first 4 1/2 performances. I thought Anoop really did a good job tonight. Alexis Grace wasn't at her best, that's for sure. Megan did pretty good on the Patsy Cline song she chose but not great. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
