  1. No matter who wins in either series tonight...let's hope we get two great games with all teams leaving it all on the ice! Cheers, Murray
  2. SPOILER ALERT! Sometimes you do get what you want. Gokey is gone..I am happy. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  3. Good grief! By the time I got my son home from karate it was 5-1 in the third and one of the Caps got a double minor for high-sticking as I turned on the tv. Bit of an anticlimactic ending to what has been a great series. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  4. I think Kris has a very good chance of winning. If Gokey goes home tonight I think his supporters would be more likely to support Kris in the finale voting. ( I sure hope Gokey goes home tonight...he should have been gone at least a week ago) I thought Adam was very gracious to pay a compliment to Kris and Danny at the end of the night. He showed class by doing so. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  5. Chris, I started watching late....One by Adam. I agree with most of your assessments of the later songs. I found You Are So Beautiful to be a snoozefest. My wife, who loves that sort of song, didn't care for it. The backup singer on Crying was horrible. I don't know why they even used a backup singer. I found it very distracting. I'm hoping Gokey goes home. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  6. Ducks!! They won but once again drove me nuts with their sometimes casual attempts to clear the puck from their zone. Hiller was great...stopping 38 of 39 shots....which is way too many shots. Chuck, I don't know if I'm reading you right but the Capitals came back from being down 3-1 to beat the Rangers in the first round. Coming back from 3-1 has happened quite a few times. Didn't the Sharks blow a 3-1 series lead in the second round last year? -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

  8. It was in mint condition until my dad got ahold of it and packed it poorly in the U-Haul and now there are some scratches on the table top. He said he'd pay for a furniture restorer to take care of it. He got yelled at by all the women in the family. I'll take a picture of it... Be careful about restoring and removing the patina...you can make it worth less by doing so. Write down the names of the people in the photographs. I have all kinds of old photo albums...with many pictures from the 1870's and a few earlier and I don't know who the people are. When my Mom passed away it all was lost. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  9. You're a Pen fan...do you think Fleury has what it takes to go all the way? Not just this year...but any year. That Hawks game was a wild one...talk about not being able to stop a beach ball...put Luongo into that category. 23 savs on 30 shots..... .766 save percentage. Khabibulin not much better but the save he made on a deflection where he managed to knock it past the goal with his blocker was pretty amazing. Kane's third goal was a thing of beauty. If the Wings advance...it could be a pretty awesome series. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  10. Well...waddaya know! The Caps went to overtime and didn't score on themselves like the two previous games! Great to see these two teams take it to a seventh game! And just when I thought the Canucks were done they scored and are now only down 1 goal so we shall see...... -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  11. I can't find anything on it...the only thing about Chara is that he returned and finished the game after being slashed in the ankle. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  12. Chara is done? -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  13. Wow! Those young Blackhawks never quit do they? I know I'm supposed to be cheering for the Canucks because they are the only Canadian team left but I'm digging seeing the Blackhawks with a good team. I'm thinking we're going to see: Pens - Canes Wings - Hawks and likely a Wings - Pens final. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  14. my bad, read it wrong but yes you are right, long gone are the days of "if you hit (insert star player name) i will take ur f'n head off" turned into a pretty chippy game at both end though..fun to watch No big deal. I probably, could've worded it a bit better, too. I think, Bettman has done more to screw-up a perfectly great game into a mor 'crowd pleasing' 'family friendly' game. Some things with the game got a bit out of hand during the 70's and into the eighties and did need some attention. Bettman has tried to speed-up the game and get higher scoring games. Some of the best games I've ever seen were 1-0 after 3-periods. Chuck I think the speed of today's game and the freeing up of the skilled players is good. Some of the anti-violence PC-ness gets to me but these guys are all bigger, stronger and faster than in the past and the skull inside the brain hasn't improved in toughness so protecting players against concussion causing possibly career ending head injuries is good. Otherwise I can't stand Bettman. Little weasel. He's just got too much of the small man officiousness about him. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  15. And how about those 'Canes! Bruins are in trouble. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  16. Thanks for the review. Will have to get out and see it. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  17. It might be time for him to take a night off. I remember when the Hurricanes used Gerber instead of Cam Ward in one game in the middle of their Cup run and the night off definitely rejuvenated him. He's been facing a ton of shots. Who knows, maybe Giguere will take it the rest of the way. The Ducks definitely are solid in the goaltending department. Giguere as a backup provides depth that doesn't exist for most other teams. Tough decision for Carlyle. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  18. I missed the rest of the game after the first...had things that had to get done...but from seeing the highlights, etc. it seems to me that the Wings have stepped it up a notch. It will be interesting to see what happens in Game 5. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  19. Damned good game! Blackhawks tied the series... gives me hope for the Wings! Chuck Based on the first period, the Wings are definitely playing better and putting more pressure on the Ducks. Ducks are going to have to up their game. Ducks have to do a better job of clearing the puck out of their zone. The late goal was a result of a half assed job and there were a couple of other instances where they were a bit lax. You can't give a team like the Wings more chances in your zone. Did you see Selanne put the shoulder to Chelios in the corner? It was a thing of beauty..caught Chelios by surprise as he came charging in to check Selanne, Teemu popped up and rocked him. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  20. Chuck, Sorry...I didn't reference the post with the "mean" comment in it...my post wasn't directed to you. I don't think of the Ducks as being a bunch of "enforcers"....the early 70's Flyers were the epitome of dirty, nasty, intimidation hockey...and the Ducks aren't even close. They play tough and hard...but that's what you have to do to win the Cup. Skill alone won't get you there. I vividly remember Larry Robinson's huge hit on Gary Dornhoefer in the 1976 playoffs and the huge message it sent to the Flyers....the Canadiens could play rough too and couldn't be beat by intimidation. Of course, that was the first year of 4 straight Cups for the Canadiens. They combined the skills of Lemaire, Lafleur, Shutt with the defense and toughness of Robinson, Lapointe and Savard. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  21. Thanks, that was great! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  22. Was I dreaming or did I see a little news item about Maguire being short-listed for the GM job at the Minnesota Wild? Let's hope he gets the job. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  23. Completely agree. Allison left like a champion though. She rocked Cry Baby big time last night. I wish she'd done that performance Tuesday night. 17 years old...I think she's gonna be just fine. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  24. The Canucks not mean enough to win the Cup? With the vicious Sedin sisters in the lineup? Surely you jest? -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  25. But he rolled right out the other side..... -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
