  1. Odds online are pretty interesting. $100 on Griffin will give you $250 if he wins and those wishing to bet on SIlva have to put up $375 to win $100. GQJumper - do you place bets on these fights? Cheers, Murray
  2. There is no way Forrest can make 185. Anderson is going up in weight. I don't see why Forrest is that much of an underdog. He's a lot bigger and stronger than Anderson is typically fighting and you can guarantee that Forrest will be ready to go, unlike a typical Anderson fight which is over before the bell even rings. It'll be interesting to see how he reacts to someone who isn't afraid of him and trades blows. You are correct, the fight will take place at 205. Forrest walks around at 230-240 pounds, there is no way he could ever make middleweight. He is also the underdog because he is challenging the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. On paper there is no aspect of this fight apart from size that Forrest holds an advantage in. And that size advantage only comes into play if Forrest can force Anderson into a position to have to use it. When you consider Silva's tendency to be a counter-striker, along with the reach that he possesses than this fight tilts even more in favor of Silva. On paper there is no way Forrest can win this fight, but luckily fights don't happen on paper, if they did Randy would've retired[for good] years ago. I see this fight going to Forrest due to his inability to be intimidated and willingness to take punishment to force his game plan. I missed the 205 weight for the fight...thanks for straightening me out on that. Now, is going up in weight going to have any adverse effects on the Spider? -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  3. Is Forrest going to be ok at 185? He's taller and has a longer reach than Silva but I wonder if dropping the weight will affect his stamina. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  4. Another fight where you think you'd have to be nuts to bet on the underdog....and a lot of them have come through in the last few years. I wouldn't bet against Silva in this fight. But....Forrest has tons of heart and I think has improved himself constantly. Could be a money maker for you but it wouldn't be a bet I'd make. I hope Kenny Florian beats Penn's spoiled, whiny ass. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  5. I quit drinking a few months after I started skydiving in 1980. I never worried too much aboutit and neither did anybody else. Occasionally I would get a "what kind of skydiver are you?" comment ... usually from somebody new. Not a big deal. Don't worry about it. Buy your beer when the time comes...a pop for yourself...and 99% of the jumpers out there will be cool with you. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  6. Chuck, How do you reconcile being a Wings fan and disliking dirty stuff with the fact that the greatest Red Wing of all time, Mr. Hockey, Gordie Howe, was one of the dirtiest players of all time? Gordie's elbows should be bronzed for the HOF! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  7. Pronger is WAY more than a goon. He is an elite defenceman...doesn't mean I like him. Hockey is a violent game...even when played cleanly. I work for a former hockey agent and have read lots of correspondence about players. One thing that always struck me was the emphasis on fearlessness. If teams thought a player was at all hesitant about going into the corners his chances of making the show were pretty low. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  8. The Flyers got a bit bigger and badder by adding Pronger. Best thing about him getting traded to the Flyers...I can really get a hate on for him now! I don't know about Montreal. I am having serious doubts about Carey Price being #1 in net. Some guys make the transition to the NHL without much time in the AHL but I think he could have benefited from some more time in the AHL..especially before getting thrown to the wolves in Montreal. It can be a nasty place to play. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  9. If he folds in the playoffs...they shouldn't have signed him. Even if he was a playoff stud I think 12 years is nuts. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  10. Speaking of signings...Bouwmeester being signed by the Flames is pretty interesting. Phaneuf, Regehr and Bouwmeester....that's three solid defensemen! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  11. I sure don't understand the Hawks signing Hossa for 12 years..where was he for Detroit this year in the playoffs? I don't see him as a player to help put Chicago over the top. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  12. I was thrilled to see that Dan Lyons revived Fake Steve Jobs last week. Brilliant stuff! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  13. I once asked a defense attorney if ho thought OJ was guilty. He replied,"No, he's not guilty. He was acquitted. Did he kill those two people? You bet your ass he did." I feel the same way about Jackson. His life was tragedy in a million different ways but a lot of it was self-inflicted. He could have made different choices but didn't. Murray
  14. My wife had a stem cell transplant for leukemia in Seattle WA on February 7, 2006. Her sister was her donor and they hooked her up to a machine to extract the stem cells. My wife has confirmed what you said...in some instances the bone marrow route is still preferred. My wife had hers done at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Centre....VERY impressive place. I am incredulous that you have to pay to register. As previously mentioned it seems counter-productive. Even if you pay...$100 is a small price to pay to give somebody their life. Cheers, Murray
  15. I installed it on my 1st generation iPod Touch. The landscape keyboard in the Mail app is just such a huge improvement it made the $10 cost to upgrade worth it. As I am also a MobileMe subscriber I tried the Find My iPhone/Touch feature and although the Touch doesn't have the builtin GPS it narrowed the location down to our cul-de-sac very quickly. It gives you the option to wipe your Phone/Touch remotely and send a message to it. That was pretty interesting. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  16. Speaking of next year...has Chelios played his last game? -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  17. Did I hear right? Were the Detroit fans booing Bettman? I thought the little puke would never shut up so it was much appreciated. CBC didn't even cut to him when he was announcing Malkin as Conn Smythe winner even though you could see him in the background of the player interview that was going on. Great Game 7 and congrats to the Pens for playing about half the game without Crosby and still winning it. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  18. 2-0 Pens after 2! Pens look better....and the Wings are running out of time. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  19. I have to admit I am one person that has never given Osgood his due but if you look at his career stats he has been solid in the playoffs. 2.09 GAA in 128 games. That is consistency over a long period of time. Of course, he has played behind very solid teams but even so, I think he is better than most people think. And, at $1.7m/year he isn't very expensive. Last year I think he was paid $800k...not much above the league minimum. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  20. Once you get it, allow a week or two to find your way around and get comfortable with OS X. It doesn't take too long but it can be a bit disorienting. As mentioned a couple of times...check out the Apple tutorials and you'll be on your way in no time. Let us know how it goes
  21. Re: Conn Smythe - I think that if Detroit wins Osgood is the favourite right now. I think that if the Pens win it won't be Fleury....I just don't feel like he has been carrying the team. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  22. That was a good hockey game. Datsyuk's move in the first where he turned on a dime and brought the puck back close to his feet and then fed it across the top of the crease to Zetterburg was one of the prettiest plays I've seen this year. If Zetterburg handles that pass cleanly he scores. Fleury's save on Cleary late in the third was a game saver. I don't think the Pens would have won had it gone to overtime. One game left. I hope it is as good as this one was. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

    New Iphone

If they don't, the Pre will be in trouble. Does Palm have developer tools, distribution, etc set up yet? Right now, they have maybe sold 200,000 phones....pretty small market compared to iPhone/Touch base of ~ 37 million and not too attractive to most developers. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  24. Congrats! They look like great little machines. New Iphone

From everything I've read about it....it's pretty well done and Palm did a great job on the new OS. But, it doesn't have the 50,000 applications available for it and the rest of the Apple/iTunes ecosystem that you get with an iPhone. I think Palm produced a good product in the Pre and sales have been good but there is so much more to an iPhone than just the device itself that the Pre will have a hard time competing imo. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
