  1. Might be one way to pay for the things .... . -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  2. I'd like someone who has been on the receiving end of these procedures to share their experiences with me. Just like buying a rig...the rig manufacturer is going to tell you his rig is the bomb...I'd like to talk to people that jump them. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  3. Hi, I just received a letter from a prosthodontist that I was referred to by my dentist for treatment options. One of the options is having a complete upper denture mounted on 6 dental implants. I will also require bone grafts on my upper jaw before the implants can be placed. Has anybody out there had these types of procedures done? I am wondering how long a recovery period there is after bone grafting before the implants can be placed and how long a person has to go around without any teeth or a denture while you wait for the grafts and your gums to heal. How long a period there is after implants are placed before you can wear the denture. Also, if you have had this done recently how much it cost you per implant. After it is all said and done...was it worth to pain and money? Are you happy with the results? Thanks, Murray

  5. Thanks for that link Quade. Unfortunately I don't see anything that will do exactly what I want. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  6. No, the heat gets blown into the room by a fan. It wouldn't hurt the TV. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  7. I am looking at buying a new HDTV. We have a problem with where to put it in our family room. Of course, the lovely oak bookshelves where our present tv sits wasn't designed with a widescreen tv in mind. There is also a gas fireplace with mantel in the middle of the bookshelves. We could put it above the mantel but I think that woul be too high for comfortable viewing. We could put it in front of the fireplace but my wife likes to use the fireplace occasionally. So, what I am thinking would work would be a mounting system that would move the tv up and down on some sort of rail system from above the mantel to in front of the fireplace when we want to use it. I haven't found any wall mounting solutions and am wondering if anybody could suggest where to look. Thanks and blue skies, Murray
  8. Dennis Hopper got a star today on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He has terminal prostate cancer and weighs ~100 lbs. Sad to see him that way but I love the picture of him and his 6 year old daughter. She must be a source of great joy for him at this time. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  9. Sell it. There are always other opportunities closer to where you are presently living. For me, being as far away as you are would be a deal killer. I have a number of neighbours that have rental properties and they are a lot of work and require constant attention. If the house will carry itself with no more injections of cash from you....renting it allows someone else to buy it for you over time. I've heard renting described as how to get rich slow in real estate. But I'd never follow that path unless I was able to monitor my property very closely. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  10. Please don't roundhouse kick me into oblivion for being a day late Chuck turned 70 yesterday, March 10, 2010. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  11. USA brought their A game. Canada brought their A+ game. Fantastic game. I told my youngest son to remember this hockey game because they'll still be talking about it 50 years from now when he's my age. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  12. We will win 26 medals total and either 13 or 14 Gold. 26 is 2 more than our previous best at Turin. The Gold medal total will nearly double or double the 7 Gold won at Turin. Very successful Olympics for Canada. The Games may have lost money but will the overall economic benefit for BC be positive overall? Hotels, restaurants, bars all must have been doing booming business. And I think there will be long-term benefits from bringing the world's attention to Vancouver/Whistler and increasing tourism. Hey, as long as everybody that came had a good time!! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  13. Man they have been coming in bunches the last few days! From Zero Gold in Montreal and Calgary to leading the Olympics with 13 (with one more to come I hope) this year, we have had a terrific Olympics. I wasn't too excited about the Games before they started but I have really enjoyed them this year. Many, many terrific performances by athletes from all countries, it's been great. I'm going to miss checking out the action after tomorrow. I don't know how many of you watched the Bronze medal game tonight. It was a great battle between the Finns and the Slovaks. I've always liked the Finns but it would have been great for Slovakia to win their first hockey medal and they came very close. Despite some furious action at the end of the third as the Slovaks tried to tie it up the Finns prevailed. The Finns had to come back from two goals down after being embarrassed yesterday so it showed their grit and character. They stayed out on the ice for the longest time saluting the crowd, throwing their bouquets to people in the stands and enjoying the moment. Hats off to Slovakia for a great performance. Cheers, Murray
  14. I yelled "Tie Game" when I saw the puck come out with Luongo down and couldn't believe Slovakia didn't score. Canada sat back and started watching the game and the Slovaks nearly made them pay. Don't worry Billy, USA's gonna need every bit of their A game to win Gold...as will Canada. What a great way to wrap up the Olympics! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  15. Unfortunately, the object of our attention, Cheryl Bernard, just missed two gold medal-winning shots. No third chances. Silver it is. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  16. Billy, We aren't there yet but did you see the Canada-Russia game? We dominated the Russians. Sunday afternoon is going to be an awesome game. USA has to bring their A game if they want to have a chance. Go Canada! 17. We don't do Pumpkin Drops at my DZ anymore A couple years before I started somebody misjudged the spot and put one through the roof of a neighboring hangar. Missed the plane inside by about 5 feet, so I was told. I recall reading about an incident (back in the 80's) about a dropped pumpkin going through the roof of a farmhouse and hitting the kitchen table, leaving the inside of the kitchen covered with pumpkin. Luckily, nobody was home at the time...but pumpkin passes were no longer done at that DZ. I did one pumpkin pass jump....lots of fun, especially holding on to it at pull time. I dropped mine under canopy at about 500' and was very impressed by the loud crack it made on impact. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  18. So that's how they work on it. Thanks Amazon! I am really happy for Joannie Rochette who won Bronze in women's figure skating tonight. Gold medal for courage to skate that well after losing her mother 5 days ago. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  19. Yeah, makes you wonder how they train to do all that aerial work. How do they work up to launching themselves 45 feet in the air, etc? -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  20. Now, I'm hoping Joanie Rochette can have a good skate and medal. And good luck to Kyle Nissen, in first place after the first jump in Men's Aerials. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  21. Slovakia knocked off the Swedes last night! That's a bit of a surprise. Canada - Slovakia, US - Finland semifinals. I watched the Finns beat the Czechs last night and was so impressed with Teemu Selanne. The guy can still play at a high level at 40 years of age. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  22. Canada plays the winner of Sweden - Slovakia I believe. The US gets the winner of Finland - Czech Republic. Not to discount any of the other teams but right now I think a Canada - US rematch is a distinct possibility....and one I will be hoping for. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  23. Well, I feel like Canada played up to their potential tonight...and the Russian coach stuck with Nabokov too long. Awesome win for Canada! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  24. Skyjack, Jerry Bird, Shoobi Knutson, Peter Gannaw, Eric Bradley, Sox (John Rostoks) are the ones that I remember from my small number of visits. Oh yeah, and some crazy guy named Scotty Carbone -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  25. Two things about tonight - Hats off to Joannie Rochette of Canada for skating a personal best (3rd overall) in figure skating 2 days after losing her mother. She skated an excellent program under very difficult circumstances. Latvia ALMOST knocked off the Czechs in the qualification game. They surprised them with two third period goals and took it to overtime. Very early in overtime they nearly won it when a shoot-in just wide of the Czech net came off the boards and hit Vokoun in the pads but it bounced just clear of the Czech net. However, it was not to be as the Czechs eventually scored. The Latvian Junior team was adopted by the fans at the World Junior Championships here 2 months ago. Great kids and very happy just to be playing against the top teams. Even though they had no chance they played their guts out. It would have been an awesome boost to their hockey program to get a win over the Czechs...hell, just taking them to overtime is a victory in a lot of ways. Tomorrow - Canada - Russia......Anybody's game I think. I don't like Luongo in net for Canada but I'm hoping he has a good night. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
