What, not "Cleopatra, Queen of Denial"??? Good one! I'll add Scott the Blind Guy doing "Jesus, Take the Wheel" I'm going to Hell, I know.... -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

My only pick: Adam - Stand By Your Man -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

I've never heard "Big Iron" before but found it online...I think you're right...she could make that sonk work for her. Another Marty Robbins song I think would be good is "Singin' The Blues" as it's got that swing to it that I think she does well with. "Hey Good Lookin'" by Hank Williams? Any Bob Wills & the Texas Playboys songs work for her? -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Which Patsy Cline/Marty Robbins songs are you thinking of? Anything specific? I was listening to "Fortune Teller" by Robert Plant and Alison Krauss on the way to work today and thinking that might be a song that Megan could make her own....and maybe some others off the "Raising Sand" album. I think T-Bone Burnett would be a great producer for her to hook up with...I'm sure he'd pick some great material for her. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Agree completely. I think that with the right material Megan could put out a dynamite CD. Unique voice, different sensibilities. There are a lot of good singers in this group but there is nothing original/unique/earth-shattering about them to be interesting. Unfortunately, even with Vote for the Worst supporting her, I think that unless she gets some really good material in the next weeks she will be gone fairly early. I just came across an article that says Apple is going to make an adapter available for other headphones and also the Apple earbuds will do the same thing as they also have the same controller. Thanks guys, -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Been fantasizing ever since! I wonder if Megan getting picked by Vote for the Worst kept her in the running? I am very grateful to them if they were the difference. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Sounds to me like I'd need to find somebody that has the skill and equipment to do a proper job. Thanks everyone! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

So, I was looking at the new iPod Shuffle just released today. All of its controls are on the right headphone cord. The problem with that is the Apple earbuds don't fit a lot of people and there are much better sounding headphones available. How difficult would it be to cut the Apple earbuds off and splice on earbuds from your preferred headphones? -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

I'm really sorry I missed the first half of the show. I also found the sound was pretty bad....likely my system but I found it had way too much crowd noise. I'd have to say there weren't any definite ones to be punted of the singers I saw...some possibilities perhaps were Anoop and Jorges. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

I agree they did pick the best 4 of the 8 tonight. Jesse...close, Von - not close, Tatiana - Doing a song for the third time killed her chances completely and the guy that did Superstition - too ordinary. I think Megan is the most original and different of the top 13. I really hope she goes far....and, as you have noted...she's pretty easy on the eyes! I think there are a lot of guys that can sing as well as any of the ones left. Same with most of the women..Alexis and Alison being exceptions...but Megan seems to have her own style. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Good news/Bad News... Bad news first - He didn't make the Top 12. Good news - They put him in the Top 13! Best news - Tatiana is gone! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

I think Tatiana is completely ripped at all times on an enormous overdosage of estrogen...the world's most dangerous drug! See attached gif for evidence. Vote for the Worst is going nuts over the possibility of her being in the Top 12. A couple of commenters over there make a reasonable case for her having a good chance as they figure there will be at least 2 women chosen to balance the gender split which is currently at 6-3 for the guys. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

I missed Tuesday so only got to see who moved forward...Lil Rounds, Scott McIntyre (blind Guy) and Jorges from Puerto Rico. Despite my fervent pleading they named Tatiana to the wild card group of 8. She didn't disappoint...crying, blubbering, annoying....likely just what the producers wanted. Others in the group of 8: Megan Corkrey, Jasmine Murray, Matt Giraud, Anoop, Jesse Langseth, Ricky Braddy, Von Smith. Some pretty talented folks in that group. Tomorrow should be interesting. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Anyone hear about the camera-man who jumps without gear?
murrays replied to medusa's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
I've never heard this before. Do you have any source to point us to? -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey -
Hahaha! He was way more interested in me burying him under the snow in front of the living room window and then popping up when his Mom looked out. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Amateurs!!! You should see what it's like for those of us who have to deal with snow/ice on our roads for many months at a time. Come to think about it, despite all this so called experience we northerners get driving in snowy and icy conditions, there is still no shortage of morons who don't know how to drive on the white slippery icy stuff. I have come to the conclusion that it is the lack of snow tires that causes so much mayhem. These "all-season" tires just DO NOT cut it in winter. Two years ago I finally bit the bullet and bought snow tires for both our vehicles....incredible difference. I believe that Quebec is the only Canadian province that mandates snow tires for winter driving. I think it should be mandatory all over Canada....and maybe a few of the northern states. I'll never drive in the winter without them again. They greatly enhance your safety. Two years ago we had the worst blizzard in 50 years (unfortunately, I'm old enough to remember the one 50 years ago) and I know I would not have made it home with all season radials. With my snow tires I drove our minivan through stuff that I didn't think was possible. The attached photo is of our driveway after taking 3 1/2 hours to do a 15 minute drive to get home. The streets were clogged with abandoned buses, cars, trucks, it was crazy. When snow hits areas that don't have snow removal equipment, experience driving in it and tires that aren't suited for it on their vehicles....people are going to have accidents or wind up in the ditch. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Thanks for posting that...one of the scariest things I've ever read! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

I'll be gobsmacked if Alison doesn't make it. I'll be very surprised if Matt does make it...the Coldplay song he did was just a bad choice and didn't play to his strengths. If Adam is top guy and I think he will be based on your review and others I've read then I can't see Matt beating Alison or Megan for the third slot. Adam, Megan, Alison - my prediction Cheers, -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

I don't know, I have a feeling that people might continue to vote him in so he can continue to annoy. I think he would be great on a cruise ship...then again, I don't take cruises. His presence would be a good reason not to take a cruise! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Boy, he was not on tonight...don't think we'll see him make it tomorrow. Actually, I missed performers 7, 8 and 12 due to stuff going on. Out of the ones I saw I only really liked Alison $, the 16 y/o with the bright red hair. She did a great job on "Alone" by Heart. I am really wondering how Megan Corkrey did...I thought her initial audition was very interesting. Unfortunately she is one of the ones that I missed. Hopefully, we've seen the last of "Nick/Norman". -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Did Alexis' auditions in prior years ever make it to the show? How is the wild card going to work? Are they going to pick four who didn't make it from each show and then take the top three from that group of twelve? As I typed that I realized we maybe haven't seen the last of Tatiana. I think she'll be back in the wild card. Next week...I am interested in seeing how Megan Corkrey does. I really liked her initial audition. Can't remember many of the rest. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Yes...good riddance Tatiana! I guess her "marketing" and plea for votes didn't do it. I didn't see Alexis sing yesterday but I think she was WAY WAY better than Danny or Michael when they reprised the songs they did yesterday. If she can continue to bring it like that she has a chance of winning. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Interesting that this is the third year that Alexis Grace has auditioned. Makes you wonder how she got passed over in the past. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
