    I did that for my first 3 jumps and got massive end cell closure, just like the FLC pictures. My rigger suggested leaving the nose alone, and pulling the slider right over the front and forming a pocket. I've only jumped that once, and it worked. But I have a grand total of about 7 jumps on my Sabre, so please insert a large grain of salt where necessary... -- Arching is overrated - Marlies

    Isn't that a lack of education? Wouldn't part of you canopy education include what to do if you get cut off at 20'? if you find yourself going downwind at 50'? If you had more/better education then the things that you can do 'bad' by yourself are reduced, as you have been taught how to do more. I think that makes sense.... -- Arching is overrated - Marlies

    Zero jumps for me. and I'm only a stone's throw away from the best DZ'z in Chigago . Why can't my supervisor be more understanding? I haven't even really been outside in the past week, I've been stuck inside doing an experiment for my degree. First time in the US, in Chicago, I haven't really slept in the past 3-4 days and I haven't jumped for at least 3 weeks... ok. I'll stop now.... -- Arching is overrated - Marlies

    I've got about 75 jumps and I've only hurt myself once (strained ankle and knee), and that was because I stuffed up. I had a brain fart and didn't flare until my feet were on the ground. I would call your landing atypical, but thake that with a large grain of salt; I haven't been around for long... -- Arching is overrated - Marlies

    I bought a normal pair of goggles, and the lens from my old set of prescription sunglasses fit them! The script is still pretty good for me. I'm happy for the moment. Saved me a few hundred dollars. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies

    How do you define 'one size'? What applies to the person that ordered a custom 142 sqft canopy? From my limited experience, the 'standard' canopy sizes are 190, 170, 150, 135, 120, 110. (before and after that I don't really know...) Would you put a range around each of those? That sounds like the easiest solution to me, but I don't really know... .     I had fun with the TSA at LAX on Sunday. I got tagged as a person that needed to go through the high security section; shoes off, all metal off, bags searched, body wanded down etc... They had about 50-60 people lined up to go through only one x-ray station. It took us three hours and two missed planes to get through security. And I was only transferring to a domestic flight (taking off from the internation terminal though...) -- Arching is overrated - Marlies

    I did 4 h'n'p's on the weekend. Did a tutor jump to look at the effect of all the control inputs on canopy flight, and 3 'brake' jumps (stayed in brakes all the way). 3 from 8k and a 15 sec delay from 13. 'twas quite fun, and cold. and my landings improved significatly with video and feedback. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies

    4 canopy control jumps for me. (from one of our ProSwoop competitors) 3 h'n'p's from 8k, and a 15 sec delay from 13. 1 tutor jump, and 3 brake jumps (spent the entire time in some sort of brake) Quite fun, and I improved my landings quite a bit. I'm now using all the flare on my canopy, but then again I only had 3 jumps in this rig before thie weekend... . I plan on doing some more when he does them. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies

    Try looking at the B licence manual on the APF website http://www.apf.asn.au It's got a bunch of RW stuff in it. It's all 2 way, and it teaches you the basic manoeveurs required for RW. Have a look, bring a copy with you and see if anyone else wants to try it with you... -- Arching is overrated - Marlies

    It probably also depends on how long the bridle is. I bought a rig with a pullout, and the bridle was only about 5-6 feet long; I could cock the PCby holding the dbag in one hand, the pc in the other and pulling. It's now converted to throwaway, with a much longer bridle. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies

    hang on a tick. I'm not knocking you or your paper, I was just trying to give you my feedback on it. Everything that is in it is perfectly understandable. There are just different levels of "properness" in the use of terminology. If I were to write a paper on chemistry or biology, then there would be words that I use in the wrong sense, or things that could be better phrased, but I would still get my message across. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
