And the right to bear arms is #2 right behind your right to free speech/expression. Must have thought it pretty important and foundational to the rest. You should do some real research into why they created these Amendments and why they worded them like they did. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Two of the reasons it was written that way are because it's a cheap alternative to a standing army and because armies/navies of the time were used at the disposal of a monarch to support their own reign. 200 years later and we're simply not in that same situation. Now that I think about, the only time I hear about her is from my Republican friends complaining about what she's up to. I did see the tweet where she recommended Trump read her children's book if he was having trouble with some of of the others. That was pretty funny. I'm going to fire someone because they can't get daycare for their child

Poor bastard. Fired on Dropzone.com. And here I thought Tillerson got it the hard way. I'm pretty sure I took his friend on a tandem but I doubt he'll see this post. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher -

Thanks, we're going to look into that. Seems like something you can do anyway if we're giving a raise and capitalize on the write-off. I really don't know how people can afford daycare, seems like it's through the roof. I have some friends who were paying more in daycare than one of their salaries. I don't have kids and doubt I ever will and don't know first hand what it's like to have to deal with a child between separated parents who don't make much money. We have an employee who can't get to work, is having to leave work at random times because he's going through a separation and doesn't have the money for child care. Where I was previously I had a co-worker who was going through the same thing. I was his supervisor and it was a mid-sized brewery so it wasn't a big deal for us, just part of dealing with life. Where I am now, a commercial contractor, that shit just doesn't fly. We're bringing him in to have a talk but this is his last shot, be at work and do your work, make money so the kid is taken care of. I would love to hear recommendations from people because it's not like this is the first time someone has had a kid and can't afford daycare. Our company is too small to provide anything and we need him to do a better job at work before we pay him more. It's a bitch getting electricians these days so we'd rather keep him. Also, anyone know any electricians in the Mid-Atlantic area. I'm turning down work right now. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher -
I disagree. IMO it is not 'who make their living producing guns.' 'Find out which politicians represent constituents who salivate whenever they see a gun.' IMO it has nothing to do with protecting oneself; how many gun owners ( %-age wise ) have ever used a gun to actually protect themselves? It is an emotional thingy; they get all horny everytime they see a gun. I'm Mech Engr & a gun fascinates me from the construction & function of it. But, that is about it. Jerry Baumchen You don't think an exec from a place that makes guns has as much influence over their politicians than they guy who buys them? Either way, so far the gun makers have been ignored. That can't help. And the fact that they can't be sued can't help either. I can't remember ever seeing that making the headlines. The people I personally know who have been in politics are very candid about the fact that campaign finance runs their life. You have to put it this way, they may be good people and have a message and they may want to do what's best for the US but you can't do all of that if you're not in office and you're not in office without big money donors. Now we know that the gun lobby doesn't hold a candle to the dollars flowing through pharma but they sure as hell can roll out votes. With that bang for the buck politicians are more than happy to give them the stage and speak on their behalf. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

I'll be honest, I'm getting to the point where I'm really wondering if this is the first time that the media is actually giving government the scrutiny it needs. This is becoming ridiculous, really, I know there's always some corruption and a little bit of stealing from the supply closet in the form of a plane ride to Vegas but it's as if these guys can't go a week without some kind of major event regarding spending. To that I say, "Thank you, Donald Trump!" MAGA!!! "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher -
(Sarcasm) Well, according to some the knife and crossbow industries will go through the roof. (Not sarcasm) Can't stand Mother Jones. (Serious Reply) Yeah, we'll see a loss in a sector for a specific product but we're not exactly held hostage over the issue. Great economy, great sales elsewhere and AR makers have already flooded the market so it's not worth as much anymore. They should be happy for a spike in sales surrounding any threat/restriction. Why is it that a Hop canopy is involved in so many? I know it's not because there are so many in use. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher -
His grabbing the risers was almost like an instinctive 'hang onto something' for leverage or stability. I knew a TI who did a similar thing but actually grabbed the 3 ring with his left hand when cutting away, leading to a 2-out as the riser didn't release from that side! Luckily no entanglement as the reserve PC went up into the main. The reserve was inflated when he suddenly realized what he was holding and let go. (It was all on video...) No point in pulling the reserve handle if the Skyhook has already hauled the reserve out before you can react... but one's hand should be on the handle just in case. I got nipped by catching my finger inside the three ring during opening once. Got me to thinking that I never want to have to decide between a broken passenger on a no flare landing vs ripping my finger off if it really got stuck inside of there and I needed to chop. Huge hypothetical but I decided to change my habits. As for pulling the reserve, yeah, for the basic practice of it. Never had a Tandem cutaway but I'm due. Knock, knock. It is stunning that a live round would ever be chambered in a class on gun safety. Inert plastic rounds are used and available for such instruction. Third grader shoots cops gun at school: http://www.policemag.com/channel/patrol/news/2018/02/06/minnesota-3rd-grader-fires-officer-s-holstered-gun-at-school.aspx Its stunning school children have to stage walkouts to try and get adults to prevent massacres in their classrooms. I heard this asshole on the radio this morning, John Reid of WRVA, saying that the kids are doing it just so they get out of school for 17 minutes. We could look at what other countries have done about this? How do you "feel" about that? You're missing the part of this where we also need to teach children how to address their problems without being a bully. If you think kids would otherwise glide through life with no conflicts if bullying didn't exist you're kidding yourself. In the last 25 years the gun lobby has successfully blocked CDC from studying gun deaths and has successfully turned any action against guns into identity politics regarding the 2nd Amendment elevating the possession of a fucking useless type of weapon (assault rifles) into a form of patriotism. THIS SHIT DID NOT EXIST 25 YEARS AGO WHEN REPUBLICAN LEADERS (LIKE REAGAN) AGREED THAT THERE WAS NO NEED FOR CIVILIAN POSSESSION OF ASSAULT RIFLES. Why? I'm not sure I want to go down this path, it's surely long and full of facepalm. I still don't understand why anyone bothers to respond to the troll. I stopped reading the posts ages ago because it just isn't worth my time. Yeah, I immediately regretted asking. It's kind of like that "Why is the American government the best government" scene from Thanks for Smoking. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-zNaeo8nPOo "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Well, I would guess that the FBI would have recognized the "Jones" name, and likely figured out who he was. They would have understood that he wasn't just 'some nut'. But I highly doubt that they would have accepted his offer of assistance. They were 'in control' of the situation. They 'knew what they were doing'. There were a few people who offered real assistance and advice to the FBI. Not just 'nuts' but folks who knew and understood Koresh. All were rebuffed. My mother worked for ATF during that time. Internally it was felt to be a profound failure and combined with a withering budget and being kneecapped at every corner by the NRA they've fallen into complete obscurity. You don't have to ask that hypothetically. Ron has made it pretty clear that he supports the Rs and Trump. And any criticism of them, or reports of 'unpatriotic' behavior is simply 'fake news.' OTOH, he has also made it clear that the "socialist/communist/liberal" democrats are his 'enemy.' I highly doubt you could convince him otherwise. Hence my question - what if the republicans were being unpatriotic? could they ever be, or is being Republican being patriotic? What if he had to choose? At what point do you choose your tribe over your team? For some reason Republicans think they have patriotism cornered and that vision is something resembling a Lee Greenwood song, a box of sparklers and fad contemporary politics. I don't disagree with that at all. Given that the US, in theory the 'shining beacon of democracy', has for it's president a 'wannabe demagouge', who is almost certainly influenced by Russia, I think the world may well be in trouble. I don't disagree with that either. The speed at which we communicate has pushed Democracy farther from Representative Democracy to a pure Democracy that operates more as mob rule because more people have voices and are able to be influenced by various forces and in effect have a greater influence on elected officials. Putin knows very well that with just a few tweaks we show our dirty underbelly where the loudest and more extreme views become center stage news. I have no doubt that he purposefully exacerbated the crisis of Muslims fleeing into Europe because he knows it would embolden the far right to become more vocal. He has done much to amplify both far left and far right propaganda in order to attempt to bring Democracy to a gridlock and to discredit European/Western Governments. Is it so hard to imagine Russia swooping in to North Korea's aid in exchange for a warm water Naval Base? Putin is a Czarist and Russia's long term plan for over 100 years had been to obtain warm water ports for shipping and national defense. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Very Cool. This appears to be the first real effort to use the airfoil while in forward flight, something that I think is absolutely necessary for engine out situations. I'm curious if there's a practical business model. A helicopter for hire is the closest thing to a personal taxi and we all know that's simply not in the cards for daily use even for the most wealthy people on earth. Some places put the camera on the student's hand and get a mix of good and bad video. It's argued that it's no less safe than a TI with a hand cam and may even be an improvement over a possible entanglement around the TI's arm which makes him/her unable to deploy the reserve. As far as it being allowed the USPA is very aware of it. Edit: I personally would be happy to have the student wearing the handcam rather than me so I can focus on flying and safety. Do they still charge tandems for video ? - ie. you can wear a camera but your still paying us for the privilege. You can wear it and get crappy video or let us wear it and get a much better quality result. I can go into McDonalds and have a burger but bring my own bun. It doesnt stop them charging me full price for the burger (without the bun) that they sell me. Video is a service that the DZ offer. The DZ provides the camera.
