"We also know MOST of the causes of drug use, we need them all? NO, we have enough, let's start creating a plan to STOP current addicts and possible future addicts." We're going back and forth here a bit between the point of this clinic, which is to stop the spread of disease, and the war on drugs. I think we can all simply say that this is a good method for stopping disease since we'd otherwise pay for a lengthy stay in the hospital when this guy turn HIV+. Next is the war on drugs. So, here we have a guy who does heroin, he comes to this safe shooting gallery, does his shit and comes down. On the way out the door he sees a poster for drug treatment and recovery. Maybe one day he decides to check himself in, maybe one day he gets shot in the head. Still, the tax payer has spent less, and gained an individual who may be able to counsel users. Doesn't sound so crazy to me. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

How do you suggest we create solutions if your only statement is "Drugs are Bad." "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

"What is the percentage of girls that got unintentionally pregnant when stoned versus not stoned?" Beats me, but the arguement sounds like BS to me and to all 8 of the females who watched it with me, some of whom smoke occasionally, some who never have/never will. "Alcohol = Teen pregnancy is not BS. I really doubt you haven't seen guys pressuring girls to drink because they want to get laid." VERY VERY VERY TRUE and sad. "I would rather they not do it. If I had my choice where they were going to do it, I'd rather it be in their own home, not in a clinic paid for by the government." I agree. But, the point of this is that someone theorized that the government will save more by providing safe needles and showing addicts how to not spread disease. It’s money we’re already spending so why not use the opportunity to help these people by providing a healthy means. Can we turn a blind eye to this? We don’t learn or help anything by forcing it out. "Take the alternative. Should the government provide dormitories so underage (but consenting) kids can have sex” That was college for most. Not me. Sex in barracks was a dismissal offense. “and provide condoms etc to cut down on teen pregnancy and HIV transmission? " Yes. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Hey, you're right, if it works for one person then it was worth it. I'd rather the money be spent on something a bit more realistic but I don't have much sway with the 40 year old bureaucrats who come up with this crap. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

No, drunk driving is an actual problem. Pot = Teen pregnancy is BS. Am I still on the heroin thread? I forgot. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

And if a addict were deciding where to shoot up then would you rather that they do so in an ally or a clinic. Can we all agree that people ARE going to do drugs? "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

"In college I saw half a dozen attempts to do drugs (sitting in cars, out in back etc) thwarted by seeing a police officer. Police officers arrest you if they see you do drugs, and once arrested you cannot physically do drugs. " What, so they never did drugs again? Or did they go someplace where they wouldn't be disturbed by the police.? "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

"The fear of getting arrested, getting AIDS, hepatitis etc are all deterrents to drug usage. Removing them encourages people to do it." This is like that commercial where the daughter gets pregnant becaue she did pot. It goes to show how blind the government is to drug use. That's very good of you. I'll look forward to reading more of your in depth analysis in the future. How about: Who are the typical users? What kind of back-grounds do they have? Where are the drugs coming from? How can we help this family group type to raise their children with more drug awareness? At what point in their addiction are they receptive to treatment? What are the new drug mixes? Do these people have families that will be affected? The problem is that you do not realize that from this we will become more educated and will be able to educate the group we find to be potential users. Are you even thinking about this anymore? Is it so hard to change your opinion and realize that there are more circumstances out there than you and your child? "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

"Encouraging people to do drugs and thereby helping create more drug users is a poor way of studying it." How are they encouraging drug use? "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

This is becoming a very shortsighted discussion. The money for all drug treatment comes from donation or from the government. This clinic will help in the study of drug abuse and will help to stop the spread of disease. What is wrong with that? "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

"Ok, so you're saying some addictions are 'OK' and some others don't, I don't believe in that." I said don't scream that the sky is falling. “I wouldn't allow my child run away anywhere, but to get THERAPY and drop that addiction, screw the 'nurses and their care' I want my child CLEAN, and by that I mean NO DRUGS AT ALL.” You can’t have that kind of control over your child, you can only give guidance. What, are you going to make that a house rule: -Make bed every day. -Take out trash. -Don't run away when you try drugs and like it. For example my best friend’s brother who came from a very wealthy and educated family. They didn’t see him for a year because he’d become addicted to heroin. He finally checked himself into a recovery center and found himself next to a woman who had gotten so fucked up that she killed her own child. They had no idea where he was until he cleaned up and got out. You really think that YOU can control your child so much that you could get them to stop something that they did behind your back in the first place? Good luck. Next, most addicts are not from middle income loving families. How about those people?. Are you going to take care of them too or leave them in the gutter? Don’t compare this to other addictions. That’s just an attempt to dilute the issue with a BS argument you can make about gambling or whatever other addictions. Picture this: you’re a parent and unbeknownst to you, your child does heroin. Do you want them to shoot up at a crackhouse in the ghetto where police hardly roam or in a place where there are medical personnel who will make a record who comes in and out, will provide medical help if something goes wrong, and will give treatment when your child needs it. The answer to addiction is not to ignore it but to learn about it. This program helps addicts to gain trust in a system that they used to fear. It helps us to understand addiction and to find out how people start using drugs when before, the only time we saw it was in overdose situations. Now, would you rather have your child run away to the street or to a hospital? "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Ok, you're right, I now disagree with this. Ppppfffthhttttt!!!! Edit to say: Young padwan use very simplistic arguement and gets just as stupid a response. . "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

So we should do the ass-fuck with gay women instead? Edit: I just checked with a gay female friend. She said they aren't into that kind of stuff. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

I agree. Places like this allow health organizations to make closer studies of addiction and treatment. This can only be good. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Here, here. I flew down to jump at ZHILLS in early Spring for the Freeze your Bunns Boogie and just paid $10 to use a Lightninig that would cost $30 from PD. Got in #12 on an offset diamond, got one on one coaching, bought a bunch of beer for the whole group. That's CRW. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

I would chop. The reasoning being that I know that the reserve would inflate first, and that when it does the PC will probably drop off of my foot and the main may already be out a bit but will be behind the reserve and if it starts to catch air it will just drop away.
