Ok, I'm not going to read the four pages of this but because all I have to say is: WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT CLUB ZION SCENE? "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Yeah, the thing I hate about that show is that they think they can quantify various performing styles into one definition of talent. Those two guys are completely different genres. The guy who won is shit out of luck because he has to fullfill his contractural obligation of performing "Idol's" packaged garbage. Instead of being successufull, he has to be the "Idol". Stupid TV shit or not, Clay has tremendous talent and could have a very good future on Broadway. Yeah, he seems like a candy-ass and of course he isn't going to make it in the MTV studio packaged Limp Biscuit bullshit world so the sooner he shed's the pop-star limelight, the better off he'll be. Only if the plane were on fire. THAT's where skydive injuries come from. My best friend's dad told me the story about when he was the only one without a broken bone on an f'd up night drop in the desert. Someone fucked up and they were low on what was already supposed to be a low altitude jump. He got line stretch and looked down in time to see the cactus he landed in. Just about everyone else got a rock. Alright, I'd try it once. PEACE, Doug "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Some Basic Fun Things To DO With A 280 Student Canopy!
DJL replied to WayneRATS's topic in Safety and Training
Do a bunch of high altitude openings and really crank the turns and have fun with it. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher -

"CRW (Canopy Relitive Work) (don't know to much about this because you have to be crazy to want to touch someone under canopy... )" That's like saying that you're crazy to want to skydive. It's the lack of knowledge that makes people think it's nuts. Do a search for CRW in any forum look at the context in which it's written. I don't get it. People are so freaked by CRW but so ready to downsize and swoop. Edit to say: STOP LOOKING AT ME!!!! "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Hmm, if you got an 18 wheeler with a basic structure on the back with a two point attachment trapeze harness. Make it tall enough to get out of the wash from the cab. Then go out on the salt flats to test it out. Sounds like a new sport to me. Once you're high enough you just cut the cable and deploy your canopy. It's that easy. University of Virginia is close (30-45) min to two dropzones and is a very good school with a very good med school. So, I'm assuming they also have a good pre-med program. If you go in the fall semester then jumping winds down just as you're getting ready for finals. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

How to choose a university at which to study? Find a school with a good reputation that provides courses that are easy. That way you can have fun, which is the point of going abroad in the first place. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Look at the end of page 22. This indicates that the unit does not reset to that altitude by itself and that you must turn it off and on for it to calibrate to a certain altitude. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

That THING is fucking ridiculous. I can't believe someone would actually pay for something that expensive to play a game in the woods. Not that skydiving is any more productive in the big picture... But, seeing that, I want nothing more than to have one so that I can wait outside my friends' houses no wait, my enemies' houses too.. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

It's a lot of fun but I only ever play with a group of friends and rented equipment. The people who go every weekend and have equipment that costs thousands of dollars freak me out. They kind of have the same mentality skydivers do but they're 18 and can't get laid. Wait, I know a guy called Freakous who's like that, except he's like 39 or something. how much would a triathlon 160 go for?
DJL replied to superstu's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I bought a Tri 160 Hybrid recently with 200 jumps and a new unjumped lineset for $900. That was really a hookup. So yes, $800-$900 is a good range. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher -
Has anyone in the Chesapeake area bought crabs by the bushel? I'm having a crab feast at my house next month. Thanks, "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

"The only one I would be concerned about landing with on rear risers is the Triathalon - and then only on a no-wind day. Its got a very short rear-riser control stroke before an abrupt stall." Wendy, would you say this is purely a function of the Triathlon or of the size of the Triathlon on which you were jumping? "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
