Yeah, I haven't really delved into the meat of this discussion, just throwing in my one-liner about people voting against their own interests.
-
100%. As long as we use the winner-take-all voting method in elections with more than two candidates we're going to end up with second - third - last choice candidates running our county.

Joe Rogan is a bit of a douchebag.

Trump expected to commute sentencing of former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich

Wow, a comparison of himself to Nelson Mandela and then insinuating that his incarceration was a product of the racist legal system (which he perpetuated while in office). We've finally seen what AC looks like when his blood boils. -
It really is. But when the opposing party has convinced their own block of low income voters that everything that would could give them a leg up out of a cycle of poverty is socialism then it must be done.

That's very true. The joke is on us.

There IS a problem with global warming... it stopped in 1998

You don't literally have a coal burning furnace in your house, that's your power plant. -
I'm curious if they specifically pursued charges in a way that would allow them to set a legal precedent so they'd apply to Trump.

Who is saying that the driver of the Charlotesville car isn't a deplorable?

I think a good way to expand it without instantly destroying private insurance would be to start with new births. All born citizens get on it automatically, the remainder can join it according to traditional qualifications. It won't be fair to those of us older than zero years old but it's good middle ground for starting and takes care of the most vulnerable. Eventually we'd all be on it.

You're quoting a person who makes a living promoting nuke energy and trying to squash renewables. Yes, the messenger again. But yes, renewables can be more expensive. Burning rocks we dig out of the ground is cheaper but I think you know why you don't heat your house with a furnace containing rocks we dug out of the ground. Nuke energy is more expensive but it's a great way to make a shit-ton of energy with with few emissions so I like it. Anyway, we've talked about this guy and his points and blah blah blah before so we're just going in circles. When Bernie is President and VP AOC sends the jackboots to take your Tocoma so you're forced to drive an electric powered Vespa all will be right in the world. -

You're not listing good reference points. Renewables (not biofuel or biomass): Create energy independence. Reduce CO2 footprint MORE. Create jobs. Are cleaner than coal so much that this is even ridiculous to list. Don't come with the downside of a rise in methane emissions. Etc, etc. Edit: The real downside is the methane. Fracking for Gas is otherwise the least of the fossil fuels. -
Yes. That is the punchline.

You think Bernie has a better chance than any other candidate? There IS Bernie "dirt" out there, by the way and we're not hearing a peep. Let's put a pin in this one. If Bernie DOES win the Primary you'll see an explosion of anti-Bernie narratives that aren't even whispers right now.

Wow, never knew how much Mussolini and Patton looked alike.

I think we need to make a rule in this thread that we shouldn't feel the need to dispute the authenticity or accuracy of the jokes we're posting.

They won't release anything until he's through the Primaries. Republicans and Russians want a Trump vs. Bernie matchup because it's Trump's best chance.

We certainly are! Just look at the difference between 2017 to 2020. At that rate the snowpack will be gone in about 12 years!! -
There are certainly a lot of smart guys on here but I'm nowhere in the league of academics as Kallend or BillVon. I professionally tell people how much construction stuff costs.

I'd like to think all candidates know she's politically toxic but Trump and Russia would save a lot of money, they could just dust off their material from 2016. Look at how quickly the machine turned on Bloomberg at the very hint of a rumor he was considering her. I don't think Bernie and HRC would get along. They both want things their own way. She's gotten a taste of retirement and I'll bet she likes it.

Ohio Secretary of State urges Kent State to cancel Jane Fonda May 4 speech

It wasn't the protesting that angered people, it was allowing herself to be used in propaganda against the United States. Her own quotes (All from a Washingtop Post article): “These men were bombing and strafing and napalming the country,” she said, according to an Associated Press report in April 1973, which quoted an interview she gave to KNBC-TV in Los Angeles. “If a prisoner tried to escape, it is quite understandable that he would probably be beaten and tortured.” Here is my best, honest recollection of what took place. Someone (I don’t remember who) leads me toward the gun, and I sit down, still laughing, still applauding. It all has nothing to do with where I am sitting. I hardly even think about where I am sitting. The cameras flash. I get up, and as I start to walk back to the car with the translator, the implication of what has just happened hits me. Oh, my God. It’s going to look like I was trying to shoot down U.S. planes! I plead with him, You have to be sure those photographs are not published. Please, you can’t let them be published. I am assured it will be taken care of. I don’t know what else to do. It is possible that the Vietnamese had it all planned. I will never know. If they did, can I really blame them? The buck stops here. If I was used, I allowed it to happen. It was my mistake, and I have paid and continue to pay a heavy price for it. “It hurts me,” she said, “and it will to my grave that I made a huge, huge mistake that made a lot of people think I was against the soldiers.” She very much acknowledges that what she did was a mistake. -

You're right and both people are examples of the truths regarding them being muddied by propaganda and history. In comparison what Jane did (posing on the guns and speaking on the radio) is nowhere near as bad as the events of Kent State (And do I even invoke My Lai). BUT even Jane has said that she terribly regrets interjecting herself as she did as if the NVA/VC forces were somehow free of aggression and atrocity. She's simply a distraction. Bring out John Kerry to speak, bring out anyone who was there, bring Neil Young. -
I think that's why TRUMP doesn't want him to be the candidate and why conservative news stations are falling all over themselves to tell Dems that he's a lot like Trump. If he makes it through the Primaries he'll not only have the D vote but will score with many centrists too. I think it's funny to see Fox News barking about things Bloomberg did that they've long since said were Ok when Trump did them.

I'm assuming the punchline is that you picked three people who can be pretty damn condescending. I'm a straight up asshole, I just like sarcasm too much so I lay it on thick. It's part of why I really try to keep my mouth shut when I meet people. I got a safety award once and the text of the announcement read, "...first you need to wade through the sarcasm but there's a message in there."
