There IS a problem with global warming... it stopped in 1998
DJL replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
First JohnRich, then RushMC.... man. -
I think it was the fact that despite the accusations from "The Right" that "The Left" is WAY left it's not actually Way left and Bernie doesn't represent the wishes of the majority of "The Left".
-
And in many other 1st world countries the premise of Breaking Bad makes no sense because everyone has adequate health insurance.

HA! I scrolled down just to see if anyone posted that.

Ohio Secretary of State urges Kent State to cancel Jane Fonda May 4 speech
DJL replied to airdvr's topic in Speakers Corner
Jane Fonda has an inherently negative connotation via her label as Hanoi Jane and it's very difficult to have her at an event recognizing events from that era without evoking that context. There are many speakers who's history would not overshadow what they're trying to do. -
Oh, did a suitcase full of money exchange hands on that tarmac. This story is aging nicely.

So you don't know how to determine average temperature differences but now you're an expert on logarithmic graphs? -
The Trump supporters who want to stick it to the man see the government as "the man" and think Trump is going to do something about that by getting the government out of their pockets. Those same people definitely don't want Bernie Sanders in their pockets.
-
Sanders is the only candidate on the stage who can legitimately say he opposed the invasion of Iraq. The others either did or didn't have a voice at the time but I don't think that gives them any more than a convenient excuse because just about everyone in politics believed the same bullshit.
-
Sanders is a rock star with New England liberals and he got half the numbers in NH as he did four years ago. I'd say the less than representative set of Iowa and NH says more about the majority who split votes between other candidates. Trump carried centrists last election. If the lineup is Trump vs Sanders then Trump will get the Centrists and Sanders will get the lefties. If the lineup is Trump vs Bloomberg/Biden/Warren/Buttigeig Trump will get fewer centrist but WAY FEWER lefties will vote for Trump as some kind of bullshit protest vote. I'd like to say they learned their lesson that he really can win, if not then they deserve another four years of Trump.

It's interesting what clicking "Next Unread Topic" will land on. This was actually a bit prophetic.

What's funny about this is that people have spent so long trying to paint Democrats as Communists that they're genuinely saying it's some kind of liberal hypocrisy to support someone who is as financially successful as Bloomberg. It's as if they're shadowboxing with their own earlier shadowboxing.

The Airbus online Dog and Pony show for their Hybrid. I'm guessing the path is to develop the motor and power plant with trackable flight time needed for certification. https://www.airbus.com/innovation/future-technology/electric-flight/e-fan-x.html

If he loses the election the period between Nov 4 2020 and Jan 20, 2021 will be quite full of book-worthy material.

Considering the quantity of unfilled positions in his administration, yes, there's a shortage. Working for Trump means the risk of permanent damage to your career.
-
I was thinking the same. Who in their right might would want to step into the a role in which they have to at least be as much of a yes man as Barr and first spend several months with Democrats attempting to find any shred of history to use against you and then run the risk of your new boss, the President, trying to fire you and damage your reputation and career if you disagree over anything (which is inevitable).

To be replaced with a bigger patsy?

There IS a problem with global warming... it stopped in 1998
DJL replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
You're not wrong. If you take the temperature difference between Jan 2016 and Jan 2020 and use that as the measure of difference for all of eternity it will always be a difference of 0.5 C per century. Sir, you have solved global warming. -

According to an Electrical Engineer you found on the internet who lists The Climate as a hobby. Edit: Wait a sec, or did you just grab the temperature four years ago and use that to get your average rate of warming? Edit2: Holy shit, that's what you did, you're referring to the temp difference from 2016. I'm not sure you're making a joke but are you? -

He lists "The Climate" as a hobby on his own website. Sounds like a good source. -

Your link even says that the claims that the Medieval Warm Period was warmer are contentious and the example data is primarily greenland and the arctic. It is certainly a fact that the Northern Hemisphere had a period of unusual warmth. https://www.newscientist.com/article/dn16892-natural-mechanism-for-medieval-warming-discovered/ -

I'm not sure what what a graph of Ice Age Temperature Changes over the last 450,000 years is supposed to indicate. Also, out of curiosity, are you getting your information from scientists? I thought you said only like 3% of scientists are right about anything. -

I'm no expert on colors and lines and whatnot and so forth but I believe your graph is missing a bit of information. But don't fret because one google image search later I've found your graph it's from: "Oxygen isotope curve from the GISP2 Greenland ice core. (Red ¼ warm, blue ¼ cool.) Plotted from data by Grootes, P.M., Stuiver, M., 1997. Oxygen 18/16 variability in Greenland snow and ice with 103 to 105 eyear time resolution. Journal of Geophysical Research 102, 26455e26470 data." http://myweb.wwu.edu/dbunny/pdfs/Evid_Based_Climate_Sci/2016_Ev_Based_Climate_Sci_Chap21_Using_climate_cycle_patterns_to_predict_dje.pdf So thank you for showing us that temperatures for Greenland dating to about 250 years ago.
