There IS a problem with global warming... it stopped in 1998
DJL replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
So to recap the conversation: Kallend: Hottest January on Record. Brenthutch: It was hotter 1000 years ago! DJL: Here's a record of world temperatures for the last 2000 years and no it wasn't. airdvr: Hold your horses, we don't have accurate records past 150 years ago, there's no way you can make a claim like that! Did I get that right? Brenthutch, you're up. -

1000 years ago? It's warmer now than it was 1000 years ago. -

You really have no idea how much energy that is, do you. -
Oh no, you don't exaggerate anything.
-
Are you quoting this as your "the world will end in 12 years" proof because that's not what that means.

I do realize you're trying to create a defensible argument by painting it as "religious fanaticism" rather than an understanding of scientific fact. Anyway, this isn't the GND thread so you'll have to do better than that. Unfortunately, people who are fanatical about scientific fact are still right, they just annoy you because you're wrong and you stole their childhood, how dare you! -

Awe....poor deniers can't get jobs. Maybe not being able to validate their work has something to do with it. -
I think you're missing the point that it's not the fiscal issues that are expensive.
-
I'm sorry they're denying you. If you come up with more than just a few example politicians and actors who say crap about the world ending in 12 years they might not deny you so much.
-
I'm confused. These people are denying alarmists?
-
And of course valuations used for investors that are false will put you in jail since that's flat our fraud. BUT I can assure all readers that there's no way Trump would've made it past through primaries without this being exposed, he's way too high of a profile anyway for investors to not know exactly how much his property is worth, thus why he had such trouble getting loans.

AHHH!!! AOC!!!!! RUN!!!!!

Sounds like the free market isn't going to protect us.

There's nothing about the words "well regulated militia" that is relevant to a modern interpretation. The 2nd amendment was designed to be as broad as possible so it provides for individual defense, organized defense and basic ownership of arms. Attempting to re-interpret the original words are an exercise in futility. The real issue is that there is no law that cannot be amended in the interest of public health and safety. That's why there are restrictions on ANYTHING that could be used as "arms" - grenades, bazookas, tanks, gases, explosives, machine guns - all examples of things that are severely restricted for personal possession.

I'm not sure what the hypocrisy is.

Yup. Still don't care. He's a legitimate candidate.

Correct, just like a hammer to the nuts is a cheap reliable way to perform a vasectomy.

I think it's safe to say that anyone working on an assignment closely related to the White House and President would be assigned elsewhere after testifying against the President.

You're refererring to the early campaign "rule" to allow candidates on the debate stage only if they'd received a certain quantity of individual donations. That was a measure to keep the field from growing past what was already an enormous quantity of candidates debating. That time has also passed and it wasn't a permanent party "rule" to begin with.
-
Counties. If you'd like the input a person who lives in Virginia, here goes. The county level politicians in various counties passed referendums that they would support the 2nd Amendment if a state law was in conflict with their local interpretation, various elected sheriffs also voice their support but no bodies who work for the state will be following suit. This was done ahead of the legislation that had not yet passed and it holds no actual power. They can't MAKE stores sell bump stocks and silencers and "assault rifles" and they can't protect stores from state legislature if they do. They can on a local level ignore red flag laws but those are measures that depend on the discretion of law enforcement anyway so local sheriffs are no less empowered to act if it's been reported to them that an individual is a threat to their self or others.
-
Yeah, they're pretty hell bent on hitting themselves in the dick with a hammer.
-
I don't think he got the reference. That was the first guy I thought of when he said that.
-
I agree. In this election he needed to turn Trump's Ukraine accusations into an opportunity to stay in the headlight. Instead he made a weak defense and painted the word "Malarkey" on his campaign bus, presumably because they thought thawing out shit from 1947 makes him look like Steve Rogers.

There's got to be a way to figure out how much server power was used to generate this thread. Greta would not be happy at all.

Members of the "Down with the Rich White Guy" party are members of the Democratic Party but that's about it.
