  1. Ummmm, it was there last year. it could be there next week. Jumpable? we'll know when they take the airstair off. Till then, hold your breath if you want. ------ Michael
  2. Aquavit is nasty stuff, there's a reason they don't export it. thanks for the update - client has an office in Norway. ------ Michael
  3. Zeppo - Just to go further with this, pick you landing areas. There are many places to land. If you have to walk a bit to get back, big deal. The 'Main' landing area can get a little tight at times depending on how many people just 'have' to land there. Take the first day there and just keep an eye to the sky. If you think there are too many in the sky for your comfort level, have a seat. There's still other things to do and the planes will still be there later. ------ Michael
  4. I've been cell only for about 6 years now. ------ Michael
  5. they need to update the vendor list as there aren't many vendors on there right now (e.g. no canopy or container manufacturers yet - if you're looking for gear from manufacturers).
  6. http://www.freefall.com/student.php - left column. Chicagoland Skydiving ran the AFF student opps for years. Different DZ this time. ------ Michael
  7. You should have seen what someone gave me to post on a website once. It was two pages and it had two periods. And the end of the first page really wasn't the place for the first one. ------ Michael
  8. Yeah, you damn LO you. Shaking my tent at an ungodly hour in the morning and making me get on the dirtybird load. Pick a boogie and go all. You'll like some, you'll hate others. it's all about your own personal experience that makes it memorable. ------ Michael
  9. I couldn't agree more with you, Chris. That's why we have "pending" listed to the aircraft we haven't secured 100% for whatever reason(s). The WFFC tried that. People took 'not yet confirmed but we're working on it' as 'it'll be there'. ------ Michael
  10. In reality, only one. The other two years that I was involved with that three letter word was never mentioned by staff - I did have people call me and tell me they heard from so and so that the jet would be there and asked when I was going to put it up. Simple answer was when I had a letter in hand from the operator stating they'd be there. That letter never came. I agree, it's a pissing match. I'm not involved with the WFFC anymore and not defending them in any way. Just want to make sure it's known that the facts were straight and current on my watch. ------ Michael
  11. I beg your pardon, but I have never mentioned any other event! To what are you refering? Gary - re-read your posts. you didn't. Michael
  12. Several years ago when the 'last' jet was to arrive at the WFFC, we all got burned - organizers and me as the webmaster. I had a copy of the letter in hand (on letterhead) where the jet owner was coming. The day before it was showing, they backed out due to their insurer backing out - I also have a copy of this letter that was posted on the freefall website as well. The FSDO had already signed off on the paperwork so the plane was good to go. Now, 3 planes in the works is 3 planes in the works. If the FSDO doesn't sign off on them, they won't be there. If the insurer backs out, the planes possibly won't be there unless the operator will fly it without insurance and if the insurer won't drop them since they're dropping jumpers. I'm actually kind of glad that they're still using the don't tell till it's confirmed so we don't get burned (again) rule on the planes. Even with firm commitments though doesn't mean that they will show though. All boogies with 'non-standard' aircraft will run into this problem at times. It just hit the WFFC hard a several times in a row in recent history Pick your boogie and go ~ besides, the one you're at is going to be the best one, right? ------ Michael
  13. Jump Run does integrate a POS system into it. ------ Michael
  14. Tell your designer to drop the music from the site Client just looked at me when it started up. (besides, it's bad design to do that anyway) ------ Michael
  15. Aircraft edits: 1. The PAC 750 was not there, they never had any intention of going even though it was advertised. 2. Helo - The Sikorsky was there and a news helicopter 'dropped' in as a skydiver was ferrying it back to where it belonged. A helo, by the way, is just another helo. Then there's Rod. Hands down I don't believe you can compare that ride to another helo. ------ Michael
  16. Kick ass! Cute girl accessories already and no beer was involved yet! How cool is that? ------ Michael
  17. one of the coolest rides to altitude was hanging at the end of a rope under a balloon. We tossed ropes over at 1k and rapelled down and rode up to an exit of about 6500'. Everyone else in the basket left and went flying by (make sure they know to launch away from the basket). in the end, just rappelled off into freefall. Attached picture is from another balloon rapell. ------ Michael
  18. Only if you make your beer skydive (even tandem is acceptable) this year. ------ Michael
  19. picture perfect on the landing. Kudos to the pilots. ------ Michael
  20. It will fly, but will it drop jumpers? Time will tell. Good luck to them in getting the signoffs done. ------ Michael
  21. Gee that's helpful That's Minneapolis to the rest of us. oops...Sorry, travel too much and know the airport codes where I go too much. Tail number N12166 - the avaition 'expert' they have talking right now is saying that there has not been a fatality in this fleet of aircraft. ------ Michael
  22. Watching CNN's coverage of a RJ145 (Regional Jet - approx 45 seats) that blew the two left gear tires on takeoff. It's a Continental RJ so it's not our friend DiverDriver. This plane. Just imagine it with wheels down and no rubber on the left. ------ Michael
  23. Car :147mph - Verified by the state trooper that clocked me (btw - didn't get a ticket) Motorcycle :130mph ------ Michael
