Parachutes in airliners are a NO GO in England...
gravitational replied to piisfish's topic in The Bonfire
So far in 2006, I have not have my had my ID or my ticket checked at security 26 times at various large airports to include Chicago, Houston, Denver, Atlanta. Window dressing? yes. I've gone through customs twice without having my passport even looked at. Window dressing? yes. So, let's see here...other things. Ahh...the belt on the baggage xray machine running, but no one sitting there looking at the screen. Were these people rescreened after I said something? no. (airport Houston). Window dressing? yes. I've traveled a couple times and left one of my precision screwdrivers in my bag that I had intended to check. The limit on length is 7 inches, the screwdriver is longer than this. I still have it. Window dressing? yes. We as Americans like to throw money at a problem. it makes us 'feel' good. I'm in the 20% of the traveling public that accounts for 80% of the travel. Do I feel safer since 9-11 since the TSA is on duty? Not at all. Will 9-11 happen again? Oh yeah...you betcha. I just hope I'm not on the plane it happens on. ------ Michael -

I'm looking for my eyewitness accounts of all the TSA 'eyebrow raisers' that I witnessed in 2005. I'm still compiling my list for this year. One thing I do have to say is that the security people have zero personality and don't take shit from anyone. ------ Michael -

That is sad. The rest of the story is she had hired a private investigator and, well, he was less than faithful so she filed. I helped her move stuff out of their house one night and we were just friends from there on out. I'm just glad that I was there during her 'I'm getting divorced so I'm gonna screw like a rabbit' phase. ------ Michael -

Yes but she is in a cool vacation destination state, I bet she will have no problem convincing people to come visit her. Shhhhhhhh...No more tourists in Summit Cnty. ------ Michael

FYI - If not for the efforts of Dixie on the FAA side, no one would have been jumping out of that aircraft that was a tad bit faster than Mullins. Dixie is pro-skydiver and enjoys working with the WFFC and the skydivers. Any reprimand would have been an explanation of all the consequences of the jumpers actions and not much more since the individual missed the load. Unless you're going to go look for a tower, why bring a BASE rig to a skydiving event anyway? BASE events (in most cases) require BASE gear. Skydiving events require Skydiving gear. I guess I don't get it. Gary - Kudos for stopping a potential situation that could have affected my ability to skydive. ------ Michael

Ditto on this here. The police were not helpful, but that was before identity theft was 'cool'. Get some direction on where you can go. Get an attorney to subponea the credit apps. why we ever banned public hangings for instances like this is beyond me. ------ Michael

Hey Beth - Now I'm getting phone calls to get this updated and I'm not even involved anymore. Generally the list of vendors was pretty complete and completed by now when I was involved. Might want to give Opie a poke with a hot stick to get him to put the vendor link back on and update it. ------ Michael
