  1. I got my gear at about jump 40 to. Well, worth it, much more comfortable than student gear and no waiting around if someone else is jumping the rig you need. Your jump looked like a pretty typical 1st jump. Just talk to your instructors and don't forget to pull!
  2. Eventually you will lose all of your old friends and that will take care of 2 of the 3 impediments to your jumping.
  3. That's not something you have to worry about with modern tandem chutes. What you really need to worry about the the tandem instructors gay lover thinking you two are having an affair and shooting both of you in the landing area.
  4. Wostyntje is a Belgian beer brewed with mustard seeds. I assure you the rest of the load will hate you if they find out who did it. http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/322/9749/
  5. I like to practice my EPs in the tunnel. It's interesting to see what your body does when you bring your hands to your chest. I try to imagine getting both handles pulled before I hit the net. The non-skydiving tunnel instructors have no idea what I am doing.
  6. You pulled at the right altitude. Who gives a shit about the practice pulls. Good work.
  7. That, my man, is exactly how you make the most out of your first jump! The relaxation you are feeling now is the elixir we all chase. Have fun in your journey.
  8. First time I saw Maximum Overdrive my friends older brother hooked up the speakers to the TV and jacked up the volume. I've been hooked ever since.
  9. I went to the tunnel to fix my spinning problem. The tunnel helped me to fly like a dishrag. Totally relaxed. If you can't get to a tunnel keep practicing. The less you fight the wind the less you spin. That being said I'm not an instructor just some dude on the interweb. Have fun with your journey!
  10. Yup, the frogs are pretty neat. They keep me company while I'm at my desk. There's some good falconry pictures in there as well. My falcons are actually why I got into skydiving. You have Falcons? Thats's awesome! Can I jump with you and them out of a hot air balloon someday?
  11. Congrats! It gets a heck of a lot more fun from here on out...enjoy each one!
  12. No kidding I would be looking for the screaming, kicking and splashing. Good read.
  13. I always assume that there are small gnomes living inside of those machines that give me bad cards and give the dealer good cards Does that make me crazy?
  14. I've never played Blackjack in a Casino that uses a machine to shuffle the cards, nor would I. Plus I was joking anyway. I got rocked in Las Vegas last time I played.
  15. Why would you even believe this? he clearly says he is interested in more regulation in this sport and regulation means more money coming from everyone's pocket, including Red Bull. He does not deny this fact either. Is he a family member who personally wants to sue Red Bull? I don't know because he does not fill out personal info, so Ill go ahead and assume because I can How does trying a tandem change the fact that money encourages people to push limits? I don't even know what's up for discussion, sure money doesn't push everyone but no one can sensibly deny money pushes some people to do things they would not, whether it's in business, religion or sport. Trying a tandem would help him understand than flying your body is such an incredible experience that the thrill of it alone is worth doing it. Of course money pushes some people to take some risks (ask any roofer if he does it for the love of roofing alone) but that certainly does not mean that these individuals pushed harder because RB $$ has forced them to push these limits. Maybe they pushed harder because they knew they were pushing the furthest levels of this human experience we are all on, and they pushed a little too far.
  16. The ambient sound level of residential neighborhoods in NYC is louder than SVNH...by a lot. Want quiet, move to Canada.
  17. Blackjack? I'd be fucked if that were my job. lol Welcome to the forum. I'd say you want to save up another grand or so to get a good rig with an AAD in it. Then you get out there a lot more and not have to worry about renting equipment. Check out the classified section for gear and you'll get a better idea of the pricing. Have fun.
  18. Ahh...so you're trying to get money from Red Bull. Hope it does not work out for you. Maybe you should try a tandem sometime to understand that money does not drive everyone to push their limits. In fact, some pay a lot to do it.
  19. Its funny how there are people trying to close down certain tandem factories on Cape Cod and you ask this question.
  20. I wish I had more hands so I could give that idea 4 thumbs down.
