Hey pammi,, something I was told to try was to fly with just my legs. Turns, forward movement, backslide, with your legs only keeping your your arms in a normal stable position. One thing my caoch told me was "how do you think all these jumpers can move around with there arms all over the place and still stay stably?" "they all fly with there legs and compensate for any upper body movement". I tried it and man does it feel goofy. Try dipping one knee and then extend the opposite leg at the same time and see what happens. I dont know.. it makes for some interesting flying

And while everybody is laying off the vegitarians,,, lay off the SUV owners!!!!!And the poeple that dont give a shit to pay 1.59 for gas. I dont give any shit to the jumpers walking around the DZ with there new jump suit that they really didnt need or there new fully equipped rig with everything under the sun and costumized that they really didnt need!!! I look at them and say damn nice stuff man I hope one day I can have something like that. But guess what... I got to work for it. Just like you have to work to drive to the DZ for 6 hours. I'm sorry you have drive that far but you picked this sport, and like my dad always says you gotta do what you gotta do. This is just life and some people got handed a wealthier deck than the rest of us. O'well if I have to go through all the bullshit to get there than so be it . But I will get there!!!!We may not agree on everything but at least we agree on one thing......Skydiving is one hell of sport jason

I'd have to agree on the all at once method if you can do it. I was having trouble with getting my legs out enough to not backslide and so the J/M told me to watch for this on the next level. Sure enough I remembered and corrected the problem. Now if I would have waited a week or 2 or 3 I probably would have forgoten that conversation with the J/M and had the same problem which may have caused a repeat. But in the end ya gotta do what YOU gotta do!! But now I have a new problem. I'm all good with the full forward track position, but when I did my first two way, we only turned 2 points because my chicken shit ass was to scared to create any forward movement to doc cause I thought we would hit to hard. O well always something to work on up there!!! jason

Consensus on relaxing students/TDM passengers?
lazerq3 replied to cameramonkey's topic in Safety and Training
Personally for me being a recient AFP grad I liked the fact the my J/M was able to joke around with me and keep me relaxed on the ground and on the way to alt. And then when that door opened his was still relaxed but also all business. Being able to have a sence of humor but also accomplishing the task at hand shows professionalism in my book. And hey jump 1 thru 7 w/ no repeats..... he must be doing something right -
Hey froggie, I dont know if this will help you but it helped me... before every jump during AFP I would lay on the creeper and then my J/M would take a broom stick, lay it on my back and then I would wrap my arms over it. He told me this was a great hover, and stable position for my arms to be in freefall. This also helped with muscle memory in that my arms would naturaly go back into the wide W shape. And then while on the creeper it also helped in learning to turn by dipping the shoulders instead of turning at the waist. I dont know like I said that worked for me. Good luck and gald to here your perfect landing jason

Lets see.... 182 or 206..... guess I'll have to say our 206, just cause theres more room and the floor is padded. (what can i say I've only jumped from these 2 planes) jason

sorry man no disrespect!!! We understand your financial obligations to higher learning. so we'll just assume when you grad you'll be making boooookoooo bucks.

I,m not a girl however I think this may help either gender, anyway I just finished AFP a couple weeks ago and the best way for me to find the R/C was to not look for it but to use muscle memory. I would get on a creeper all geared up and do PRCP's until my hand new right where to go. It worked great for me, I never had to look back to find it. Also when I transitoned from R/C to hand deploy(BOC) it was no problem. Its like someone said before its like shifting a car, once you know where the clutch and shifter is you dont have to look at it to shift, your hand and legs just knows where to go!!!Granted your rig may shift a little in flight but not that drastic that you cant get to the general area. Also by not having to look for it I can keep my eyes on my alt and the ground so as to not to loose alt awareness. Any way that worked for me but then again I only have 9 jumps. So go with what helps you the best and good luck! jason
-
I appreciate the invite,, unfortunatly I'll only have about 17 jumps by then, just shy of an A lic. DOWH!!!But I'd still love to get up there and jump with you all!!!Probably next year I'll be able to do some DZ hoppin!!!(whyffo permitting
