So a couple of friends of mine were sitting around B.Sing when one of them who I'd just met mentioned he had done 2 AFF jumps. That got us talking about jumping of coarse and started a debate about what is better, doing AFP (2 tandems and 5 freefalls) or AFF. Well after much debate we decided both are very good and either one a great learning experience. Cool lets have another beer!!! Then my other friend pipes up ( has never jumped mind you) as says "well if I was going to do it I wouldnt want anyone with me. I dont want to have to trust someone else to pull the R/C." "what if they screw up"? That comment pissed me off because its people like him that get killed with there cocky attitude. I calmed myself down for a moment and told him " alright asshole we'll go tomorrow and throw you out for your first time on your own and see what happens you might make it but you might not at least I had the comfort of knowing there was trained professional next to me ready to bail my ass out if I got introuble,....you'll be toast." his next reply of coase was "oh... well I didnt say I'd jump I just said if I did I want to do it myself."..................IDIOT!!!!! So did I have reason to be pissed. I'm sorry but I just get defencesive when people talk shit about skydiving or how easy they think it is........anyway just venting jason

ONE HELL OF GOOD TIME!!!!!! Cant help you too much on the L3. I went through AFP coarse so my L3 was with 1 J/M and my released jump wwas L4. However I had what people call DOOR DEMONS, which is when that door came open I got realllllly nervous. But once I was out on the strut everything was great. Took me till about jump 12 to get get rid of them(the demons). But listen to everbody when they say RELAX......IT ONLY KEEPS ON GETTING BETTER!!!! GOOD LUCK JASON

So how come only C lic holders or higher. According to the SIMS anyone holding a USPA lic has No wind restrictions!

I've been playing with front riser turns the last couple of jumps (from high altitiudes of coarse) and I was just wondering how far down can you pull on the riser? I'm still kinda scitish when it comes to pulling down to far. I grab at an arms reach and pull about half way between my shoulder and where I grabbed. Is it possible to pull too far and have the canopy collapse under itself or do you all give a good hard pull past your shoulder? By the way I fly a PD170 at approx .98 jason

I am by no means an expert on any particular training program, but I would say if you already have done 2 AFF jumps with no problems at all and like you said have no problems with the canopy controll, finish out your AFF!!!! Then I guess if you want to experience a S/L jump go for it. Or you could just do a hop n pop!! Just my .02 GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN jason (ps remember to keep your hands and feet inside the aircraft at all times UNTIL JUMP RUN!!!!)

The flag is some how attached to his foot packed. There may even be a cable that goes up his leg to his harness. Alls I know is that it is hanging off his leg and then after he deploys a good canopy he gets to a certain altitude and unstows the flag.

Every 4 of july our skydiving club does a demo jump right before the fire works and one person has a HUGE flag hanging off his foot with a wieght attached below it and they time it perfectly so that as he's coming down the Star Spangled Banner is playing and the song ends right as he's landing. They have about 15 people running with him as he comes in to catch the flag. Last year they dropped it. DOWH!! jason

WARNING..IF YOU HAVNT SEEN THIS MOVIE AND PLAN TO DONT READ ON:....I watched DROPZONE for the first time last night and have a couple of questions. First the champion skydiver that got throw in the power lines, if he was such a good jumper and he saw his partner was jacking him up like that why didnt he cut away, hell if old Snipes can jump on a team from the get go I'm sure he could have survived the low cuttaway. Also I understand that the cutaway cable was cut on the one rig causing the riser to fail but how come the reserve didnt open??? Did that get tampered with too? All in all a good film with some good shots. TWO THUMBS jason

Here is one aspect that I was told on RSL's. People who fly smaller high performance canopys tend to stay away from RSL's do to the fact that they (the canopy)can induce high speed spins if certain malfunctions occure usaully putting them on there backs and making for an unstable opening if the reserve is deployment imediatly after cutting away. where as with bigger chutes the spins may not be as violent therefore making the jumper a little more stable upon release. This is just one point on RSL's I was told about. I am not and expert on this subjuct but only relaying what I was told by another jumper. jason

I just started to pack my own gear and on one of my jumps, when I deployed the main (PD-170 w/ approx 150 jumps on it) it sniveled for a bit and then opened smooth but then it like like surged forward for a second and kinda threw me in toward the canopy putting slack into the lines I then went parralel with the ground swing back and forth under a good canopy. Any Ideas what the hell that was all about. Could it have been the winds??? uppers at 9500 were 20mph and ground winds were 11mph. Also pack job was a PRO pack w/ the nose rolled 10 times (tight rolls) jason

last sunday I jumped in high winds (well.. high for me,19mph w/ 13 jumps). Lets just say it made for a scary learning experience!! jason

I just wanted to jump in and say that for me I have only 13 jumps to my name and just last sunday I jumped for the first time without an AAD. Did it change my thought process...no, did it change my emergency proceedures......no, the only thing it changed was the fact that I didnt have to check to see if it was turned on during my gear check. I had all the confidence I had when I was jumping one. Call me crazy, call my stupid, but for all those who preach that those who jump w/out aad's are stupid or careless, when driving a car you better have your seatbelt on at ALL times, when riding a bike have a helmut, and when having sex, wearing a condom or else your just a hypocrit (is that the proper spelling) just my .02 peace to all and to each there own! jason
