Well, I was subject to drug testing for a long time and I despised it. It is a search without probable cause. I am aware of all the arguments, that's where I stand on it. So when the paperwork asks if I voluntarily comply, I check the "no" box, and the supervisor, who should have some clue about whether I'm intoxicated, would then have to order me to comply as a condition of employment and I'd submit. Whatever. It's a lazy supervisor's answer to a problem. If you've got a skydiver with a drug problem, you know it. Testing everybody to get at that individual is just lazy and cowardly. Confront the individual, inform him of the objective observations that lead you to believe he's intoxicated, and give him the chance to test or be fired. I also have never had any reason to be concerned over a drug test. There's also nothing contraband in the trunk of my car, or in my house, but you have to get a search warrant to look there. My position is you should have probable cause to look in my body too. JP

I have about 250 jumps on my PC120. I'm very happy with it. It takes decent stills and is convenient to take screen shots from if your stills camera FUBARS. This has been an out for a couple of our videographers when they didn't get film stills for one reason or another. Built in flash, too. I also recommend the diamond reduction lenses. I have the .3 and the .5 .

But so far, the viral diseases that are super deadly have been ones that can't survive long outside a host. Apparently this SARS virus can live about 3 hours outside a host. So if somebody sneezes in a bathroom, leaves, you wash your hands and then touch some of their sneeze 'droplets' and then rub your eyes, BLAMMO, you get to find out how tough your immune system is. Any data on how many casualties this thing has caused in asia?

Ok, with the limited facts available, I think this is a good idea. Misuse of antibiotics have resulted in some fierce bug-based diseases. If it's a viral disease, then containment seems even more critical. We humans haven't endured a plague in a very long time, and there's some thinking that we're overdue. Having gotten to my age in a world fairly free of the diseases that decimated my parents generation, with TB, Hepatitis and the deaths due to infections prior to the widespread availability of antibiotics common in that era, we may have gotten lax about the seriousness of disease. I'm interested in thinking about the quarantine thing. Quarantine is equivalent to jail. Loss of liberty, and you didn't do anything wrong but get exposed to a contagion. Scary.
